Wait, we get 30 different mounts? Seriously? I mean, it's cool that they added mounts... but jeebus. Horses, halla, a native dwarven mount (Bronto, probably) maybe one or two more exotic ones would totally have been enough. Now that's what I call having your priorities mixed up.
I'd happily trade all those different mounts for diverse, good looking hairstyles.
I also refuse to believe that Bioware lacks the talent for creating such hairdos.
C'mon, they have extremely talented concept artists, like Matt Rhodes, who also worked on ME2/ME3 as well as DA2.
JUST LOOK AT THIS AMAZING ART:
http://gameraddictio...s-effect-2-i-am
You can't tell me that they don't have the means to create amazing hairstyles. And still we get this rubbish? It really baffles me.
And don't start with "but that's concept art and not 3D - modeling". Because all that amazing armor, character-design of the companions etc. comes directly from the concept artists and THEN gets translated to 3D-models.
Please rethink qunari hairs.. or lack of them!

I actually would like the hairstyles from the Disney Gargoyle series. I would think that'd make a great hairstyle to chose from. http://i122.photobuc...trio-Wyvern.jpg

But the biggest issue, for me at least, is the technical aspect of the hair. The hair looks bad, plain and simple. Lego hair comes to mind. Or wigs made out of plastic. The hair looked bad in dragon DA:O and in DA2. And from what i've seen so far they don't look any better in DA:I either
It's not like it's a deal breaker for me. But I would be lying if I said I didn't expect more, much more, from a game released in late 2014.
And this is why I'm glad that Bioware is going to release a Tool Kit for DA:I and let the creative modding Community take care of this little issue for them. Oh wait....

Yes I'll have 02 and 03 please they look very fantastic (though I'm sure 03 would have the 'dreaded' clipping problem due to its length)

Squee!! I love Gargoyles! There isn't a whole lot of variety in the gargoyles' hairstyles if I recall. I would still personally love Demona's hairstyle. ![]()

I wholeheartedly agree. That's why I'm so shocked/disappointed with the present hair style options... Our criticisms about lack of choices, quality, and styles are nothing new to Bioware! They've heard it before for each game. You'd think eventually they'd be like, "Hey, let's double our budget for CC options and really blow the fans away!"Hairstyles has Always been Biowares weak spot when it comes to their character models/generators. The number of hairstyles has always been too few.But the biggest issue, for me at least, is the technical aspect of the hair. The hair looks bad, plain and simple. Lego hair comes to mind. Obviously I'm exaggerating a bit, but it would be nice if they put a little more effort into designing quality hairstyles that players are actually excited to use, instead of giving us subpar styles that we are forced to settle with.
When HALF of your hairstyles are variations of buzzcuts, you're clearly doing something wrong. How many people used a buzzcut in DA:O or DA:2? I would be be surprised to find out if a buzzcut was even in the top ten most used hairstyles of the previous games!

I used a buzz cut on my male Human Noble warrior (who never got to the Landsmeet) and my female City Elf rogue (who never got past Ostagar). That's out of 9 Wardens and 4 Hawkes. So, yeah, your estimation seems about right.

Well I personally never used a buzzcut in either game so that matches up with my experience. You know what I find odd? The hair in Jade Empire and KotOR was perfectly fine for the time it was made and the style, modeling, and texture were all the same quality as everything else. Ever since DA:O and ME1 the rest of the graphics have been improving a lot but the hair hasn't nearly kept pace. (and those stylistic choices...ugh)

Ha. You know what? Yeah, you are right about KOTOR. You can't see very well from this picture, but several of them also have long ponytails that go down past the shoulderblades. I do think that there were clipping issues, but still.

Hell, I'd even take some of those for my qunari lady. Especially the second and fifth down in the third column.

It's just so strange the the hair texture and color quality is so extremely bad compared to the rest of the game. Just take a look at some of the screenshots with the different hair styles listed. It doesn't even look like the hair is rendered by the same graphics Engine. The hair looks detached from the rest of the graphics.

Meh. It could just be that creating and animating free flowing hair and/or hair that doesn't look like a wig is a bit trickier than say creating a landscape.

It's interesting to note how in KOTOR, some of the long hairstyles would be partially "animated", which goes to show that as games evolves and get more graphically dependent, less resources or content is relocated to the smaller things that added to the enjoyment -- The thing is that while they might be small, there'll be quite a few of them and they'll come back to nag you until you're wearing them all like a big hat. It really is a shame about the hair.

But in KOTOR and Jade Empire you can only play human, and iirc you can't edit your face, you just pick between different heads, and in Jade you can't switch armor either.
Though that dosen't exuse that those hairs look about as good as the qunari hair. Or better. At least you can tell the hair in Jade and KOTOR is supposed to be hair and not play dough.

But that's just it. The hair isn't even animated and free flowing and still they failed. Take a look at this picture for example. It looks awful. And I'm not talking about the hairstyle itself (which is horrible btw). I'm talking about the technical quality. The hair just looks off. Like it was rendered by another graphics engine entirely. Like a badly photoshopped picture where someone just cut and paste hair from one photo to another. Or cut out hair from a paper placed on the head of a paperdoll.
This is a game released in late 2014 after all. And hair has been done much better by much older games before.

I'm so glad I can finally live out my dream of playing as clayface in a Dragon Age game!
But yeah, the hair is textured VERY poorly. And the problem is (while I don't care for the oiled up skin look) the hair seems to be one of if not the only vastly inferior textures in the game! Why?

I wonder why some parts of came are so detailed and full of customization options and other lack detail and customization. The balance seems to be off. We can craft our weapons by combining many different parts and craft armor by combining again different parts and colors. But in other hand our casual outfit that we wear lot of time in the game (Skyhold is huge place!) is always same design and color, no customization. What's up with that?
Then there is mounts, I was excepting couple different colored of horses, similar what Skyrim did. Over 30 different types of mounts, war nugs and wyverns? That went way beyong my exceptation!
Also the rest of CC except hair. So detailed and rich. Then it comes to hair. So big disappointment.
I wonder if BW divided their resourcess pretty weirdly in different aspects? Cause if you take away couple mounts, couple crafting armor and weapons options and couple CC options (like lip gloss, earlobe size etc.), people wouldn't have even noticed! They would still be blown away! Those resources could have put to areas where people are now disapointed about, hair, casual outfits and female animations and then the game would be much closer to perfection and nothing to complain about (there is always something but lot of people would be happier).

Yeah the male qunari's horns are so big it kind of makes sense the hair is so thin in comparison.
That's not the case for the female qunari
you'd think if any race was designed with the females in mind first it'd been the qunari ![]()
