So you feel it was an aesthetic choice then?  Just making sure I understand your perspective.

I feel it was a very poor aesthetic choice. If not then the person modeling those hairstyles just didn't give a crap. These are even worse than the 3 versions of the Friar Tuck in DA2

I just tell the truth! Vive la.... something!

The worst part is, I'm very afraid that this is the only 'polish' we're going to see, that.... those.... will be ingame. Not only on our Qunair, but on a huge bunch of NPCs.

XD

Oh boy :X that's gonna be fun. So even when I roll human there won't be any escape :o

This forum did not have the appropriate emote to express how I feel about the female Qunari's hair so I went to a different forum and brought one back face_barfcat_zps6b720227.gifface_barfcat_zps6b720227.gifface_barfcat_zps6b720227.gif

They have detailed sliders for adams apples, lip shine, etc...and those ugly, poorly modeled abominations are our only choices for female Qunari hair? We have to stare at chunky blobs and lesions the whole game? She can't even wear a helmet or hood to hide her shame.

PERFECT!

Yeah it's such a stark change in quality it's baffling. And hornless should've at least been able to use a helm Poor dear is gonna have those craters on her head and no way to hide them =/

Allan has been nice enough to post some in the other thread.

Shall I merge the threads?  I don't know if we need two of these open.

I don't see why not. They're about the same thing anyway.

So I have seen people saying that horn options are so great that it makes up for hair but qunaris have always had combinations of hair and horns (optional) before. I think they should have cut out something else to focus on hair since hair really makes or breaks the look, it doesn't matter how awesome the horns are if the head is bald.

Throwing my hat in the ring for wanting more/improved hairstyles for Qunari.

Oh, and a true hornless option, because this:

baldqun_zps9a66cdef.jpg

...is not hornless! It looks like the horns were sawed off at the scalp!

I'm terrified that the lack of attractive customization options for Qunari will lead to few people playing as them - sending the message to BioWare/EA that offering Qunari as an option was a waste of time/funds. Which is not the case! I was SO excited to play as a Qunari when they were announced. Just... no so much anymore. :crying:

Allan - why were the bald/hornless options given ugly blotches in place of horns? They're hideous and superfluous. Sten never had blotches.

Well you know realistically if there were Qunari walking around in real life who had no horns those spots would be there so if anything its a more realistic choice, and really I'm sorry making a DLC with more hairstyles just to make people happy is just sad if you ask me.

Does the Lore say anything about this? I mean, could that be the reason there are only short hair options? Maybe it's a Tal-Vashoth thing?

I really hope they at least improve textures of hair.. and if they could even give us some volume to those hairstyle it'd be better, now they look just flat.

I dunno how other people feel, but I feel that they, all three, are in general, bad models. That's compared to every other race's hair that we've seen in DAI. No definition, volume or height. The bun is tiny. Textures seem... off....

We wouldn't be having this issue if we felt that the quality of the hair (not horns) was similar to other races, but I feel like a good amount of us don't. Me included. It breaks my heart to say it, because I know someone worked hard on it, but it just doesn't meet the same standards, as hair, to the humans' for example. This comes especially into play for hornless Qunari (though they don't really look hornless, just sheared off at scalp level). Take a look at the bun style while hornless. From what we saw on the stream, I feel it looks like a helmet. Made of mud.

And now I feel like an ass.

EDIT: There's not even a buzzcut style. A buzzcut.

Hm... those dark craters are actually problematic, since I'm planning on making a hornless male....

Since his facial hair will be dark, those things might look like random patches of dark hair on his head depending on the lighting.  No, no, he simply couldn't face Dorian looking like that....

Hmmmmm.....

I don't believe thats the hornless option but one of the options for cut off horns. Theres another premade with a full head of hair with no stubs though I suppose the hair could be covering those up. Either way, you can't see any stubs so no problem.

Yep.

Hopefully they'll keep this in mind for future games if we get Qunari again. All those lovely horns are wasted on that hair. Just wasted.

Well the concept art for our qunari quizzies always features very long white hair and in DA2 the Tal-Vashoth had all same hair as Qunari's had, which is longer than any of options we currently have.. it's not very long either but it has more volume.

I agree, the quality of the modeling and textures is really bad in addition to the poor stylistic choice.

Exactly I just...

It'd be one thing if the short hair was well done. Then fine I might not like it being short but it looks like hair so I can't complain overmuch.

It doesn't even achieve that tho.

Shame they didn't use them for femqunari then =/

On the other hand, then not having tattoos means that what would have gone to those could have gone to a few other hairstyles.

And before someone brings up the Vitaan face paint, I consider that under the people responsible for armors instead of CC.

I feel like hair is probably harder than Tattoos but I am not arguing against more hair options, I just think they would have done it if it was easy to do (like Allan said).

so let me get this straight, someone commenting that the DA:I love interests are unattractive is laughed off as all kinds of shallow, but now we're losing our minds because we don't have hairstyles for Qunari that we consider attractive?

How is it sad? Bioware makes a bit more money, and the people who really want more variety in hairstyles (like me) get what they want.

It seems like a win-win to me.

Heck I wanted short hair for my Qunquisitors. Something like Cassandra's cropped style with horns. Thing is, I want it to be comparable to the other races.

Horns were not fully/correctly formed at birth. As such, hornless.

I mean, I'm pretty sure qunari models have protrusions where horns go, as shown in that hornless pic.

They would have to redesign all qunari or make a special model for the hornless most people are complaining about. Not worth the effort really.

Optics would likely be the biggest issue.  Some people would conclude that they were intentionally not put in the game so we could sell them as DLC and what have you.

Not to mention, if it gets a lot of money, followed by an intense uptick in people rolling those who are but aren't of the Qun, it'll be a way of speaking with our money. We'll play Qunari... just make em.... better.
