Issues that Blizzard seemed to be able to handle with the draenei years ago? I mean, more fool me if I expected better from Bioware, but lets be honest here, Bioware is much much better than Bliz, they should be able to handle a little thing like having horns and hair. ...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here (it has been known to happen more than twice), but hasn't there been tieflings in the past that have also had horns and hair and where done by bioware?

Blizzard doesn't use the Frostbite engine so you can't really compare the two, and the past DA games wasn't on the Frostbite engine

If Qunari were never meant to have tattoos, then why couldn't of hair and horns be spit from their slider.
Horns then just become the Qunari tattoo equivalent.
Did hair and horns have to be joined together as an option?

And at what point did people in a meeting go:
"you know what would be a good idea? Only four hair styles for the race that doesn't wear hats. And better yet, we'll make two of them pretty samey and all four of them will be terrible"
"Oh that's a great idea, I foresee no problems with this, and no one will ever complain, so we don't even need to think of an acceptable reason for our slap-dash decision"

While the ****** poor hair styles are not "pre-order cancelled" rage worthy themseleves alone, the fact that the company has lacked the foresight to foresee the disappointment and fan backlash that their decision would make to even have at least prepared a two sentence response is a bit of a concern for me. I mean if they lacked the foresight to see this, what else have they missed? What else have they gotten wrong? This along with the feeling of Chantry railroading and that whole Herald business does start making me question whether this is a game I want to pay full price for. Because to be honest I'm losing my enthusiasm.

jesus are you kidding me

then don't buy the game all this threatening "I'm starting to lose my enthusiasm, dont want to pay full price..."

its quite ridiculous

as if they have to cater to your personal interests it sounds almost like you want people to go against Bioware ("what else have they missed")

laughable

I don't understand why, given how horns and hair are combined, there are so few hair patterns. I would have thought that having full control over horn shape and position would have allowed even more hair possibilities as you're no longer constrained by clipping issues caused by other variants. A lot of neat and unique looks could have been offered since hair could interact with the horns.

I could see how they might want to provide the option to preserve a favoured hairstyle while changing horn design, but looking at the pictures, not all combinations are available anyway. I understand that resources are not limitless, but given how much effort was spent making other things like tarot card designs multiple Skyhold skins, and item crafting componenets, I'm not sure why this particular element of character design was seemingly given short shrift, especially given how a hairstyle is in plain site for the entire duration of the game - I will literally spend 95% of my DAI experience looking at the back of my PC's head.

Maybe the hair looks better white?

=/

I know I'm grasping for straws at this point but what the hell.

Also do you even get the studded full upward horns with the bun?

I dunno tbh.

I have to admit when I first saw the female qunari I did not like her hair at all. I was just so excited about how tall and awesome she looked. I just assumed it was a particularly bad style that it was still low texture and would be improve.

They're a business.  If they want to stay in business, they need to cater to the customers/consumer.  We give them our money in exchange for their product.

I think maybe if i can make the face gorgeous enough i can block out the hair, someone got the image of the sheath horned qunari female? Yeah i think i can work with that one, i hope that one had the cornrow into bun thingy, i can work with that. over a month to go, and 2 playthroughs before my qunari one.

Well I'm sorry, but I don't see that as an acceptable excuse. I'd expect skills of programmers and developers to enhance along with upgrades in technology, not become more limited.
I would accept frostbite being to blame why no one can have sephiroth hair, but a bob? A pixie cut? Sorry, "it's the engine" excuse doesn't fly.

yeah and its pretty clear that they did with DA:I

saying that by not including more hair options for qunaris (which is a shame no doubt) they didn't listen is silly

Well so far I've seen more people complaining about the hair options than more people praising it.  So, looks like they haven't even pleased the majority(despite what Jessica Merizan and her "confidential inside sources" on consensus numbers would have you believe).

Ok?

Ok? and of those people disappointed some are still planning on playing qunari regardless so lets not play the majority/minority card

Please remove them, BioWare. Or make them optional.  Best to simply remove them if making them optional is more difficult.

Removing them couldn't possibly be difficult.  They look disturbing at best, and like a goofy, partial reverse mohawk at worst if you squint..

Yuck.

I really want to make a hornless guy, but that simply will not happen with the mandatory, gross, necrotic craters.

When you say necrotic, it makes me laugh because you're right: They are like giant spider bites.

That George Washington-esque do' is the only thing keeping the hornless qunari's stub blobs invisible then.....

I'd have to see that on a male first hand before I can judge, but I don't think it would look good on a guy at all.

BioWare is a AAA dev.  We expect AAA quality.  Otherwise, they need to be downgraded to single A status.  Or maybe even B level. I think there were better hair options in Bound by Flame.  A game developed by approximately 10 people.  And what's even more hilarious is that you could grow horns in that game and still have hair as well!

lol and to think this is the same forum that calls people shallow for calling the love interests unattractive.

'but the unconventional beauty guys!'

Totally off topic and you can't possibly know which companions we (here in this specific thread) do/don't find attractive. This is just argument-bait. If you don't agree with this thread then... go make another thread...

Yeah, I made a comment bout it long ago and was told "shhh... it's only an alpha build", and they were right. But the fact every other hairstyle seems to have more polish with volume and texure than these, and they're now in pre-certification, scares me into wishing I had been more yelly about it.

Okay, that's very true.  They listened in that department.  But.....what's the point of picking up slack in one area if you're going to completely drop the ball in another?
