Here's the hornless mohawk option. What the hell.... ![]()

Wait, is there a downloadable Character Creator for DA:I available?
no and they confirmed that there won't be.
I wonder if you can help with this, Was the decision for the hair based on animation/clipping issues?
I do not know the specific reasons why the qunari options are the ones that they went with.
Would it have been so hard to make a hairstyle like any of these?
Whether or not something is added is going to be a function of technical difficulty crossed with opportunity costs as well as time remaining. Unfortunately it's something difficult to quantify, and technical difficulty is a bucket for all sorts of things from the raw challenge in performing a task and the unique challenges that come with working with a particular environment and tools and the myriad of challenges that may come.
If something is easy to do and provides value, it tends to get done (easy to do, high reward tasks are easy to prioritize). Unless the task turns out to be more difficult than expected or something else considered a higher priority takes precedent (both of which are effectively time arguments).
I seriously doubt they are going to make a DLC just for more hairstyles I mean come one guys
Didn't ME2 and ME3 have an "alternative outfit" DLC?
My theory is that they simply put most the "hair resources" for the qunari into the horns. I think making/adapting the hairstyles for the qunari and making a whole new slider just for that would have taken too much time (or something). So instead we get lots of lovely horn styes but only four very short hairstyles. It still would have been hard work for them to make all those horn options and make sure they work. Seeing as they are unique to the Qunari that's actually time and resources specifically for the Qunari customization. So even more work on creating better hair options for them was just something they didn't do for whatever reason and that's really not unreasonable considering the amount they have already done.
I am really hoping that somehow the textures at least will look better when the game comes out though.
The hair options are disappointing. I'm putting the blame on the Frostbite 3 engine and that Bioware probably really struggled trying to get hair textures and models to work nicely in that engine. I'm guessing that at least 80% of the hairstyle choices for all races will be really short styles. I can only put my hope on the miracle that modding may become possible to help fix this lackluster part of character creation.
You guys get amazing horn options. I get that it would be nice to have more hair options, but I think they made the right trade-off. Horns are much more striking.
Here's the hornless mohawk option. What the hell....
*snip*
XD I can't breathe.
See my long haired solution would've hidden that! It would've been for the better! But noooo short hair for everyone so now we can see the obvious stubs are obvious XD
You're probably right, it just seems like maybe they could have done some different kinds of mohawk and bun styles so the hair would stay far away from the horns even if it's slightly longer. But I'm not a dev, and maybe this problem is harder to solve than it seems.
As for hornless being limited as well, I imagine they would be reluctant to bring in a bunch of extra options for that one subset of options.
Yeah they probably could of but we don't know at what point they decided they can't have qunari with full hair customization, I'm sure they tried really hard but it eventually got out of their hands. I mean I don't agree with their priorities I would of limited horns down to 1 style or at least a variation on that style or would of kept in the clipping but, I understand why they did it.
Probably not.
But they could include hairstyles in the dlc.
Dragon's Dogma did that...

I don't get why there are even stubs! Sten never had stubs. If this was all about convenience, then why add something atrocious?
That female Qunari hair is the worst looking hair I think I've ever seen in a game
it all looks the same (some variation of bald with spraypaint or tubes that are supposed to be cornrows? dreads?) and the textures look straight out of Morrowind or some other really old game it's especially jarring considering how detailed and realistic the faces are. I'm not usually this harsh but damn. I made a thread expressing my worry about this almost a year ago and people told me I was worrying too much and that it's a shiny new engine and that the crappy hair on Varric and Cassandra was because it was pre-alpha and the final hair would totally not be like that, that the reason half the companions are bald is due to story reasons and not crappy hair reasons...Is the joke on them or me?
Would it have been so hard to make a hairstyle like any of these?
*edit* I just realized, we can't even cover it with a hood or helmet since Qunari can't wear them
I think the joke is on neither since they said that about companion hair which has gotten better.
Those examples would have been nice.
It is but well HUMAN BOAT HERE I COME! *jumps*
Even got my hair all figured out
Nope.
I only wish it was
lol I didn't notice that.
Why would they do that? XD
Edit:
I see it a bit but it's not that bad.
I still am baffled you're stuck to that short hairstyle as hornless though. WTF
Just looking at that hair compared with every non-Qunari style out there makes me cry. Forget short, not short, whatever. It's just bad. Bad textures, Not nearly 'thick' enough... Forget bad toupee, It's like a layer of mud caked and shaped to be a hair helm. And for those saying BioWare has always been bad at hair, true, but this sucks in quality compared to non-Qunari DAI options. Great horns cannot make up for this. It just can't.
All 3 hairstyles out there for Qunari suck. If we were going to be limited to three styles of actual hair, they should've been actualized better. More definition, better texture and just better meshing in general. And no bald doesn't count here, as it is a lack of hair.
Also the hornless being dark spots looks silly. It just looks silly.

Hair was already being made though, couldn't one of them be at least somewhat attractive? Every one of them is straight up awful. Why was the facial modeling so detailed and had so much effort put into it and the hair such an afterthought? ![]()

No clue. Maybe it was more convenient that way?
I just don't see why they wouldn't give hairless Qunari long hair to hide that if anything. Why would you want to to be so visible? (which it is with the short styles).

Okay I'm not even mad anymore this is hilarious. So much truth. Really some volume for the hair wouldn't have been out of place.
It really does.

Hm... those dark craters are actually problematic, since I'm planning on making a hornless male....
Since his facial hair will be dark, those things might look like random patches of dark hair on his head depending on the lighting. No, no, he simply couldn't face Dorian looking like that....
Hmmmmm.....

The hornless option is ridiculous though. It's not even a real option. You're not hornless, you're given ugly stubs that look like giant bruises.
Went back and found some more female qunari concept art for funsies.
Pony-tail/mohawk combinaiton -pretty sweet looking actually.
Long flowing locks -Sephiroth is totes jealous.
Sigh. Ah well, I already picked out the one that I'm going to use for my second character, though I'd be thrilled if they released more between now and then.
To add it's very possible that if we show that there is an interest for additional hair styles DLC that we can get some official longer hairs, so count me in that boat. I have literally 100s of hair styles for female PCs in Skyrim and I would of bought pretty much any hair pack Bethesda put out, the same is true for this game. (I may have a problem with armor and hair mods, as I likely have over 50 armor mods and a dozen hair mods).
Didn't ME2 and ME3 have an "alternative outfit" DLC?
Yea, but I doubt they'll one just for hair in a character creator

Ah well. I'm done. It's bed time. Been nice knowing you, my fem qunari character idea.
Humans and elves... here I come.
Yea, but I doubt they'll one just for hair in a character creator
They did in SWtOR ![]()
Like everyone else, I am very disappointed with our options(or lack there of). We can either be bald, have a fauxhawk, short hair in a small bun, or what looks like cornrows.
The fauxhawk makes up for the lack of options. Its the only hair style I need lol ![]()

They eventually figured out people love hair-styles in SWTOR and released additional style packs which were wildly popular, so it's certainly possible.

What do you mean by "hair was already being made" though? Like, the hair options for the other races?
