I thank you for posting about it at all and civilly though because it compliments nicely the statements from people who would be willing to pay for it, giving them some insight at all to where our heads are at.

I rarely buy appearance packs right away, but they are usually something I'd buy later on for replayability. However, the Black Emporium was so useful, and it has been discuss already (even in the twitch video) that such a face-melter would probably have to be patched in // included as DLC, and so I think asking that this be tacked on is probably useful information? Maybe? *shrug*

Hm. I thought the Black Emporium was free. I was for me, but I only downloaded that in the last year.

I did buy all the appearance packs for the mass effect games. They were super cheap at 1.99 each. I figured why not?

Yes, lol, but if they charge an outlandish price then no one will buy it and they will not make any money. It's a delicate balance.

Yes, I'd definitely prefer not to spend exorbitant amounts, haha. I was just trying to stress how much value it would have to me. :)

I think I get what face-melter means in this context, but I thought of

...
People who sing like that usually have amazing hair.

My two statements were meant to separate from one another. Sorry that wasn't more clear. The appearance packs that I wouldn't have bought right away for DAII would have been like, the All-Class Item Pack, for example.

Admittedly, I don't hate the options. I'm not in love with them, either, but I don't hate them.

Looking at the Draenei in World of Warcraft, I think adding good-looking long-haired options could be a bit difficult. Sometimes the horns just look like they broke through and had a bit of an unnatural feel. There were some options, though, that had sweeping bangs that made the curve around the horns look a little more natural. So, I won't say I don't understand going with shorter hairstyles for the options with horns.

I would have thought that a hornless Qunari could have at least used some of the other racial hairstyles, though, if making unique styles would have been an additional cost outside of the allocated resources.

If I do make a Qunari female (Just like the Draenei, I don't like playing physically bulky characters, so I always played female only with them), I'll probably go with the hornless style with the bun.

Hilarious. xD

I only started calling "appearance changers" face-melters starting yesterday after hearing Mike Laidlaw and Cameron (Harris?) refer to it as such.

Ha! Face melter makes me think of someone wailing on a guitar.

I had to google THAT now too.  Evidently I don't remember the back of the boxart either.  Honestly I don't know if I've ever seen it beyond a passing glance.

When I think of Arishok I think of this and yes, now that people point out he has hair I can see it.  But I cannot recall if I ever noticed before or if I just don't remember.

When I think of the Arishok I always think of the AWESOME CGI Trailer...where he has really long hair. :-P

I would also for pay more/better options, although this isn't some massive deal breaker for me like it is for some of he folks in here. I still love how the qunari turned out, the hair is just a bit disappointing. I don't think it would be wrong for them to charge for it as long as it wasn't like really expensive, it's extra work and they already gave us an incredibly extensive CC.

I'm torn on the issue of paying for DLC or not. Ideally, it would be free, because the qunari hair offerings ARE pathetically sad compared to the other races.

If I have to pay for it, somewhere in the realm of $10-$20 would be my limit.

Yes but other races don't have horns.  :P

I'll just stand over here with the folks who'd definitely pay for more and varied hair for qunari as DLC.

Personally I think they should have used time that they used for animating all helmets and hats (that look awesome and qunari can't use <_< ) to horns, use tattoo-time for other races on facepaint and then use same amount of time to hair that they used for other characters. Qunari are now lacking the options and personally I think they should have taken that time away from anything possible to make more hair options and make quality hair options. Nice CC isn't worth it if the hair ruins whole look.

They would have to do that to every helmet and hat available in the game to work around all the horn variations, that probably would've taken up even more time

If they bundled a face-melter with more hairstyles, paying $10-$20 would be more acceptable.

I don't actually need anything more than 1 good hairstyle to fem!qunaris and 1 good to male!qunaris so I wouldn't want to pay more than 5 euros for them. I'm just a student after all and the game is already pricey ^^ Ideal for me would be patch that added couple more hairstyles. If they even improved some of the textures and give the hairs more volume (so that they look hair and not spraypaint) would be okayish. I think the bun at least is possible to fix.

Hopefully the bun gets fixed by launch or a early patch

It's not EA fault gaming situation is bad and they milking us of our money. We just stupid so much, now we even asking few hair options for half price of full game, which moder can make for free, and thank you for liking his work.

I don't play on PC, so the modding issue in no way affects me.

But I have to ask: Why is Frostbite 3 particularly hard to mod? Speak slowly, because I'm kind of tech-stupid.

Because as far as I understood it the devs of Frostbite 3 never released any tools for it, it's like completely under lock and key by EA only. The Unreal engine (which was used for Mass Effect) was more open for gamers, and at least had some tools released with which the content of the game could be altered, also the Unreal Engine could be easily linked with 3dMax and Maya (two very prominent 3D-modeling tools), which made modding easier.

(Correct me if I'm wrong, that's just how I understood it. Could be completely false, for all I know. )

EDIT: Also it seems to be a LOT more complex than previous engines? I don't know to be honest. The general consensus is that Frostbite 3 will be a pain in the ass to mod. I don't know whether this applies to more simple mods like textures / skins / hairstyles or if by modding people mean custom developed content like areas, gameplay tweaks, new models etc.

Sure would be nice if modding was guaranteed for DAI! Too bad it isn't.

I don't like it, but I don't like the Qunari hairstyle selections more.
