The hair may be lacking in variety (especially by human standards) but the horns are pretty amazing.
I've never been overly bothered by hair choices because fantasy games typically only have hair styles that represent straight hair, and never wavy or curly hair. I think that were hair to be examined as a serious issue, which I'm not inclined to say it is a major one, the general depiction of hair should be more of a concern than qunari women's hair.

It's not EA fault gaming situation is bad and they milking us of our money. We just stupid so much, now we even asking few hair options for half price of full game, which moder can make for free, and thank you for liking his work.

That's the problem. Frostbite is not modable.

A modder can add entire expansion packs of fully voiced gameplay and that doesn't mean we shouldn't buy DLC. Hell you can get entire games for free so why even buy games?

The point is that if they spend time creating detailed and high quality hair models I would be willing to pay for them, I mean I'd prefer them for free but I realize that it's hard to justify additional content added to a game after launch entirely for free, especially when work on that is inevitably work that would of otherwise been done on paid content. I want more hair styles in the game, especially for Qunari females, I am willing to pay for that content regardless of the ability for modders to create similar content for free. It's the same reason why I own Hearthfire despite there being a mod that does a very similar thing, as it was appropriately priced and it was content I wanted.

Though I'd say $20 is really steep unless there is some significant gameplay with it as well. Or a lot of hairs (like a lot) and the face melter.

Also on the issue of paid DLC:

Guild Wars 2 has been continously releasing additional hairstyle-packs for their game, which can be bought via der ingame-store (with gems, which in turn are paid in real money). And let me tell you, people gobble those up like they're starving, and are super excited when a new pack gets released. So... I'm just trying to say that if done right, this can be quite a viable option for making money.

Yeah while 25 bucks is my max it's not what I'm expecting for a dlc like this. 10 - 15 bucks is what I'd expect them to price it around. Probably throw in extra armor and weapon backs to go with it if it ends up on the high end of that.

I'm really surprised none of the styles have bangs at all, even between the horns. Zabrak in SWTOR had styles with bangs between their horns.

Guild Wars 2 is an MMO though, they can shell out add-ons all they want unlike regular games

That's incorrect there is nothing that isn't modable. It might not be easy, it doesn't have any modding tools and take a lot more technical knowledge to mod for than say the creation kit or even the unreal engine but you can mod it. Seriously if you couldn't mod an engine you couldn't code for it as modding is really either basic coding, coding or VERY basic coding. It's very possible that you'll need to crack Frostbite's development kit though and that's a massive undertaking in it's own right.

I'm aware of that :) I'm just saying that the idea of paid DLC for hairstyles isn't quite as silly as it might seem.

You can continue producing content for a game as long as you want, it's not exclusive to MMOs, League of Legends, DotA 2 and Team Fortress 2 all are non-MMOs with a similar practice that has substantial success.

They are all free-to-play online games though and they are functioning based on people who buy in-game stuff.

BW's games, DA & ME have had armor DLC's previously though so I don't think hairstyle DLC is too far. Also they might release DLC with couple armors and matching hairstyles, that'd fix the problem as well :)

I wasn't saying it's exclusive to MMOs, but those games are also different compared to other games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc

Dragon age will only have support for a period of time with patches and storybased DLC, while games like LoL and DoTA 2 doesn't have to worry about all that

If a couple of longer hairstyles were added, how thoroughly would they have to be tested? Because it could mean going through every cutscene featuring the Inquisitor multiple times with each armor type, filing bug reports on any clipping, animation or texture issues present in those scenes, resolving the bugs by re-designing the hairstyles and then going through every cutscene again to test for any new bugs. That cycle would then have to be repeated until the number of bugs was sufficiently low. That's not to mention that each design iteration would need concept art, feedback from the design team, with possibly multiple subsequent design changes reflecting that feedback. Then it would need to be modelled in-game with more feedback and more subsequent design changes.

Or, at the other extreme, it could just mean one person making the hairstyle by themself, seeing if it looks good in the CC while doing only minimal in-game testing (which is similar to how hairstyle mods can be made).

