Idunno, there was exactly one hairstyle I liked in DAO, and it wasn't what I wanted going in, but I used it and ended up with a character I loved even more than my original concept.

You'll never get EXACTLY what you want outside of pen and paper RPing, sometimes you need to adapt and make small concessions here and there.

There is a long hairstyle; she's just wearing it in a bun. If your character concept is broken by a bun then maybe it wasn't what you really wanted in the first place.

That's why I never fully plan out characters

Damn, I.... guess long hair makes the FemQunari?

Take note then, BioWare.

*Shrugs*

Decent hair more like. A thick bun, some medium length braids (like sten's hairstyle instead of the ponytail hacked off version we got for some baffling reason). Some braids that didn't look like what my 2 year old niece wears when we're rushing and don't have time to properly do her hair would've been swell.

I'd gladly worked with short hair that looked decent. The short hair we get looks terrible. I'm just more liable to give less beautiful longer hair a pass because eh it's long. The short hair isn't just short it's ugly as well.

That female Qunari hair is the worst looking hair I think I've ever seen in a game  it all looks the same (some variation of bald with spraypaint or tubes that are supposed to be cornrows? dreads?) and the textures look straight out of Morrowind or some other really old game it's especially jarring considering how detailed and realistic the faces are. I'm not usually this harsh but damn. I made a thread expressing my worry about this almost a year ago and people told me I was worrying too much and that it's a shiny new engine and that the crappy hair on Varric and Cassandra was because it was pre-alpha and the final hair would totally not be like that, that the reason half the companions are bald is due to story reasons and not crappy hair reasons...Is the joke on them or me?

Would it have been so hard to make a hairstyle like any of these?

QunariHair_zpsdde21e42.png

*edit* I just realized, we can't even cover it with a hood or helmet since Qunari can't wear them :crying:

that entire bottom row and the 2nd one on the top left...

No, because the rationale for having hornless Qunari act as spies because they don't stand out as much made perfect sense.

Speaking of which, can hornless Qunari wear helmets in Inquisition?? I don't think that question has been answered... they better be able to. Sten wore helmets in Origins and this "Vitaar" nonsense reeks of laziness.

No hornless qunari has the face paint too

...Why is this even an issue? It's hair. Why does hair matter so much when we have all these horns.

Is that a serious question? Do you know how much has been said about hairstyles in the Dragon Age series since Origins was released?? Hair is a HUGE deal to a LOT of people.

lawd, this thread.

That's actually really funny, but if you think this thread is dumb, why bother reading through it/posting in it? Let us vent in peace.

Look at what the most modded part of the body is in any ME or DA game.

It's hair.

...I don't understand people.

Hell hair mods out number any type of mod in any game, it's very difficult to justify a race with such limited hair options, I mean just look at how many people play the bald race in SWTOR. Hair styles are like the biggest things in terms of character customization.

Eww the rat people.

Granted I usually play human but even my sith pureblood has long flowing locks. (well the dude version does. I don't like how female purebloods look so I don't play em).

I think "laziness" is over the top. It was a compromise they made which was part of what allowed them to put qunari in the game to begin with. Don't forget they're busting their butts over at Bioware to get us the game as it is. 60 hour weeks and sleeping at your desk are not the hallmarks of laziness.

Whatever floats your boat. The more people that post in this thread, the higher the chance a dev might take notice and respond! :)
Or, best case scenario: they will release a DLC that includes some more character customization options (and the ability to change your appearance mid-game, a la the Black Emporium... I can't believe they didn't think to include that!!!)

*sigh* It's a very poorly done bun.

But yes I'm well aware of not getting exactly what I want. My issue is there isn't even something of what I find appealing here. Not in the least.

But do tell me what I actually want. That's useful.

Short hair can look way better than what they've given us for a fem qunari.

I'm actually far more interested in the hair growing out of their jaws than the hair growing out of their heads.

I'd love to see a CC pic of a bearded Qunari man.

I have to agree with this.

Lazy no.

Unfortunate and should've been reconsidered? Definitely.

Hopefully this thread will lead to if another decision that lead to the hair for female qunari must be made again they might err on the side of more hairstyle choices.

Lazy wasn't the right word. "Convenient" is better.

If anything, thinking up a concept like the Vitaar (which, as far as I'm aware, is a brand new thing for Inquisition) seems like it would take more time to realize/implement than allowing a hornless Qunari to wear helmets... But I'm not a video game developer, so I'm not sure of the restrictions that would prevent them from doing such... I guess if the head shapes are bigger, then I could see the helmets not fitting, but aren't dwarf heads smaller? Helmets somehow scale down to fit them...

Again I think BW should rethink qunari hair since they otherwise have very broad CC and then suddenly, yep you only have 4 extremely short hairstyles. I think it's major letdown compared to how detailed the CC otherwise is.

It's not like BW has only showed us long qunari hair only in the concept arts... Arishok and every qunari in the DA2 have all longer and better looking hairstyles than our fem!qunari quizzy and that really puzzles me.

Those are some lovely mohawks.

But short hair can be very cute and elegant. That's...not really what we got. =/

Oh well. There's mods and next time I guess.

...I don't understand people.

The aesthetics of hair aren't that difficult to understand. Seems like you're feigning confusion in the human race/its attraction to hair in order to display some kind of superiority complex.

The post Zu was responding too.

I just was meh at the effort that gave us all those lovely horns...and then you get that as the hair.

It's like seeing a thousand dollar phone in a 5 dollar case.

Just why.

It's such a stark difference in quality that it hurts.

I am a bit disappointed, to be honest, but I'm sure it's too late to change it now.  I'm sure clipping was a major issue, but some of those styles in the fanart above look like they could avoid that, particularly the ponytail hawk.  Maybe if we ask nicely, they'll consider a DLC hair package in the future?

I foresee every single qunari Inquisitor having a mohawk.

I think a lot of people would have been fine with something like the feathered hairstyle they showed in the CC video, just with horns.
