Yeah, that's Vitaar, but it doesn't work the way you're thinking:

You presumably find/craft Vitaar during gameplay, much like you'd find/craft helmets for your other companions. Vitaar takes up the helmet slot for the Qunari. As far as I'm aware, you can only "choose" markings if you have that specific Vitaar in your inventory... I could be wrong though

Oooh, I see. I was thinking it was going to be like the vallaslin.

First: The horn options are cool.

Seems like you cannot recreate any qunari presented in media materials or previous games and that includes their horns. Arishok has double-horns and they seemed to be huge. Correct me if I am wrong but no double horns has been shown so far. Also some female qunari in artwork have smaller, shorter horns like http://img1.wikia.no.../Qunari_DA2.png  - no such option is available in CC.

...People saying who cares about hair.

There's a multi billion dollar industry around hair I mean...wat.

Especially around black women.

Asking who cares about a particular topic in a thread full of people caring about that particular topic is a very special kind of stupid.

Okay so I've seen a few people in this thread saying they don't really understand how hair (or lack of it) can cause so much vitriol, and disappointment. I thought I'd try my hand at explaining it a little via my various PCs... and see if I can make it any clearer behind the spoiler. I don't know if anyone will see what I see when I look at my chars... but maybe just the stark difference in outward appearance in comparison will have some effect.

Spoiler

Hair makes a huge difference in who a person presents to be. Hair affects how we see people, and how we see ourselves. The Qunari hairstyles we have been given restricts the kind of people I feel I can believably make... and the amount of freedom I often feel I actually have in RPGs. It's a problem. A sad, and limiting problem.

First off - amazing. This speaks volumes so, so much. Removing hair en masse is nothing short of what they do to people in labor camps and penal colonies.

Though I must admit that Eris looks hot as hell with that hawk. But she also looks like a totally different type of character.

It is interesting to see horns close to the head on this.  So far I noticed the horns flairing more out from the head from the demos.  Not that is a bad thing.  It would be cool to have that option.  I love the qunari woman in that concept art, mostly the body build.  The mage qunari they show in the demo looks alright but she seems to lack that "Qunari" upper body strength.

My girlfriend Quesha would tell me to shut up/she hates her hair, but I so love black ladies' natural locks. (Especially when it's super tall/wild/gorgeous!) But that's coming from a Caucasian with boring hair. Lol

To be honest, I think mohawks look awesome on some women.  What I didn't like about the fem hawke CC in DA2 was that the females tended to have a more "rounded" face.  I could never create a face that was more angular and square.  Rounded faces don't look good with mohawks.  They tend to look better with hair framing the face (which is what your examples show)

Sadly from afar she looks bald with that hairstyle. It looks like she just has black stripes on the head, it's too flat for hair.

Oh I completely agree. Mohawks are frickin' brilliant. Some of my favorite hairstyles on the planet are hawks. I just (as you've noted) have too round a face IRL to be able to have one myself.

Also The fact you can't make Hawke... not look like Hawke (if that makes sense) was always one of the biggest downfalls of the DA2 CC. Adding hairs really helped me find a way to make them my own though.

Ok, so this pisses me off:

I stumbled upon this photo of Blackwall from DA:I's official website.

LOOK AT HIS HELMET!

It looks like it has a horse tail sticking out from the back of it...

How does *that* not present clipping issues with any armors???

If you can create a helmet like that in the game, you should easily be able to give female qunari's a high ponytail that looks exactly like that. I mean, how freaking cool would that look with white hair and a little more texture?!? Gah :'(

It'd be nice if devs could open a dialogue with us over all of this. Or even if they could relay dialogue to Allan who could then come in and work something out. I dunno.

I know the lack of options means their hands were tied somehow. But can't we still discuss a possible solution?

BioWare is good about listening to their fans. Honestly, I'll be even more impressed with their business practices if they work something out with us. And I'm not demanding they do extra work for free. People deserve to be paid for their efforts if they are indeed efforts that go above and beyond...

Hawks don't work for everyone, but I too am a fan of them. But I've never been a fan of small Mohawks, aka racing stripes. I'd sooner take a funky/androgynous faux hawk vs those teeny tiny things. I think part of the reason I don't like the small Mohawks is because they remind me too much of the white supremacist "crews" that used to run amok in my city. A lot of them had these lazy, small hawks which were just a shave away from a bootstomping buzz cut that so many of the others had.

I love Mohawks with volume, girth, fringe, braids, etc.

Hair Pack DLC wouldnt really work. More so so close to after launch, at least not Paid DLC. Now, Hair update in a free patch would work.

In fact. EA is doing something much like that for Sims 4, adding things in for free via free patches.

And Skyrim did it as well

I have two qunari Inquisitors planned down and hair is important part of their personalities:

1) Practical and calm warrior woman, I wanted her to have hair swept back to tight ponytail or braid. Although she's practical I can't see her having short hair or mohawk, I find them to be fit to playful and outgoing types.

2) Optimistic treehugger mage male, for him I wanted messy, wavy and longish hair, partially braided or in bun. So quite lot of hair, not necessary long but in the bun or braid. I still don't know my options for male qunari but I doubt I'll have anything close.

I think most of the devs are crushing or are really tired right now.

The game is going to ship .

Me , i think they put tons of effort into this game , yeah the Qunari hairstyle are limited and a bit disappointing ...

It might be something they will look into for future games since it's probably going to be on Frostbite too .

I'm not sure about DLC since as far as I can remember DLC never added anything to the Character Creator.

I have to admit it, she still looks flawless  . The terrible hair doesn't ruin that but I am still worried it might in cut scenes.

I am pretty sure I will be hide-helmeting the Vitaar though. I think it's cool that they did that but I would rather they had done something else in the place of helmets, like horn adornments would have been fun.  :P

I guess the closest we came was the Black Emporium, which didn't add anything to the CC, but instead made it readily available at any point during gameplay.

In Mass Effect, however, you could download alternate appearances for your companions. For example, I was able to get Jack out of that atrocious "shirt" and actually put her in a real shirt. Plus she had sunglasses!

I'm sorry, but I can't stand looking at her head or those horns. In general, she looks cool, don't get me wrong. But that is not my fem qunari.

Edit: And seriously this is how our fem qunaris will look, given that the options are so limited and incredibly similar to one another. There will be some horn variations here and there, and the faces might be a bit different, but these ladies will all look somewhat uniformed.

You never know !

Since they're big on customization this time , we might have some DLC with new stuff like Skyhold decor , CC stuff etc...

Anyway if this is such a big deal for people , they are probably going to look at fans reviewing the game , just say in your review "Boooo Qunari Hair" . ;)

If enough people mention it , they will probably talk about it.

Although I think they are aware people are disappointed with hair in general , since there's often questions about longer hairstyle.

Better Qunari hair might be easier than long flowy hair.

I just meant it doesn't ruin the aesthetic, I am just trying to see the bright side in all this.  :P  She doesn't look much like the one from the E3 trailer so there will still be verity, better and more varied hair options would have improved upon that but lets not get carried away.

What's No 1 - a nude patch?

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I don't know.

The last time I modded was on Oblivion and there all the mods appeared to be hair, nude patches and, oh, some weapons, armour and houses.