As I've stated in my previous couple of posts in the thread, I love the hair/horn combinations that we've been shown. But I can see that the Qunari hairstyles are objectively more limited in number, shorter and less varied stylistically in comparison to the hairstyles we've seen of the other races, so I am sympathetic to those who are unhappy with them. I just wonder if people are being realistic about how much work goes into creating each hairstyle  (and it's a genuine question - I really have no idea which of my two scenarios is closer to how these hairstyles get made).

I don't want longer hair than other races have, I think everyone wants equally good hairstyles that other races have since with qunari you can't even hide your bad haircut. If the horns are amazing and CC otherwise but one of most important aspects of CC is low quality (the problem is not that the hairstyles are short but they are flat with poor textures compared to what other races have), it just ruins whole character.

I have just big trouble to even happy about CC at the moment cause I can't get past hair. If they are going to give us only 4 hairstyles those hairstyles should be amazing, not DAO (or lower) quality.

I really feel sorry for the devs working on DA:I; they've worked soooo hard on the game and it looks absolutely outstanding! I can't be in denial about the hair though, no matter how much I support them. It's just sad that it would have been perfect (save for the lack of earrings so far lol) and it looked perfect...but the hair really keeps the CC from being perfect, in my opinion. I've watched the video quite a few times to give it more time; sometimes things get much better the more familiar we become with said things. However, it had the opposite effect  :(. The more I watched the worse the hair looked, and really, it's ONLY the qunari hair that holds it back and that is even more sad. It...almost looks like just those two hairstyles(I think the mohawk looks good honestly, and will look much better with some textures added to it) were created by a completely different team  :(

There's always hope though!  :) Maybe they still have time to add in at least two or three really good ones, or if they feel that it would be profitable, make a hair pack as dlc at some point? I don't know...and I try to not let it be such a big, but the styles and the quality of the hair just doesn't fit with the quality of everything else and it would definitely bother me(eventually) if I played as a qunari. *Sigh* Now I feel a bit bad because this makes me seem ungrateful for all of their hard work, but I'm not at all; I love everything else about the game and the Character Creator. I hope I'm not appearing to be rude or obnoxious  :(. That is truly not my intention.

Sadly the current options are locked and they aren't adding anymore before release. At this point I'm hoping that they would at least improve what they currently have based on feedback and bring more texture and volume to them. The bun-one wasn't so flat I think I could use it for my qunari. There is also hope for DLC and or patch that would add some hair options to qunaris.

Fair enough. I oversimplified when I wrote that hair length, variety and number of hairstyles were the sole concerns that people have here.

I agree, the horns are awesome. I especially like the Saarebas 'stubs' (not talking asymmetrical). But they only come in bald. And I dislike bald, and the length of horn compared to the length of bald skull, enough to know I will never use them. If I want hair and yet want to cut my horns to be scary, I'm pretty sure I don't have to be bald (or, if I feel like going shorter, have a weird mohawk).

Biggest problem right now is the lack of separate sliders, as even those who like horns, but hate the hair depicted with them, will not use em. I'm especially surprised since the point of eruption of all the horns seem to be the exact same.

Yep, confirmed locked. I just pray they've taken notice and decided to work on the ones they do have more (maybe consider separate sliders if possible....?). The meshes and textures just aren't on par with anything else in the CC, not even the horns they sit beside, which, of course, make the hornless look downright silly.

The major concern at this point is quality. Most of us here accept that the number sucks, and the lack of variety sucks, but most also argue that the quality of Qunari hair lags behind other races, and that if it didn't, we'd deal. We'd double deal if we had separate sliders as that would be more combinations overall.

When I think of the Arishok I always think of the AWESOME CGI Trailer...where he has really long hair. :-P

That is true.  Though I've long since distanced CGI vids from what we actually see in games haha.  I find them fun for building up enthusiasm but are like the last thing on my mind when analyzing what is in a game setting! :P

I'm not sure to be honest.  Sorry.  It's something I can suggest, but I have no visibility on time requirements or anything like that so I certainly cannot promise anything.

It's already enought  :) thanks for the attention.

Hair are quite important to me too. usually, I like to associate a certain personality and class to the hairstyle. I like to have mages with longish hair, usually braided and with bangs, and short pixie styles for rogues, and more severe ponytails or braids for warriors.

I just love all the Qunari horns, I think they are great. but the lack of choice for the hair is a little unsatisfating, and I have difficulty to place a determined class, beside warriors, to those severe haistyles.
