I am not in game development so I can't say whether its easy or not but when bioware tries to do anything for fans or do their requests all they get is complaints thrown at them. If that was me in their shoes I would be at the point and say to myself why bother? I mean complaints in general have reached a point where they don't really post on the forums as often any more. If you can design something better then don't ask just get a PC and mod it in.

Considering how dedicated DA fans are I am sure they can crack frostbite.

That's because if you do something right - nobody notices and if you screw up - you get complaints. Just life in all its beauty. We're not ungrateful. Sometimes we just don't have anything to be grateful for. I'd have to be high to consider FemShep's dress well-designed. Making a retexture of it took me a couple of minutes in GIMP and that's why I consider it *laziness* of devs. Or maybe blindness. When I first saw it I was like 'WTF they actually thought anyone would wear this?!' But enough of ME offtopic.

The mudbun is just awkward the only category it deserves is weird.  It's not masculine, it's not gender neutral, and it's not feminine, it's just weird...

The previously-unseen slicked back hairstyle on the previous page is strange. It's hornless only? Yet it clearly starts far back on the scalp in such a way that it looks like it was designed around horns...

None of this makes sense. It seems as if Bioware was rushed somehow.

I know someone's gonna flame me for this:

But if hair's such an issue why not play a Dwarf,Elf or Human?

Personally because I love the qunari story, and I love the horns, and I love their race. I think I can make an amazing character, but I would be lying if I said I was happy when I looked at the CC options for qunari hair.

I am dissatisfied with the visual options, but not with the playthrough I have planned.

It's definitely a strange looking cut. It's also odd that we didn't see it until just a few days ago. I'm glad that it's there though because I have two qunari males that I want to play and I only liked one style for males. This 'new' style allows me to roll both of my qunari guys.

Yeah I can rock a female with that style.

But that style does look like it has a perfect position for some going back horns. I'm not sure why they aren't there =/

Hell count the amount of people who liked the first post considering this topic is 130 pages I expected a lot more likes than that.

My Skill Trees thread has over 180 pages but under 30 likes for the OP.

The Cullen thread has over 3600 pages but under 40 likes for the OP

The Cole thread has over 220 pages but under 40 likes for the OP

The Twitter Thread has over 2700 pages but under 40 likes for the OP

So I am not sure why you expected more likes when several larger threads (which were literally just the first ones I thought of/saw) have less likes than this one.

On the other hand the Lady Inquisitor thread has over 360 pages and over 140 likes for the OP.

It seems OP likes vary from thread to thread and aren't dependent on the amount of contributors. The Twitter Thread is probably the one that has has the most posters and viewers but it doesn't have the most likes. I imagine the Cullen thread is mostly one specific group but they would be a larger group than the ones posting in the Cole thread, yet the amount of likes are similar.  The Skill Tress thread is mostly one smallish group (like this one) but it has a lot of other people who occasionally post in it, yet it has the least likes.

So yeah, this thread actually seems to be doing well as far as likes go, I conclude that there is no good reason to expect more.

qunari.png

Is this new? Male Qunari only or something? Also, how is it hornless only when IT HAS SPACE FOR HORNS PRE-BUILT INTO THE MESH?

Also, if this is available, and there are no hair DLCs, my FemQunari will rock this. Pure white with charcoal skin, and violet-grey eyes. (She's like, the fifth playthrough on the list, so if Hair DLC does come, she'll have it available to her). My male Qunari.... I just hope these look better in person, since he's my first playthrough.

It's new one and I was suprised to see it. I think we might have seen it but only from front-view and mistaken it as mudbun. I think both sexes are going to have it but I also think it's hornless only. Which is shame since it's much closer to concept arts and what qunaris had in previous games than other styles.

The problem there is that hair is so bad that is stopping people from being their preferred race and that makes including qunari questionable: if people can't play race cause it's CC is lacking compared to other races doesn't that make the races quite useless as option?

You know what I don't quite understand?

The horns and hairstyles, as it is now, have the same slider, and cannot be customized apart from each other. So why would it be so hard to create some hairstyles that  fall over / past the horns / have some strand of hair in front of the horns, or/and have more volume? Since we can't customize the horns OR the skull in any way (say make the horns smaller, or choose the position on the skull, changing the width and length of the skull etc.) , there really is no reason that the hair has to stay STRICTLY behind the horns, right?
At least not for female qunari. I can understand the thoughtprocess for male qunari, since their horns are way more bulky and take up more space from the skull.

