ooooh she looks badass! Also, this is a fun idea and I totally wanna participate

So I played around a bit, and that's how I would do my qunari lady:

qunariconcept.jpg

I really want to like the Mowhawk but for her it would just need to be a lot more slicked back, longer and with more volume, and ideally with a very low ponytail. Also she'd wear a lot of jewelery

I want this. I want this so bad. She looks great!

That was actually a really helpful video.  I think I can be happy with at least four options for male qunari (mohawk with curly horns, mohawk with broken horns, mohawk with no horns, and the previously unseen short no horn haircut).  I'd be happy with any of the bald or mudbun options for my female qunari (horned or hornless).

I'm content with it.  It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's workable.

Same, though I wish they got rid of the bun tail for the male qunari lol

Still torn after watching the above video, but I think I'm going to play Eavan first, those longer hair styles with that red tone just really appeal to me.

I'm sure I can make a gorgeous qunari, but she's going to be coming second to my human, sadly.

Is it me or does the male qunaris cornrows actually look a bit like cornrows? In the back at least.

And ugh, all the hair look better on the males... <_<

Well, at least I know I can make that male qunari I planned to romance Cass or Dorian even if they never release more hair so I can make a cute female one.

So male qunari has the mudbun

I can't stop laughing. It looks so terrible.

I'm happy some of you got satisfied with it though but I can't. I just can't XD

Looks to me like if the resources expended on highly genderized walk / run animations had instead been invested in hairstyles, a lot of players would have been a lot happier with both.

I think resources of those might be different.. I guess the CC resources went to lip gloss, adam apples and earlobes :? I wonder why they didn't start with hair and perfect that first since hair is arguably most important part in the CC.

It kinda looks as though she hasn't washed her hair for several months, yikes...

Also: How is it actually possible to mess up a frigging mohawk? It just baffles me.
But then again, they actually managed to make a sidecut look absolutely atrocious sooooo maybe I shouldn't be surprised. (Protip Bioware: 90% of all women who sport sidecuts don't completely shave of the short part, but wear it in a buzzcut)

Exactly. I'm pretty sure most of us can do without lipshine. Without good hair options? Not so much.

I never understand the stupid adam's apple slider... Adam's apples are gross, i did a lot of excersize in my neck just to dissappear it. Why not instead of giving us bazillions of face options add some for the rest of body like arm muscle, foot size (yes, sexy huge feet on a qunari girl would had been hot) body thickness and such.

Arguably the most important part of character creator is facial structure. What would be the point of good hair if your face looked like someone took a baseball bat to it?

I can agree with that.

Can we perhaps say that the best order would have been: facial structure perfected, hair perfected, added on lipshine, adams apple, and stubble for ladies if time/resourced allowed?

I've been following this thread pretty much from the get-go and have been reading the posts.

Lots of us have relucantly accepted the cold truth (for the time being) that what we see is what we get. That's fine, I am among them. But it's still completely baffling as to how it came to this.

I mean come on, adam's apple customisation+femdwarf beard customisation+lip gloss customisation has been implemented but hair for a long awaited playable race (that they know we wanted) is utterly disappointing. And to those who say it was unreasonable to expect a medium/long selection I ask you to look at the concept art. Hell, just look at every picture of every Qunari ever.

It's such a glaring issue that I find it difficult to fathom why a reasonable response beyond "That's it" or "We're looking into it but no promises" hasn't been given. I know I'm covering old ground here, and I am by no means versed in coding or rendering (which kind of refutes my imminent statement) but is it really that difficult to cut/paste (refuting in progress) a hairstyle from one race and alter it slightly to better fit the Qunari? Or even just bring the textures up to parr with the other races?

It seems weird that now, of all times in the DA series, the Qunari have suddenly become hairless.

It's all an EAlluminati scheme to make us demand DLC which we'll be charged for.

I think that extra hairstyle is for hornless qunari only, I think it will be available for females too. I'd like it with horns too for my female qunari since I don't want to go hornless.

I'd like the option to be avaialble to females, too, if only because it would be totally unfair if the male qunari got an extra option in addition to beards (that means their unique combinations of features would be exponentially greater than any female qunari)

I think the complexion slider will affect whether you have dark spots on your head or not, actually.
As long as there is a complexion setting that doesn't have them, I'm happy.

So it seems like the blotches on the female qunari might have been a oversight or something They couldn't have added it because the hair was already locked in, it's most likely they didn't show the last one in the livestream

And ofcourse they listened to the complaints

Yeah, as CENIC said, it appears that the complextion sliders determine whether there are necrotic blotches on the bald head... But it's a bit bizarre that the devs didn't just say that when we made a fuss about it several weeks ago... Clearly they *weren't* listening to our complaints--at least not very closely.

But they definitely scrolled through every female qunari hair option in the early CC demo... I watched VERY closely. Plus, Mike Laidlaw was asked on twitter if there would be any additional hairstyles apart from the ones shown and he said "No."

So that actually leads me to believe that additional hairstyle is for male qunaris only, because, as Ares said, the hair styles were locked in... :(

Well said Vulkan Lives! I absolutely agree with what you said. We truly hope that at one point there will be a DLC or patch that will add more and better hairstyles, and maybe add seperate horn and hair sliders. I personally was super excited about playing a qunari character, but seeing such lackluster options for one of the more important aspects of character-customization really bummed me out. Especially since qunari have always been depicted with longer hair. - I personally never expected them to have the same hairstyles we have seen in concept-art, but I did expect a bit more than those horrible four options.

*sigh* I guess I'm just going to have to make a Duncan tribute human for my first character until (here's hoping) the DLC.

Seeing all these new CC videos makes me even more depressed about my Qunari - everything looks really great until you get to the hair. You have a million ways to change your character in very subtle ways, to makes them unique and interesting, to fix every little detail, but you're stuck with... 4 hair options. It leaves everything feeling very... same-y. Well, at least we have all the earlobe sizes and shapes we could ever possibly want, since they'll always be in plain view.

Even if they didn't have the time to make a full suite of unique hair meshes... couldn't there have been a range of pulled-back variants? You know, take a slightly more filled-out mudbun and stick a full bun or a ponytail on the back? Sure, it's not loose hair, but at least you get a bit more of a selection. To me, that seems like it would have been a very simple, straightforward, and resource-light approach. Mostly copy-paste work. It just feels like there was a quota for qunari hair, and once they reached the required minimum, all work just stopped. Maybe that's oversimplifying things, and maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but from a player's perspective, the option are just really... underwhelming.

*scratches off Mohawk for option for my female qunari*

Okay verdict reached both of my qunari shall be bald. Thought I was only going to make the guy bald but she would kill me if I made her wear that hair.

Saying this with no sarcasm now but the back shot of that hair does look a lot like an oil spill dress that I've seen before, it looks like it would have the same consistancy and feel of that dress to me it does at least.

Putting up a picture of it so people know what the hell I'm taking about.

Since DA FAN's video it's painfully obvious that the Qunari hairstyles were designed for the males first. The large horns kind of necessitate the smaller, less intrusive hairstyles, but when given to women with smaller horns they just don't work.
