Except they didn't do that. I clearly said they designed a character that fits into Thedas.

I let myself get too hyped. It did not help we saw the human male options first and his weren't that bad.
So I'm all "Hey femQunari probably has some pretty options!" and I'm looking at the lovely horns going "ooh we're gonna get the lovely hairstyles any minute now...any...minute...now..."
I skipped to the qunari options when I got to see the video, and the first imagine I got was the hornless bald one, and my reaction was "Wait, did they paint an elf?"
Those stump things for hornless options are just ew, though.
What was the thinking behind that?
And the only hair style to cover it up is the George Washington.
Not a good look.
Maybe the stumps are what the hornless qunari was suppose to look like
I also think they should get rid of those
So if they made qunari available but all qunari were 8 bit, would it still be a step forward and thus nothing to complain about?

Thank you for reminding me of that. ![]()
But yeah I just want better hairstyles dlc expansion pack. WHATEVER. I just want better ones. ![]()
Her face fits into Thedas, her hair fits into Morrowind.
I love Morrowind, tho.
That's fine. Limit us to short styles. But the bad textures and weird volume that the hairstyles we do get have... pretty unbelievable compared to every other race's hair. It looks like DA:O's hair just less shine.
I agree about the textures, but we should wait till launch before making a full judgement on those
Thank you for reminding me of that.

I'm sure Bioware has seen this thread and is considering charging us horse armour prices for hair.

I still think it's time and resources. Those horn options are all amazing, it's obvious they worked very hard on them, creating or altering hairstyles to work with the horns would have taken even more time and resources. I think it almost definately was doable and I can't say why they didn't do it but I don't think we can honestly say that the Qunari received less attention.
By the looks of the textures on the hairstyles we do have it could just be that they ran out of time.
The horns are lovely, and honestly I would be fine with the 4 styles if they had the same quality as the other 3 races...
Running out of time and releasing something that poor of quality just doesn't sit well with me. Bad time-management shouldn't be shrugged off by saying "Well at least the horns are amazing".
Come to think of it, I bet 8-bit Qunari could have better hair options... including long hair...

Well then, if we see Sten again, he had better have those ugly blotches amidst his braids. Somehow, I doubt Sten will be subjected to such horrors, though.
My guess is that they wanted to keep a hornless Qunari from looking too much like an elf, especially if the Qunari is female and therefore would lack any give-away facial hair.

I probably still would pay for it. ![]()

I think expecting long hair was unrealistic given how every single hair we saw before the CC was short and not so great. Only 4 options, one of which is bald, however, is bad.
I would have been perfectly happy with five or six hairstyles on a different slider to horns (not including bald). Non of them needed to be longer than shoulder length and they could have done braids or ponytail type things to avoid clipping issues. As long as there was some verity and as long as the textures were as good as for the other races I would have been fine with it. As has already been said several of the human styles could work on the qunari without the need to alter them much.

Your straw man looks great. I bet he has the thick, lustrous hair that you desperately want your female Qunari to have.
They said it was horned qunari Tal-Vashoth who shaved down / cut off their horns (I would imagine, in rebellion but this last bit is speculation). They also reminded us that Saarebas had cut horns in DA2.
But the things I am talking about aren't cut horns. They are dark spots that look like the horns were pulled out of the skull or something. They look like blackened wounds or sores or something.
Cover your eyes kiddies, lest I post the pic again.

Sten's hair would be covering it up by now since his hair grew longer lol

Don't remember them ever saying that, but if that is indeed what they said then they shouldn't have called them "hornless"

I think someone phrased it best about halfway through the thread... Necrotic spider bites?
I probably still would pay for it.

They do look great, and I would love to have those for the qunari
Though it probably isn't that easy as putting a 2D render on a 3D model

That actually looks good but the huge question is, would adding such flowing hair expose technical limitations that this engine has? I mean it's one thing having hair but long hair and horns might add in another layer of complexity.
These look wonderful though.

I can't quite tell, but are they only on the skin, or actually 3D. Are there.. like... divots in the skull or something?

Right and saying, "Well we didn't even have this before, so anyway it comes, is a step forward" is not in any way a straw man. ![]()

Yeah I mean...I can see that on a NPC qunari because yeah whatever.
But forcing that on a PC bald/short haired qunari? That giant ugly black blotch?
What were they thinking.

Which is why I'd be willing to pay for them.
If they just port the human hairs though that should be free =/

Dunno, being 7 feet tall and grey could work too.
