I can't decide if I'll just resign myself to the blob-creature hair and make my female Qunari a "Beauty" esque joke character, making her as hideous as possible, or just skip female Qunari all together. :pinched:

Sadly qunaris won't even be able to hide bad hair with helmets. If only I could have pimphat for my qunari to hide that hair, it would no longer to be so much issue. But I have to watch it whole game, during every conversation, cutscene, romance scene.. you can't hide it in anyway.

Yep.

No helms for Qunari kind of blows now =/

this is the first time we've seen females though

Yes in the game we haven't seen qunari females (as race) before. In concept arts we have and in DA comics, there they always have long white hair. So somehow I got the impression that it'd be close what we will get in the game as well. But my exceptations were too high.

You'd play a dwarf if you skipped her right?

I don't think I could deal with the heartbreak of making my lady Qunari a joke character :( she'll just have to be benched til mods or...forever maybe.

Human lady is going to be lovely though. I wish I could've shared some of her hairs with my femqunari.

I guess you could escape it by going bald with horns...

Well as sad as I am about the hair, nothing can stop me from playing my female Qunari mage. Nothing.I'm too set in my ways. At the very least I love the design of their faces.

I'm hoping part the reason the texture on the hair looks so bad is because of the color. Maybe it won't look so blobby if it's white....

Yeah, the metal sheathing just looked... off to me. And no horn rings! Ugh.

Total separation here, but I noticed that the male Qunari shown in CC doesn't have the skin covering his horns' beginning slowly darkening to black, while the female's does. I don't have pictures, but it looks a bit ridiculous for males, as the skin looks.. puffy..

See?

Males:

Spoiler

See how weird the male looks? WHY?

EDIT: The dark fade on females is still there when bald, and dark skinned, I just don't have a pic.

I see what you mean now, the skin around the base of the horns does look a bit weird on the males... hmm, maybe they should've used the same/a similar texture for that area that the Qunari in DA2 had, it was a lot less... meaty.

I planned to play every race gender and class combo, but female Qunari might end up bumped off the list >_< I hope lady dwarves and elves stay fabulous, we already know humans do.

Do you play on PC? I really want to switch so I can use mods but it's so expensive, I dunno.

Since BW accounced qunaris it has been all I'm looking forward playing. I was first planning two qunari ladies but after all gender and race-gating I changed one of to them to male since female qunaris don't have any option I'd want (and I'm not even that picky any of Solas, Dorian, Varric, Cass or Cullen would have done!). I still had my self-insert character, Valpur Adaar planned and I wanted her to be intimidating but still rather pretty. Now I feel the CC makes it very hard for me to make Valpur which is bummer since I was most looking forward playing her. It's also bummer cause I think CC otherwise is something I really look forward, it's just that with qunaris the quality of it seems seriously lacking compared to other races and it has lot to do with lack of hair (hair has always been one of major choices in the CC).

I'm a little disappointed as well, since I planned on playing a male Qunari with long white arishok-like hair and if that's not possible for the females it probably won't be for the males either.

At least this helps me decide which character to play first I guess. Now I'm left with deciding between female human warrior and female elven mage and will do the Qunari playthrough later when there are some hair mods.

Ooooh. I'm pretty sure lady elves and dwarves shall stay fabulous ;) they should share most of the human slider features.

Yeah mods might not even come out thanks to frost bite though so =/ bleh. But before you switch I'd visit some PC gaming centric forums and ask around. Don't want to spend a whole lot of money then regret it after all.

The moral of the story is to not plan ahead so hard...

And have a few more hair options I suppose. :P

Agreed, I think what we see is what'll ship. And I think patching will be reserved to bugs.

Yeah, the skin-darkening to horn thing on females but not on males plus the clay hair makes me think "rushed, rushed, rushed", despite the horns being so well done. With Qunari the quality is just not there compared to other races.

I'm sad because my original firstQuisitor was a Vashoth too, now... I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll go back to my go-to. Male human mage.

I wonder how many people who were going to play Qunari (I was so excited about it) will skip it now? I wonder if that'll make BioWare think people just don't like Qunari and putting them in was a mistake.

Dwarves was apparently the least played in Origins and they're back, so the qunari wouldn't be different

Though I've seen plenty people who still want to play qunari regardless

Statistically majority of players will play human male warrior but I think qunari options would take lot of players as well since it's new and qunaris look pretty cool, this big horned race.. that just has some hair issues ^^;

I kinda think BW should have though their qunari decisions more. Qunaris are awesome but they have been always shown with white or grey, rather long hair. That's nothing close to what we have as options so it kinda breaks lore to me as well. Also the lack of helmets is big turn-off as well, I'm not really happy about facepaint decision.

I too am throwing in my lot with the people highly dissatisfied with the qunari hair options as well as the decision to merge hair/horns together.
Playing as a female qunari / Vashoth is what most excited me for this game (aside from all the other greatness we've seen) We've never met any female qunari within the other games, and only one in the comic, so the prospect of being able to play one, in such a high position as leader of the Inquisition made me EXTREMELY happy.

But seeing those four nearly identical and rather boring hairstyles really dropped my intent to make my main inquisitor a female qunari, or to play one at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for long flowing hairstyles, or highly intricate braided ones, or 50 new options. But four nearly identical short styles? That's really bitter. Especially after seeing how grand and amazing the CC is in the whole, and how Bioware made some really amazing choices there.

Hair is something that's extremely important in a CC, and you just have to take a look at any "hair and face" - section on the Nexus-modding community to see the sheer number of mods that are related to hair, and the number of people downloading / endorsing them. So to shift the focus completely on the horns of the qunari and neglecting the hair seems a strange choice for me. (As well as tieing them together)

I was immeditely reminded of the Charr in Guild Wars 2, a feline, horned race. And the CC of Guild Wars 2 you have some rather limited options to customize your characters, and yet it is immensly satisfying because you can create such varied characters.

Horns and hair are seperate choices, which makes for unique and great mix-ups and creations. And it doesn't seem that hard to implement to me. You'd just have to make sure the horns have a fixed position / width at the skull, as well as the hair. You couldn't get any hair falling down in front of the face or something like that, but otherwise that could make for some cool hairstyles. So... unless there really is some technical issue, I don't see why they didn't do that.

So yeah... I'm either hoping Bioware might reconsider and releases some additional hairstyles later on (might even seperate hair / horns) ... or I'm waiting for some really dedicated and passionate modders to tackle the Frostbite engine :(

Really? I would have guessed Rogue with the upmost confidence.
