What if that's how the hornless qunari was meant to look? lol  ;)

Still ugly.

Giant craters on a bald head are just ugly.

Actually, I assume that is the message they are trying to relay to us: This is how the hornless qunari are meant to look.

It still doesn't excuse the glaring fact that it looks like absolute sh**.

I refuse to believe that. From a lore perspective, those festering, necrotic craters on the hornless qunari's head make NO sense. I swear I read somewhere that hornless Qunari are seen as special amongst the greater Qunari society because they can more easily blend in with the other races, so they are often sent as spies (like Sten).

Having ugly lesions on your head makes you look unsightly - if anything it makes them stand out even MORE because they look like lepers. People would avoid them and they would fail their missions and not live up to their role according to the Qun.

BAM. I just outlined an irrefutable argument against those heinous, hornless "hairstyles". Bioware, now you pretty much HAVE to fix it, otherwise you will contradict your own lore. :P

So, a couple of things about this:

awesomehair_zpsacdb9a62.jpg

1. I love this so much. I may even steal the design a little for one of my characters.

2. Sure wish we had this hair for our qunari.

3. It looks like the eyebrows do not match this hair color, so I am confused by Laidlaw's tweet. I guess you get eyebrow options with your hair color? I'm so confused. You should just be able to independently select the stuff you want................

I would like to try and understand where some of you folks are coming from here.

We've never been able to play as Qunari before. They were never an option period. And from what I understand, originally were not going to be in DAI either.

Now, you see they have (subjectively) lackluster hair options. How is that a deal breaker for the entire game? Would you have rather they not be playable at all?

Yeah, that hairstyle would have been kickass for my female Qunari... *wistful sigh*
And this picture seems to contradict Laidlaw's tweet, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up anymore. If anything, I'm mentally preparing myself for more disappointments that are almost certain to be in store for us (I had a bad day at work, so I can't help being in a pessimistic mood :P)

This would imply that the qunari Inquisitor cannot truly be hornless. True hornlessness would mean that the horns never erupted from the scalp in the first place, and therefore no markings should be present.

The blotches really do indicate that the hornlessness is a result of some sort of trauma, but then having a hairstyle available that covers the wounds would not make sense. Skin *that* damaged and traumatized would not have healthy follicles beneath it. Growing hair over those craters would not be possible.

And anyway, if those things do indicate that horns were once present there, then damaged or not, hair would still not be able to grow over the stumps.

In short, it makes no sense if that's how hornless qunari (Including Sten) are meant to look all along.

Oh, and if Sten is present somehow, and he doesn't have those wretched blotches while my qunari man does, I will be quite miffed.

Ok.

I have  no idea  where these rumors are starting that people are refusing to even buy the game because of the qunari hair options. As far as I have seen/heard/read in this thread - NO ONE has said that. No one. If there are people elsewhere online who are running around threatening that they will cancel their preorders, I've never met em.

At the very worst, it's a dealbreaker for choosing to play as a qunari. I'm an example of that. I don't want to play a character whose appearance is going to bug me the whole game - so I'm going to play as an elf and a human. That's pretty reasonable. I never once played a dwarf in DAO because I'm not keen on their appearances. (Actually I did play both of their origin stories just to see the content, but quit right as Duncan took me away.)

Um I don't think ANYONE here said it was a deal breaker for the entire game. I pre-paid for my deluxe edition and am still just as excited to play it on day one. My first playthrough was going to be a female Qunari mage, but when I saw the embarrassingly bad, downright ugly hairstyles for her, it made me rethink things. I don't want to spend 100 hours staring at the back of her ugly head, even if she has awesome horns (to their credit Bioware DID design some awesome horns, although I wish they included the small ones the female Qunari had in the original concept art...)

And don't be silly, of course I wouldn't rather they not be playable at all. Now I'll probably just end up playing a male Qunari at some point because I never envisioned him to be a fierce warrior princess with long white hair (like all the concept art shows)

Edit: Ninja'd! Great minds think alike ;)

Personally, I'm still going to play and make it work. But it's seen as not having equal quality/options as compared to the other races, which is not nice.

I merely said I'd cancel my digital deluxe preorder and get it somewhere cheaper.

I'm still getting the game :P I'm just not paying so much for it.

I would have expected hornless to mean either a completely plain scalp or little bumps slightly protruding from the scalp, but not the darkened skin which looks so diseased!

I am really loving the hairstyles I see for a human male. I hope a lot of them are available to an elven male and female as well.

These will be my go-to hairstyles for both genders and elf/human. Sure wish we could have had something for the qunari like this too:

Yeah and you know... with the way he has a braided bun on the back of his head, I'm thinking, "WOW I could so make a shogun warrior!"

I'll agree the hair options aren't blowing my mind, but I'm still going to play the hell out of a Qunari (After my Dwarf of course  )

And I'm aware most people in this thread have no intention of canceling.

Anyway, here is one example:

So help me if all the Qunari males have are 6 different versions of Bald/Cornrows there is going to be a serious case of pre-order cancelling around here. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to find out before release.

I'm deadly serious.  Playing as a qunari is the whole reason I WANT this game.  And what is the bloody point of playing as a qunari if I can't look the part?  Character creators should be good.  So far, this is not a good character creator from what I've seen.

God, I SWEAR the game isn't even out yet and already I can feel myself clamoring for hair DLC.  ****ing damnit all to hell!

And then Ryzaki says he/she is going down to the normal edition because of it. What does the digital deluxe have to do with Qunari hair?

I think that no matter what happens they should restrict the color of the hair to grey and white.

I feel silly asking... can anyone link me to the various CC images so I can decide my human female hairstyle?
