They never told us before that qunari will have way less options for hair than any other race. Maybe, if they told it when they first showed us qunari mage in demo, people would get over it by now. Or devs would consider the feedback and made last-minute changes.

But as it is now, it just feels that they were deliberately withholding this informations. I'm sure they were perfectly aware of our expectations, they knew that people who wanted qunari character will be vocal about limited options (because it's just FOUR hairstyles while other races have dozens, and even if I liked those options, it's just four vs dozens!). So the fact that they showed it to us only after CC was locked and you could not change it anymore feels shady. Even if it was not their intent. But it sure looks like it.

They didn't show us any long hair options for ages either (as in longer than Sera's hair), This lead some to believe that all the hairstyles would be incredibly short, they were wrong we just hadn't been shown yet. Most of the hairstyles weren't shown until the CC was locked, that's just because they weren't ready to show the CC yet (for whatever reason).

The qunari still have lots of different styles of horns to choose from, they don't really have less options, they just don't have the options we wanted them to have. Nobody falsely advertised to you or mislead you, you are just disappointed.

The hairstyles are definitely disappointing, but I'm more upset that the hornless option still has clear marks on the scalp where the horns should be! I would have been satisfied with the mohawk hairstyle, but I won't use it if it means looking at those weird horn bumps!

I have to admit, I'm slightly disappointed by it. Not enough to rage or anything, but given that pretty much all of the female qunari concept art and comic art has a lot of hair, I was hoping for fuller hairstyles being available.

Yeah... Video game companies need to realize something: don't make any sort of promise you don't intend to keep. Because the fans WILL remember. Why would Bioware allow DA:I's art team to release images of female Qunari with long hair (giving fans the false hope that it's an option in-game) if that's not possible to do in the game?? It makes no sense. :(

Meh if I could roll a female Orc in Oblivion and Skyrim I can roll a female Qunari in Inquistion.

:-o Those beautiful pics are like rubbing salt in the wound... I wanted to create a gorgeous Qunari queen that would make Cullen weak in the knees... Bioware crushed my dreams

(I'm being melodramatic for the sake of comedy, but seriously: I'm disappointed, Bioware. I still love you and will buy the Deluxe edition on Day One + ALL DLC, but I am a bit sad)

XD they wanted to tease.

I mean that's great for those that still want to play the lady qunari but the hair is just...to me it's not even workable.

If there was a thick bun I could work with that. But the hair just looks so poorly done. It's not even that it's short. It's ugly short.

Agreed! I can appreciate a cute, short pixie cut on a woman (my FemHawke rocked the short, spiky hair look quite nicely if I do say so myself :P) but I prefer women with long, luxurious locks (coming from a gay guy, that sounds a bit funny to say....)

And yeah, the female Qunari hairstyles are pretty ugly in my opinion. I can understand clipping concerns, but why can't we have a high ponytail or bun (like the regal looking one in DA:O?)?! Or a long French braid like the female dwarf concept?

I know I sound like I'm whining but I'm just venting. Honestly, the CC looked amazing and I know I'm going to spend hours creating my characters. :)

The female elf tarot card has a plant growing out of her hand; is anybody going to complain about the fact that Inquisition's elves don't also perform photosynthesis? (PREORDER CANCELED imo.)

No BioWare game thus far has managed long hair in a modular character creator; no explicit promise was made that long hair would definitely be in Inquisition. Those are really the only calculations that matter, not depictions of qunari with longer, fuller hair in other media. Your expectations are your own business, but in this case I would suggest that they are far more the result of unrealistically wishful thinking rather than some sort of failure on the part of devs and/or marketing.

Honestly I'd rather have four horn styles than four hair styles. This has critically impacted my hype over playing a Qunari.

I disagree completely. Horns are exactly what makes Qunari as a race unique in the first place.

Obviously not. It'd be a different matter if the other races were capable of it however. And obviously I wasn't expecting that hairstyle because I'm used to BW games and the day they do a hairstyle like that is probably the same day their CC explodes. That said for the preorder cancelled bit. Does it matter? People buy the game on what they want and why they want it. It shouldn't matter to you.

No one said an explicit promise was made.

How is unrealistic wishful thinking when every other race manages to have long/medium hair?

No I know where you're coming from. XD I too prefer long luxurious hair. (Granted I have shoulder length hair myself and it's as far from straight as possible but still! It's nice to have long flowing locks).

Very. Even goddess braids instead of those badly down cornrows we got would've sufficed.

Nah I'm venting too <3 this is the qunari hair options thread XD

Agreed I was gonna do lady qunari mage too.

Now I'm rocking the human lady mage.

I just don't understand why they gave us such a vast amount of widely diverging horns...then give us those terrible hairstyles to go with it? And yeah most of the lady qunari concepts being shown with long nice hair also didn't help.

Yeah I was dead set on a fem qunari ever since they announced it was being added in as a playable race. I was also stoked about playing a male qunari.

But now that I see the hair options are so limited (I'm big on hair, sorry. It's a huge part of character design for me and a LOT of other players) - I'm just going with elves and humans for this game.

I saw exactly the style I was hoping for, so this doesn't really affect me.  Still, I feel for all of you hoping for more options or a mix/match option.

I am in agreement with you I was not paying that much attention to the hair I was like man what set of horns should I pick now? They all look good! Plus I like the strong features of the female can't wait to play male qunari I wonder how do they sleep with horns like that? I wonder if they will make a joke about that I mean merril wondered how they scratch their back in da2.

I didn't see this video, but I have one vital question:

Do male qunari have Sten-style corn rows as an option?

It's not going to impact my planned female qunari mage playthrough, but I am rather sad about it for now. I'll get over it, but for now I am bummed.

The women do, so there's no real reason the male shouldn't.

Sten wore it better, though.

Makes me a bit sad to see people changing their minds just cause of the hair, but you guys can do whatever. Can't wait to play the game.

Hair is a huge part of character creation. Hair is the number one thing we notice on most people in everyday life - whether it is hair on their heads or hair on their faces or both.

If BioWare had decided to give us a variety of playable origins/backgrounds for the qunari, then I'd still play one. But our race selection won't be that crucial/interactive with the game. At most, it gates us from certain romances. And that's not even a good thing.

Seems like humans and elves have the upper hand here, in romance as well as design.

If the males get the Sten hair but females don't I'll be upset. Sten's hair is longer than what the female qunari got. (and I have my doubts the male will get a longer version). They pretty much get it without the ponytail end.

Agreed though I'll stick with humans til a mod comes out that fixes the qunari hair. This is seriously bumming. I should've suspected something when the Qunari lady's mage hair was so short in the gameplaythroughs. Too late now.

Who knows? A hornless female isn't allowed the same - or similar - hair as a human. The hornless one doesn't even have horns to compromise the style, thus it makes no sense. Ugh. Options for Qunari aesthetics = serious fail.

It should be pointed out that rendering realistic, long and flowing hair is incredibly difficult. Not only does it require an incredibly powerful graphics card(s) that can render each and every strand of hair, but then you need the actual physics in order for the hair to behave properly. Nvidia has done a fairly good job of simulating hair, but as it stands, it's not really feasible with current hardware. It's just easier to model shorter hair and you don't have to worry about it clipping or behaving properly. This is really more of a technological limit rather than BioWare being unwilling to actually do it. At some point Frostbite 3 may incorporate a module that simulates realistic hair and this will no longer be a concern. That time is not now, however.
