...doesn't that technically validate Qunari conditioning, upbringing, their cultural lifestyle.... etc?  I understand the RP aspect from a player's point of view, but that in itself can break lore, for said reasons.  My memory is foggy for Dragon Age ][, but did we see many Qunari females, alas - one's with hair reflective of concept art that we've seen?

Well, it's a good thing we're not playing as Qunari then. We're Vashoth. None of the rules and restrictions imposed by the Qun would necessarily apply to the PC. There is no conflict with the lore.

The ones in the comics...have long hair.

Are they canon?

All qunari, male and female up to this point have had long hair.  If anything, long hair would appear to be a part of their culture. Not short hair.

There is absolutely no technical limitation preventing the addition of alternate hairstyles. The only limitation is that of resource allocation.

We have no idea how the engine works. I don't know if it's a technical limitation, but I'm willing to give BioWare the benefit of the doubt if it is, and accept their choices in their world if it's not. I'm not a video game developer, so I won't know.

Are you really surprised people are upset over a lack of CC options? The ability to design your PC to your own specifications is a cornerstone of BW RPGs for many. To them, it provides more immersion than any sort of realistic combat. Don't begrudge others their pet issues. They're just as valid as your own.

I don't really have issues, but that's not my point. I'm not going to be legitimately angry over a design choice. Miffed maybe. Even a little disappointed, but I'm not going to be angry. I just don't care enough, and don't understand when people do. Personally, I think the fact that we even get to make a qunari and that they spent the time designing a world that they actually fit in as a playable character is a step forward. Don't you?

No. The only Qunari female we've seen was Tallis who was an elf. Who had long pulled back hair.

We've seen no qunari females whatsoever in game.

The ones in the comics...have long hair.

I think expecting long hair was unrealistic given how every single hair we saw before the CC was short and not so great. Only 4 options, one of which is bald, however, is bad.

Dude, I don't think we're going to even get a buzz cut... Based off the other races, it seems as though both genders share the same hairstyles (I COULD BE WRONG, but I thought that's what I saw in the CC clip ), which means male Qunari are screwed :(

Males of other races do share cuts with females, but as male Qunari have actively bigger, thicker horns, and their skin doesn't darken as it leads to horns who knows? It could just be bald, bald and bald.

I hope you enjoy that run ^_^

I'll have to wait and see if dlc definitely is out before making my decision :(

I'm gonna do my best. I do think the face is striking, and the horns are lovely. So I should be able to make something beautiful; although that may take me a few days...

They are, if anything that kinda enforces my guess that it's either a technical limitation or a time and resources issue that caused the lack of hair options

More than likely, clipping issues, etc.  You could say they're too horny.

Oh bazinga.

Oh yes that pull and drag CC should allow us to make some absolutely stunning characters. I'm looking forward to using it.

I was expecting medium and long hair (but hair that was braided such as Anora or ponytails like Stens or buns). I would've adored shoulder length but hell I'd been happy with full volume buns and braids that weren't conspicuously bald near the ears (I mean...I don't know. I have hair near my ears. I'm not conspicuously bald nearly 2 inches from my ear). Even braided there should be some fuzz in that area for femQunari but there's nothing.

And then I saw that human managed to have nice medium and long hair just fine and I'm kind of like...

Only if you make it. It's a matter of perspective.

Well, I think this has been a productive *****ing session.  Should we all meet tomorrow, same time, same place for more *****'ing and moaning until we get more hair for Qunari?  Steve, that was top notch complaining.  You really dialed it in.  Those numbers were off the charts!  Keep that up and you'll get a promotion for sure!

Spoiler

Me too. This combined with healing spells being cut and female inquisitors having to wear man clothes at the fancy ball we've been anticipating has left me chittering like a cat that sees a bird out the window.

Those stump things for hornless options are just ew, though.

What was the thinking behind that?

And the only hair style to cover it up is the George Washington.

Not a good look.

That's fine. Limit us to short styles. But the bad textures and weird volume that the hairstyles we do get have... pretty unbelievable compared to every other race's hair. It looks like DA:O's hair just less shine.

So if they made qunari available but all qunari were 8 bit, would it still be a step forward and thus nothing to complain about?

:(

I let myself get too hyped. It did not help we saw the human male options first and his weren't that bad.

So I'm all "Hey femQunari probably has some pretty options!" and I'm looking at the lovely horns going "ooh we're gonna get the lovely hairstyles any minute now...any...minute...now..."

:crying:

Don't worry guys, I'm sure that during the customization of your character, you may have the horns you like... And I won't be surprised if, as the inquisitor, you may impose the qun's will to everyone!

I still think it's time and resources. Those horn options are all amazing, it's obvious they worked very hard on them, creating or altering hairstyles to work with the horns would have taken even more time and resources. I think it almost definately was doable and I can't say why they didn't do it but I don't think we can honestly say that the Qunari received less attention.

By the looks of the textures on the hairstyles we do have it could just be that they ran out of time.

Someone should create a meme with that bald female Qunari (the one with the necrotic AIDS sores on her head)

"Bioware got an extra YEAR worth of development to add Qunari as a playable race and THIS is what we get?"

Seriously, though: I'm kind of surprised they even showed the female Qunari in the CC video... They should have gone with the female dwarf and left this dirty secret for us to discover on Day One. The devs can't honestly be PROUD of the Qunari's hair choices, can they??????

Except they didn't do that. I clearly said they designed a character that fits into Thedas.

The hilarity of playing an 8bit character in FB3 would be totally worth it. It should be OK.