So something like this should actually be possible without too much clipping:

As others have said, it's pretty obvious that the hairstyles were created for the male and then just slightly altered for the female. The male styles even look better, more realistic and they seem to have slightly better texture.  <_<

More hairs for qunari?

Until now, I thought the Arishok is the only one who is allowed to have a decent looking hair. :D

qunari.jpg

But now seriously, I really want the same type of hair, as the Arishok.

Furthermore, I wonder why hornless Qunari can not use all basic hairs, like others race.

Even if I was getting Inquisition on PC I'd be terrified to try and use a mod again, last time I did I'm fairly sure I broke the game I was trying to mod and have no idea how to fix it  But it would be nice for people who can use them I just hope if mods are made that console players can still get some kind of DLC as well so no one is left out :)

Some of us would be happy to walk you through easy-like with images if we get some breakthrough in FB3 modding. :)

Considering how dedicated DA fans are I am sure they can crack frostbite. That's why unfortunately I am quite unapologetic when fans requests things from bioware.

That could take a LONG LONG time.  Especially without any "heads up" help.

So what do we do in the meantime?

Well, for now we stick to this thread. Hopefully there will be a surge of complaints following release. I would honestly be surprised if there wasn't. That might motivate a more earnest response. Until then, there's nothing we can really do.

I imagine not too many people will be thrilled that they can only choose between 4 very short, very plain, fairly same-y hairstyles that look like they were slapped on at the last minute when other races have access to many more hairstyles (in terms of sheer number and variety), and additionally have access to dozens of cool helms and hats. Considering the difference between bald and even the longest option is about a centimeter or two of hairmesh displacement, I think a number of people will be crying foul over the limited customization potential. Especially since the horns only draw more attention to the head and give the impression that your character's skull is smaller than it is. You'd think they'd have placed more emphasis on the cosmetics of qunari hair knowing it'd always be in plain sight and that there would be fewer options to select from.

I'm not much of a "ranter" here, but I have to say that I agree with everything you say here.  Clipping is clearly not the concern with qunari hairstyles, since it happens with at least one other race's hair.  This is disappointing.

Again, I'll make do with the styles that we have, but it still sucks and this just adds to it.

I don't know, demanding personal information from the devs to harass them over a nearly 3-year old game comes across as rather idiotic to me.   Why don't we stop the creepy amount of hate towards the devs and let's just get back to the main subject at hand?  It's okay to be frustrated and angry, but no need to get personal toward the DA team if you have an issue with the game design.

The clipping is awful, and it makes me sad to see it.   It sucks, but let's remember DG is offering his opinion as a writer and isn't trying to speak for all of the animation team as a whole.  Please, let's try to keep a little in perspective here.

I apologize then.  You'd be amazed at how many people have said that very thing in all seriousness.  I didn't mean to imply a tone where it wasn't intended.  :)

Apologies are not necessary.
English is not my native language, so what seems to me as obvious sarcasm, may not be as well recognizable for others.

Thanks for that.   And a belated welcome to the forums to you.

If it helps, you're pretty easy to understand.  I've seen posters whose native language was English make much more incomprehensible posts.   Tone over text can be tough sometimes ;)

After the past week of posts here and in the other 2 hairstyle threads, I get the overwhelming sense that most fans concerned with character appearance are looking more for a Bioware in-game solution, through a patch or DLC.  And it sure would be so much easier.  Plus everyone gets to enjoy (console players and those who don't want to get into the technicals of modding).

So I hope you are right. :)

I think I'm in the minority here in hoping for the addition of modding capabilities.

I'll say for the last time (for a few weeks anyway), my main hope is that Bioware gives us a little start in the modding department.

I personally think this will offer faster solutions (or the only solutions for DAI) and so much more diversity of hairstyle options, including some with clipping as a tradeoff.

But then again that's just for us PC gamers, which is one of the reasons some of us pay more $ to have PCs .

Anyway, I'll "shush" now with my posts expressing hope for the option #2 of modding.

Being a minority in a thread is never fun.

Here's to enjoying what looks like an amazing Bioware game on the whole!  And hopefully a Mirror of Transformation with some more hairstyles will follow sooner rather than later!
