Sigh. I loved the human female and the male elf hairstyles of the first models. I would have loved the human female braided style for my Qunari mage.  :(

And the sad thing is not just that we have so few and sad choices, but that many NPC have much better/original hairsyles.

Morrigan, Leliana, Cassandra, Josephine, Cullen...Even Calpernia have her own hairstyle!!!

Well after seeing this thread it makes me like the game even less. Hairs in game are just pathetic to those. I think I will come back to modded Skyrim right when I finish Inquisition. And surely I won't buy any new Bioware game if they will still work with EA. I was really hyped to play as female qunari, but after 30 hours of disapointment I said "**** it!" and started all over as an elf. I can only pray for mods...

Pretty disappointed with a lack of hair options for the qunari. I do like some of the horns but only having 3 non horn options is bad IMO.

That is a very good point.

Again, it's difficult to complain. After all, the CC, hell Inquisition in general is absolutely amazing. But that doesn't mean we can quite ignore or be happy with the fact that there are some areas of the game that are, well, let's say lacking. One of those areas is the hair options. And it IS a big deal. Character customization and immersion has always been a huge part of Bioware games, so I think we're in the right to be more than a little upset by the notable lack of quantity and quality when it comes to hair options.

Once again, I must ask, what ever happened to THESE hairs?

These looked amazing  :(

I'm really, really hoping we get a small DLC package down the road that is, more or less, The Black Emporium 2.0. It would solve a lot of the outstanding problems a lot of players have with the game:

-More weapons

-More unique companion items

-Many more unique armors and schematics

And, most important to this thread;

-A "Mirror of Transformation" that would allow us to alter our appearance in the game as well as give Bioware a chance to add in the hairstyles that so many are hoping for.

What I fear, is that this might've been on purpose. A part of me wants to believe that longer hair proved troublesome and they lacked the time to implement them, due to other priorities. but seeing how I've seen more and more game companies make use of the DLCs as an excuse to put things people really want on the shelf to grab more money, I'm feeling skeptical about it truly being an issue.

It's perhaps 50/50, both an issue and plan to grab more money, we'll just have to see. A DLC with all these things is better than nothing considering how awful the hairstyles are now. Then again, we already have modders who are doing their best to mod new hairstyles, and all for free.

Except the console players don't get mods so dlc (or an extremely unlikely patch) is their only hope for decent hair.

this is a good idea a lots of peoples want more hairstyle.

But there one thing i don't get why the heck the alpha build of hairstyle are more awesome then the one we got the crappy hairstyle from hell? there maybe 4 type of hairstyle that i like the rest is so much ugly (2 for hair for evryone and 2 for qunari)

Well of course, though my point wasn't for them to not release a DLC at all, a patch would be better, but my point was that I fear this might've been done on purpose so they could slip in a hairstyle DLC (knowing how popular good hairstyles are in the modding community) and earn from it. The hairstyles weren't amazing in Origins or DA2, but they weren't this where almost every female character is either bald or has the hairstyle of a man.

I have my doubts on my conspiracy being true, we saw how Bioware released a free DLC in regards to the unsatisfying ending ME3 had. We'll just have to see how this goes.

Only thing we can do, is still lamenting here on the forum, hoping something will be done for us.

Supporting modders help only one fraction of the gamers, and the risk is that when people got mods, pc gamers will stop asking for better hair, and trolling the console players with the "just play on PC" or "PC mastteerraaace" or others stupid things like those, killing every rightful complain. -_-

I wish modders all the best of luck in implementing new hairs for PC players, but as Felya says, that will sadly leave us console bums out on our, well, bums.

With so many many threads and so many many people voicing their concerns and complaints over both the quantity and quality or the hairstyles in Inquisition, I have hope that we'll see Bioware make some effort to help us all out.

They did mention that they planned on several patches and small additions that they wished could be in the game at launch before they ran out of time, and I would hope this issue is one of those addressed by that plan.

Until then, all we can do is continue to make ourselves heard.

Read maybe the first couple of pages so I don't know if there is anything planned or not, fix or otherwise.

