It looks like male qunari have much bigger horns, which take up a much bigger part of their scalp. In that situation, the hairstyle becomes less prominent. The female qunari's horns take up a relatively small part of the scalp, so the hair is much more important. Could this situation be an oversight based on design choices being made primarily for male avatars, then translated to female avatars after the fact?

Anything is possible. Maybe so?

I noticed the same, male qunaris have less space for the hair since the horns are bigger, at least the one's that have been shown so far. That probaply makes lack of hair more tolerable at least to me with male qunaris since there isn't so big bald or flat space between the horns. With fem!qunaris it look worse.

I'm not sure what they designed first but I think as whole it was mistake from their part to overlook hair and think that more horn options would make people happy since qunaris heads are combination of both. It doesn't make sense lore- and concept art-wise that qunari quizzys like hair either, I didn't except them completely follow art but I excepted them to go close to it in limitations that they have (like qunaris still having shoulder-lenght and wavy hairs.

Have we seen the 'full range' of Hair-Horn options for males yet?
MalQun Mage is going to be my first play through (because of Cass), and I really don't want to have to be hairless.

No. We have just seen bald and mohawk from hairstyles. Most likely male qunaris will have corncrow style and then something that replaces the bun.

I don't think we have seen lot of hornstyles either but in general it seems like male qunari have bigger horns that cover up head more as well.

Yes, the full range is in the first post. there are only 4 hair styles with different horn variations, that's it.

EDIT: sorry, misread - didn't see 'male' there.

As the rest of the CC has shown that the other races have the same hair style picks for both genders, it's probably sensible to assume that what the F!Qunari have is exactly what the M!Qunari will.

Those are the hair styles? Whelp I knew that visioning my qunari ahead of time would only lead to pain but I thought the ponytail dreds or dreds would be a safe bet at the very least. Time to rethink a whole new look now since I stupidly got way to attached to one version of it and it would just feel wrong to adjust a lot on this character (yes I consider the hair style to be a big part of their look)

Hmmm, I neither like the tiny hawk nor what ever corncrows are, they look silly. [Yes Sten you look silly, my warden just didn't say anything because you where bigger than him, and knew where he slept]
So here's hoping that the 'bun-replacement' is an acceptable blob of scruffy hair.

I really hope male qunaris have ram horns too since it seems like their are quite different looking from female horns from what we have seen so far.

Sweet little anecdote about my mother, she just came in the room cos she could hear me typing and I told her about this thread. Showed her the gif on pg.1 of all the hairs and she instantly goes 'that's rubbish'. The woman doesn't even play games!

I then showed her the concepts by Eli and she's pointing at ones and going 'I pictured that, and that... ooh and the braid'.

FYI, I love my mam.

This art by maiqtells (x) is pretty much exactly how I wanted my qunari lady to look. The hair would work with shorter ponytail/braid/bun as well.

That is exactly how I would wish for Olla, (second play through) to look. Well others than the face paint, the general idea.

Yes it's confirmed that these 4 are all fem!qunaris have and they are locked so they game will be released with these options. Hopefully there is patch or DLC to give us more options post-release. Maybe PC players will have mods as well (though frostbite is hard to mod).

From male qunaris we have seen 2, bald and mohawk so sames that fem!qunaris. Most likely there will be 2 other options, corncrow and something to replace the bun (maybe same hairstyle but without bun?).

It saddens me that people make such a rush about different hairstyles. I mean I'll know that my MC is going to wear a helmet when he's fighting, I don't have time to admire his hair.

Qunari can't wear helmets, they have facepaint instead (no tattoos though)

I do hear you, however...

This is the compliant.  I don't think the folks behind the hashtag movement would care quite as much about the poor textures and lack of qunari hair styles (especially for the females) if they could just craft a spiffy helm to cover it up.  They can't, so that's why they are pretty frustrated about this.

qunari can't wear helmets... ninja'd

And what Natashina said... you can't hide your bad hair day if you're a qunari!

And it does look a little like the male qunari hairstyles were done first and then given to females without it being noticed that the smaller horns and broader heads of the female qunari are less flattered by the same hairstyles as the male heads. If the textures had been better and the hairstyles given more volume and height and width where applicable I think they might have been better. It would also be nice if each hairstyle was available with each hair option so hopefully they add it to the list of things they could do with the black emporium style mirror they're talking about looking into.

If I could use this hat:

Dragon-Age-mage.jpg

whole game the hair wouldn't be such issue (though I'd still be sad about lack of it), but now I have to watch lack of hair on my qunaris head 60+ hours.

I just reminds me of the talks we have about feeling like an afterthought in the Lady Inquisitor thread.  :(

Good to see we've had a semi-positive response (from some quarters) and managed to remain mostly clear of idiot posters and bickering.  Good work folks.

Yeah that was what I was thinking too.  :(  Really hope that's not the case elsewhere.

The fact that hair on male qunari look better than female qunari due to smaller horns makes me sad. :(

Well, the lack of hair isn't as big of a deal for male Qunaris in general, regardless of the size of their horns.

I want to play a male Qunari and don't think the hairstyles look good. As a solution, I'll simply make my Inquisitor bald, which will still look pretty good. In fact, I actually care more about the selection of horns than I do about hairstyles for my male Qunari. If I wanted to create a female Qunari, the option of going bald wouldn't be appealing at all and I'd care more about hairstyles than about horns.

Hey @Panda do you think it would be a nice idea to put a request at the end of the Op for old posters and newcomers alike to keep the thread as active as possible up until release? So it doesn't get buried as heavily by other forum posts.

We could post pics of other possible hair concepts.

Just trying to think of ways to keep this place active until we can start pushing for resolutions after November.

Well if it stays on the front page of feedback page I think it'll be noticed. We have to just be careful to not get this topic locked cause of off-topic or fighting ^^

I can add that to OP too if you think it makes difference :)
