I love dwarves. Not a big fan of elves, male elves especially.
Hearing the praise about male elves being so beautiful and the epitome of male handsomeness plus being so thin, makes big, stocky me feel uncomfortable. I know I shouldn't feel that way, but it does bother me.
I think that's why having such good variety of races and customization in games like these is so important. It's easier to empathize with a PC when you can make them recognizably sympathetic for ourselves.

I'm not too fond of playing dalish but I think I want to try 1 elf out at least ^^ In ideal situation I'd play only qunaris but unluckily the hair is issue and also fem!qunaris have been race-gated away from all romances I wanted them to have ^^; So I have to do some humans too sigh.

Exactly, when/if I play elves, it's to play the story! Not to enjoy their look and hear old bullies comment on how odd and ugly my pigeon chest is. It's also why I was upset as Zevran being the only 'gay' choice... well that and his... attitude.
I have 2 PCs planned out so far.
Acantha Aadar: Sophisticated, a little thorny (Hence the name Acantha)/brusque but still polite. Very quiet, but strong when diplomacy doesn't have the needed affect.
Eavan/Edytha/Eadlynn (Can you tell I'm having trouble picking a name?) Trevelyan: Perky, flirty, and cute. She'd stab you in the back while kissing you if it would net her a pretty trinket or a bag of gold.

I've been planning on playing a female dwarf ever since multiple races were announced. I don't mind the elves as much, but I agree that they are overrated. ![]()

Eavan Trevelyan and Edytha Trevelyan have a better ring to em than Eadlynn (which would sound great with Cadash in my opinion). I personally prefer Eavan.
So my Adaar will still be my third playthrough and will be a mostly fire based mage as well as a KE. I had been planning to make a female but that recent male pic tempted me a bit. I guess I will decide when I make her or him. ![]()
I will get around to playing the other gender at some point though no matter which I pick first.
My first two Quizzys will be a male elf mage and a female human warrior.

I do like Eavan as well, because it means Fair. Which I took to mean as beautiful, as in "Fair of Face".
But I also like Edytha because it has good symmetry to Acantha and it means Spoils of War.
Hmmm.

After that photo, I'm considering making a male to seduce Cassi, if she isn't race gated.

I find Eavan to have that "cuteness" to it, that's why I suggested it

It does have a lightness to it, whereas Edytha is more serious.

Although I love the improvement Bioware have made with the female (and male) elves and shall have to play one on my second time around, I think my first playthrough will have to be a female human mage having a go at climbing that black wall. I just love the thought of a saucy yet rather delicate-of-physique mageling cozying up to that big hard slab of man-meat in the style of trashy romance novel cover-art (there shall be much ripping of bodices and ravaging of heaving bosoms).
All class, that's me. ![]()

It's a real shame when some folks go too far. It de-legitimizes the efforts of those who remain civil and open to discourse.

Lol, I was considering that too! Except my little rogue-ling will be cuddling up instead of your mageling ![]()
My Inqunsitor Halim Adaar is a big, quiet softie who will still kick you from one end of the continent to another if you mess with his group. With a buzzcut. Although...I'm a bit worried after seeing some of the caps that he will not appear truly hornless, but like he filed his horns right down to the scalp.
Doing the canon run (and retaining any flavourful 'mistakes', ha ha) will be Paloma Lavellan, still making doe eyes at Cassandra*, and Vyera Cadash, in which Hak will finally fulfil her dream of having a full-fledged dwarf/Qunari romance ~in-game.
*Yes. Yes, I know. /sob
The cynist in me is wondering if EA chose Frostbite in part because it is difficult to mod - and perhaps so they can sell what mods would have offered instead?
Dragon's Dogma (console only, so very limited modding potential) sold hairstyle packs and other appearance customization options, as well as weapon and armor packs, but they were very cheap (I think around $2-$3 each) so despite normally only dropping the cash on story DLC, I purchased all of them.
If EA were to reasonably price appearance packs, I'd happily purchase them to have more customization options. Of course, modders making content for free would be even better, but that remains to be seen.
EA built the Frostbite engine themselves, so that's why they are using it. I really don't think that they did this to spite fans, especially since both EA and BioWare have been very supportive of mods in the past. In this case, they probably figure so long as it isn't giving an unfair MP advantage, players are more than welcome to try to mod. If you're thinking about a toolkit, you're going to have to talk to EA about that one. BioWare has no control over that.

It looks like male qunari have much bigger horns, which take up a much bigger part of their scalp. In that situation, the hairstyle becomes less prominent. The female qunari's horns take up a relatively small part of the scalp, so the hair is much more important. Could this situation be an oversight based on design choices being made primarily for male avatars, then translated to female avatars after the fact?
