I resent that . Mass effect was a good exemple in giving us 'Alien' that didn't look human while being attractive and cool .

If you like a 'human' setting , then game should put all kind of humans beside the Tall handsome white mens and the Pretty blond . There are millions of variations we do not see . Since due to time , budget or engine restriction they cannot do it . We can stick with Alien..which is fine too .

I'm one of that crowd , it is a fantasy/rpg game for a reason . If they stick it to just human normal then you wouldn't get dragon since they don't exist just like Alien .

...that were based off reptiles birds and fish :P (Talking about Thane, Mordin, Wrex, Tali and Garrus here).

The geth were the Geth and the Asari were well blue skinned human women with tentacle heads.

Their appearances were not based on simians. The Krogan was based on a bat, I think. The drell looks like a fish. The turian looks like a feline in the face with an insect-like body structure. Salarians look like straight up "we will abuct and anal probe you" aliens from the Communion series. And quarians, if I'm not mistaken, look pretty human under those helmets thanks to some dev or another stealing a stock image of a fashion model and saying, "This is what Tali's face looks like."

And that's what ME aliens were based on which is why they looked interesting instead of uncanny valley or too humanoid. Or like mecha chtulu.

Actually hell even the reapers are based off fish.

OH GOD WHY DID YOU REMIND ME. THAT SOUND THEY MADE IN ME1 GOD.

They'd come out the floor and I'd jump even though I knew those suckers were coming. :(

I personally don't care . I grow fond and loving all the squad I had , save for the humans Kaidan/Ashley that I wanted to space and a few others . I don't care if Mordin eat flies as his dinner or lick his eyes . And I certainly do not care if Wrex shed his skin when none is looking . I. LOVE. THEM . And that's all that matter to me..and I hope in futur Mass effect they give us the same thing , which is charachter we can cry over if they die and some will want to marry and settle down with .

Anyway on to Qunari ladies.

You know...I would love some long braids. Some microbraids that end at the shoulders would've been lovely. Probably a PITA to make but it'd been so pretty.

I might be slow. "L" word?

*whispers* "Lazy" *cough*
Technical limitations for long hair are one thing that's totally understandable, but honestly, the lack of texture and variation in those four ugly hairstyles seems to me like someone was cutting corners...

If we want more races we have to sometimes accept that "every character we might want" may not be a possibility. That dissing a whole race due to it not meeting the standards you want, despite other possibilities, and then taking into account that each person have wants as narrow as yours.
That the only way to truly meet that qualification is to have 1 race=human that is fully customizable.

I understand what you're saying, but there are a couple of baffling decisions that Bioware made in regards to the female Qunari that just don't make sense (namely the lack of ability to mix/match hair/horn style and not allowing us to use the other hairstyles on a hornless Qunari.) I don't think those are unreasonable requests! If you're going to take the time to let us play Qunari, you'd think they'd be willing to invest the time to make us WANT to play them by giving us a little more variety. That's all.

ahhh

You said L Word and I started thinking of the TV show and I was just confused for a second.

Anyway, you could be right. It could have been a case of cutting corners. I'm not sure. Honestly? I'm willing to let that go and offer up cold, hard cash for DLC that will rectify the situation. I mean - seriously - I will say, "Whatever, so you cut corners. I know there's an EA contract hanging over everyone's heads with a giant deadline to boot. Here's my money. Take it. Take your time. Please deliver nice hairstyles in 2015."

I have to say, if they knew Qunari were never going to have helms, they should of thought of implementing more than 4 hair styles. Especially 2 of which are hardly ever used by anyone ever.
It's all rather disappointing.

The bottom line is that BioWare originally designed the humans, dwarves, elves, and qunari (for the Dragon Age series) ALL based on simian physiology with little variation other than pointy ears and height. The qunari weren't even originally considered ox-men, they were just considered giant men. Hence why Sten, as well as every other qunari NPC in the original game, had no horns. BioWare later added horns, but the qunari still looked humanlike. They didn't have hooves, walk on all fours like a centaur, nor did they even have body hair. Just horns which struck me as decorative. (And the devs gave them pointy elf ears to boot.)

My point being that there's no reason (not even a pre-existing reason according to previous GAMES) to uglify our customization options for a qunari under the weak guise of, "We don't want em to look too human or somethin!" Come on!

I agree wholeheartedly with the request for CC DLC, I would pay to have better aesthetics for the Qunari.

In fact, if mods prove to be impossible, I doubt I'll ever touch a Qunari PC in their currect state.

I know it's vain, but the most popular mods to almost every game with a dedicated Custom Content community is hair. Sims, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout... Skyrim? To name just a FEW. And there's a reason for it. People want to make characters they find aesthetically pleasing, as well as characteristically in-keeping with their own imaginations, and unique.

I'm thrilled for those whose tastes have not been soured by the current Qunari CC state, but I'm very much in the 'this needs improving' corner.

There also was no plans to allow to play as dwarf and elf. And they have more that four hairtyles to them. So why should people, who wanted to play qunari, be grateful? Especially the ones who wanted to play hornless qunari (so tons fo horn styles does nothing for them).

There's zero clipping issues for hornless qunari anyways, why not just give them all human hairstyles?

Qunari were a late addition. They confirmed them a while after the returning DAO races.

They were a later addition as In Exile says. But it wasn't that much later after finding out we can play elves and dwarves. Elves and dwarves were announced a little over a year ago (E3 2013?). The qunari were announced some time in July or August of 2013. They've had over a year to work on the qunari. And when they announced qunari as playable races, that didn't mean BioWare just started working on the qunari. Obviously they were already prepping for it before announcement. So they've had OVER a year to work on the qunari.

Regardless - the hair options are inexcusable.

They're not. They're about conservation of design. All characters in Bioware games share CC resources except the very rare NPCs that get custom faces. Qunari are probably just mooks. So Bioware has a huge diminishing returns problem with designing unique qunari hair options that only the player will see if he or she picks them.

Now you might say Bioware should invest in content like this event if it's more expensive than usual CC features. Fair enough. But I don't see it as being inexcusable any more than any other design choice based on how expensive a feature will be for the developers.

The "hornless" qunari in the DAI CC looks like an elf, but with skin cancer on her head.

Well to you it looks like that but in my opinion she had much more stronger features(which I like and what sets them apart) than the elf from what we seen in DAI.

I put several hundred hours into dragon's dogma and to me they just look like drow/grey elf being honest here.

This one has a kind of stark beauty to it that I'm really drawn to. I might do a female Qunari first now.

I'll make my male Qunari Inquisitor the complete opposite - giant decorated horns with blonde or white hair and a fancy beard to reflect his vanity and love of wealth.

So help me if all the Qunari males have are 6 different versions of Bald/Cornrows there is going to be a serious case of pre-order cancelling around here. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to find out before release.

Calm down, Vincent, let's not blow up a city on Mars for it, right?

Oh, I completely understand with dissapointment, especially with variety, the inability to mix/match. Nothing is unreasonable.

It's just people are getting a bit too into insulting how the female Qunari looks. I get that it is not everyone's style, but I'm a bit worried F!Adaar will be the next Cassandra in that everyone wants to talk about how "ugly" she is. I mean you guys should get long haired options, but it is really frustrating that the discussion has to be couched that way. Hating the options available makes sense and is perfectly reasonable, but if we can stop insulting a particular look as so incredibly "ugly" it would be nice.

Disagree with what? That qunari hair is more expensive dev resource wise or that its a justification?
