Still attempting a female qunari and will hopefully find a look I can live with in the CC.

I do find it ironic that having seen all the concept art, previous qunari in Comics, DA2 and DAO Sten that I was worried all the styles would be medium so I wouldn't find something I liked as I like short hair. It never occurred to me that all the options would be short hair and still so... underwhelming.

I'm still going to try and make my Qunari, but it will be with none of the enthusiasm I had originally had. I expect I'll play around with the face, get to the hair choice - then give up and make a Dalish.

I want to play a Qunari female. Really don't want to stomach an OOC haircut to do it.

Same here  :( I love short hair, but the few ones we have for the Qunari are horrible...and just my luck, they don't came with my preferred hornstyle. sigh.

I hope if there is a DLC for the hairstyles, there is a way to have the hair we want on the horns we desire.

For now, I'm happy I planned to start with a Elf. But it will be hard for my second run having the Qunari lady I want.

My male qunari is still on. But the female... Well, she's at the very end of the line of characters I'm gonna play, so the chances of finishing the game with her are a bit small.

Exactly this.  I will absolutely play at least one, if not two, male qunari.  I was vacillating between lady dwarf and lady qunari and I think that the lack of hair options has pushed me solidly over to the dwarf side.  I'll probably create a lady qunari just to see what she looks like, but I will probably not even get her past the prologue.

Gotta say I feel a bit bad now scrapping my female qunari to the side while quite a bit of ya are still going with her. Shows how shallow I am I guess

It'd be silly not to at least try to make it work. I don't have much hope, though. Very frequently in RPGs I'll make a character and play it for hours before scrapping it because the nose or mouth or eye colour or resting expression is even slightly wrong.

For something major like hair, I can't see it not detracting from my enjoyment cumulatively over time.

I'd be probably more willing to do that if there weren't two other races I find appealing and get more romances. As it is the qunari female has too many cons for me to really be bothered =/

I gave up on female Qunari a while ago. As it stands, she'll be at best the fourth character I play. Maybe by that time they've managed to add some decent hair and/or the option to choose separately. Though I would likely go hornless anyway.

I almost kind of like the cornrows, except that there isn't a pony tail at the back like Sten used to have.

Hm...actually kind of sad, isn't it? All who answered my question so far either said they'd scrap playing a qunari during first run entirely and the rest will try to play one, sort of trying to accept one of the three hairstyles. And some will play male qunari.

I still really, REALLY want to play a qunari, because it's the first game we get the chance to, especially it will be the first game to feature FEMALE qunari (and even if it is just your Inquisitor)
Welp, I will try to create my Zhorah and see how long I can take the Mohawk. Otherwise I'll do dalish mage first. :/

The bun thing almost works. Almost.

If it was more like this that would be rad.

Or something like this Side cut with longer hair up top.

Also I've seen some amazing fish scale hairstyles too. I am just imagining some sort of Qunari related symbol here instead

Like I know a vashoth wouldn't have a house of tides pattern but that would still be rad if there was some other cultural symbol that the vashoth use in that vein. Or like the triangular/diamond shapes that are so often used in the vitaar.

I'm still making my fem quinari mage for my third playthrough and  think I can still make a character that looks good. These qunari look amazing even with the terrible hair options.

Spoiler

It's just a shame, better hair would make them look even more amazing and add a lot more verity to what we could create.

The male qunari looks good. The female qunari just makes me sad, because her face is so good, but it's let down so badly by the terrible hair.

I love how, in the final version of the game, the mudbun on female qunari still has that weird little bald patch between the horns, whereas it seems to be absent from the male version. I'd be tempted to say it's a result of extreme forehead slider adjustment but for the fact that I've seen it on every single femqunari sporting that style (including the one from the demos and official streams), and I've never seen it once on any of the males. There's one almost-but-not-quite-bordering-on-feminine hairstyle out of the entire set... one hairstyle that looks like it may have, at one point early in its inception, been made with female characters in mind, and it doesn't even fit properly over a female character's head. What gives?

^^They let the whole character creation down with the terrible hair options, although some of the male hair choices are decent enough.

I was almost finished typing out a very heart felt message and then it got wiped so instead enjoy these very short but to the point subjects.

1: Okay so what happened to qunari having more than one set of horns?

2: My main reason at least for buying Inquisition at least was female qunari.

3: Fealling very disheartened by lack of options for this race in general.

4: Having helmets would have aloud pretending of proper hair underneath helmet but lol we get poisenous face paint.

5: personally I have never wanted to have helmet covering one of my characters so the above statement should show how much I wanted to play a qunari.

And lastly like many others have stated I will try for female qunari for my first play-threw but will probably end up playing female elf x( (and yes if I have a choice I never play as "male")

uuuurgh looking at those screenshots just makes me more wistful for what we could have D:
The faces look STUNNING, and then you look up to the hair and... well. Who thought giving the mudbun this huge gap was a good idea? Why couldn't they simply do a similar bun-hairstyle like what the other races get? In real life, hardly ANY woman I've ever seen parts her hair so precisely in the middle for a bun. Well... except my grandma. My grandma does it.

I agree with the faces looking stunning and then the hair...just..yeah. Feels like an afterthought, for everyone, but especially qunari. Ho-hum.

Well there goes my decision of making a Qunari.

Now, I know what you lot say about hair not being a big deal. However, technically it is. If you're going to have an in depth and complex character creation design option for your players. Then you best damn put your best foot forward in representing every race in that creation perfectly.

I am also aware the Qunari were added in last minute, however, that doesn't excuse the laughably bad bad bad hair choice for the Qunari.

I was really looking forward to playing a Qunari I really was, a male Qunari, but I just can't. I know what you lot have said about concept art changing, but you're forgetting their more canon appearances in the comic book. I got quite use to the way were kind of established for them to look. I was going to make some flamboyant, godly Qunari shaman. And now....I can't even manage that with whatever that we were given.

Looks like I'm going elf once again. Cause I can't even look at the Qunari without dying a little of shock.

So I'm just going to go against the grain here and say that this hasn't even remotely hurt my enthusiasm to play a female Qunari. Not many options, no shoulder length hair? I can deal. I'll just call it sense, a person with sense will realize that hair of any real length will be an irritation that one who lives on the battlefield shouldn't have to deal with. She's just being smart by keeping her hair short. Long hair requires care, and attention, and cleaning, and brushing, and constant haircuts. Not good for a warrior who's life is that of a mercenary/Inquisition leader. Sure, it's annoying having to roleplay around the short hair... But I can handle it. It's no different than back when I had to roleplay why my elf's ears in DAO were so much tinier and flatter than any other elf's in the game (it was a small genetic defect, she hid it with her hairstyle because she was self conscious about it).

I will be playing as male qunari reaver on the first run. My female qunari knight-enchanter will probably be the fifth run. Hopefully at that point some new hairstyles will be added through patches or mods. If not, I will try to make the most of what we have now.

It's funny and sad that men have even more customisation options then women, because they have beards and horns work better for them. Someone in charge of "horns are more important then hairstyles" decision underestimated hair influence in human culture.

It also seems that black hair will look better than anything else, which is ironic, considering white-haired giants we have in all previous images for qunari, DA:I Tarot included.

Long hair kept in a bun or braid is much less fuss and much easier to maintain than haircuts every two weeks that short hair requires to stay short or daily waxing/shaving that a sparkling bald head requires. As far as it not being good for a warrior...tell that to the Vikings, Samurai and many other warrior civilizations/organizations.

Well, there is a bun hairstyle for female Qunari. So what's the problem?