Point, though, is that after playing the main campaign as a male human warrior, I was excited to play the game as a female qunari mage just to see it through the eyes of something entirely alien from my first playthrough.  MASSIVELY dissapointed in the hair/horn styles for the race as a whole.  Horns are cool I guess, but the hair is ridiculous, and could easily have been exactly not what it was.  I really don't understand the art direction they were going for.  Long silver haired, horned up woman on the race card, weird knappy cornrows and mini-mohawks in the customization menu?  What?  Bizzarre.  Is this garbage being looked at at least?  How can a game programmer look at that crap and say, "Yeah, that works," to represent that race with?

Come on, BioWare, I know you can do amazing stuff with what you're given, but the weird inconsistencies that you guys do makes everyone always feel untirely underwhelmed by the product as a whole, especially with Dragon Age.  I mean seriously, amazing gameplay, strangely inconsistent mechanics, amazing graphics, strangely inconsistent character models and customization options.

Still, regardless of the weirdness, I do love the game, and will replay it, but I'm not touching the Qunari until the weird hair is fixed.  Hopefully fixed. :P

Seriously.  What the hell.

I believe those who were lead (by in-game art, characters and concept art) to expect options for long hair on Qunari would be glad to pay for DLC that would add these options in. Even if some make claims that it's a cash grab, those who are really upset by the lack of customization would still gladly pay for additional content.

I was planning on playing a Qunari for my second playthrough and didn't know about the hair thing. Based on all the art I've seen for the characters I'm surprised that none of that made it into the game. The long white hair seems so iconic for the race that it does make the game come across as unfinished without that significant design feature.

This issue has kept me from playing a Qunari which I had my heart set to. I was so looking forward RPing as a sexy qunari but sadly with the current hairstyles available that option has been shelved until either the amazing modders over at the nexus can provide us with more or a DLC comes out. although personally I will not spend money on a DLC containing purely cosmetic items, things that should have been included in the original game release. it is very disappointing.

I obviously love the game and the DA franchise, but imagine my face when I excitedly rolled a Qunari on launch day and clicked through the hair options just like.. "where are they??".

I've got art books and concept art and graphic novels and the tarot cards all depicting Qunari with long beautiful white hair. And all I got in the game were short cornrows.  :crying:

I find it funny, in a sad funny and not haha funny kinda way, that the Tarot Card for a Female Qunari Inquisitor on the in-game character selection screen depicts the character with long white hair.  If Bioware couldn't make that feature available in game, for whatever reason, fine.  BUT, the Tarot Card should have been changed accordingly.  Leaving it as is is just a slap in the face / kick in the groin...

With rough a bajillion threads crying out for more/better hair, I would hope that SOMEONE at Bioware gas heard us and something will be done about it in future patches DLC.

I am happy to see so many people are on this thread and others like it posting our grievances.  Its not that we don't like the game but that we like the game enough that those areas that are lacking stand out as such eyesores. I am sure Bioware is listening, though I have no idea if anything will happen to fix anything we have brought up.  But I am glad to see so many like minded people.  I will keep eagerly waiting for some sort of fix so I can finally play a true qunari but till then I have plenty of other Inquisitors to keep me busy.

Thanks for pulling this thread up again from an undeserved grave in history.

Bioware, like other game developers, likes to point out that its employees work on different teams; people working on game mechanics are obviously distinct from those drafting new characters/plots and also from graphic/model designers. So while I imagine (more so than see) that a fair number of developers are busy fixing the various bugs plaguing the game, what are the designers doing? Can we have a few of them working on hair styles please? (and the PJs while we are at it)

I'm dead serious when I say that I'd actually shell out for a hair DLC just to get an alternative to the haunting nightmare that hair is currently. It's horrible for pretty much all races, but Qunari really got hit with the ugly stick. Oh, and just to make it perfectly clear: I'm not talking about wanting a buzz cut variant 27.

With the "good taste" the designers of the hairstyles have at BioWare, we could be getting a buzzucut with several variations of sideburns...

Really, who thought that gving female characters evident male balding patterns was a good idea, again???

But I have to admit a buzzucut for female Qunari would be still better than what we have...

I've finished my Qunari mage run, but I'd like to play at least the DLCs (if there are going to be...the silence is not encouraging the optimism, here) with at least decent hair. And the same for my others characters. I'm sick of having or a character that seem the same as everyone around the forum (since there are like four decent hairstyles for female characters, maybe five) or one with evident male hair.

I have to admit it's more than a bit disappointing when you want to create this (note the hair):
