More just that it's Saturday and I'm at work testing builds as we prepare for submission. I am reading this thread because they gave me some food and I'm taking a small break.
Atleast you still get to play the game early ![]()

To be fair we did get a brief response and in bug squashing mode that's not expecting that much more.
If this was a bit after release I could see going "can we get more information please?" but right now they're trying to get the game ready to ship in a timely manner so I can forgive the silence.
You're clearly more forgiving and magnanimous than I am
It really doesn't take that long to type up an brief explanation though, and seeing as this is a rather contentious issue, I didn't think it was too much to ask for.
Maybe I'm being naive, but I'm trying to imagine if *I* was the artist/__________ (insert game development title) that worked on the Qunari hair and I heard that a bunch of loyal fans were pissed about how it turned out, I would totally sacrifice FIVE MINUTES of my lunch break to explain myself/try to justify my work. Especially after people like Daivid Gaider talk about how much "pride" the artists have in their work and how that pride prevents them from allowing longer hairstyles that pose clipping issues.
Hmm....I'm not sure about THAT but I think the reason the artist or artists in question never respond is because of red tape more than anything. I think only the lead people have the prerogative to directly speak with the fans. Either that or they're afraid they'll lose their jobs if they say something out of line. You got to understand, the lower-level employees at any one game company are treated entirely different from the leads.
I'd be scared ****less to speak directly to the consumer after a backlash because it could cost me my job. Especially if I was a low-level employee. Then again, I have no idea why I'm devil's advocating this. On one hand, I do feel like kind of a ****** for making such a fuss over hair selection when the rest of the game looks phenomenal. But for some reason, when Laildlaw confirmed those were the only options....it was so freaking disheartening. I can't even put into words why it feels like such a big disappointment for me. Maybe I was just so excited to play as a Qunari that my expectations were grandiose.

Nah I just remember what it's like to be pressed for time to meet a deadline.
It doesn't but I'd rather they focused on the bugs foremost then after the game's gold talk to us. That's only a few weeks from now anyway. We can wait it's not like they'll be able to put in new hairstyles before release anyway =/
True but it's probably going to end up being longer than a five minute conversation
we got our brief acknowledgement and that's enough to tide me over til release.
Two pictures of what humans have as hair options (females):
I love this hairstyle. I hope is there for female elf and dwarf, since I found them so much more interesting to play than humans ![]()

Ah ok, well thank you for enlightening me
That actually makes a lot of sense... Like I said, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to video game development (I work in the fur industry, so it's a completely different environment)
Still, I don't understand why a person like Mike couldn't have taken a couple extra seconds to give us more of an explanation when he responded to this issue on Twitter. Twitter allows for 140 characters and when asked if there would be more female Qunari hair options, all he said was "No". Here's a hint, Mike: we wouldn't be asking for more Qunari hair options if you guys had thought to give us more than three to begin with. And it's not just that you only gave us three... It's that they're ALL short, ugly, and look poorly made.
He could have been a little less....short in his responses. Then again, I have no room to speak because I was equally tactless in one of my tweets. But I do find it curious they decided to delay the game to fix bugs and not the gigantic glaring flaw that is the qunari hair selections.

I would rather they work on bugs than add new hair options, but for all we know they could've been working on other things along with fixing bugs

I don't think our expectations are unreasonable. Most people here would be happy with, say, a straight conversion of three or four of the medium to long hairstyles from the other races (with sections removed for the horns unless hornless).
I think the problem must be that for whatever reason they were forced to merge horns and hair, probably due to issues with the UI design of the character creator, and for each new hair option they would now have to add it multiple times with the different horns.
I would rather they work on bugs than add new hair options, but for all we know they could've been working on other things along with fixing bugs
I can deal with bugs. I played New Vegas for 300 hours. Unless they were seriously game breaking bugs, I don't see the necessity. Then again, that's just me.
I'm hoping that (after release, obviously) they can take the time to tweak the hairstyles (or at least a handful of them) the other races get to fit with the Qunari horns. And hornless Qunari should have access to all of them.
Extended Hair Cut Edition.

Well that's the thing. At this stage, their goal isn't really to make the game exactly as the fans would be comfortable with (Ignoring the fact that trying that is a test in doing something with a few hundred different opinions screeching on what to do) it's what the publisher and the developer are comfortable with.
If the Publisher sees an area with a lot of bugs, even if they're just minor graphical ones. It's getting tossed back to the bug crunching team right then and there.
This might not be true for a lot of games but I can't imagine that AAA devs would willing send out a multi million dollar game with a bunch of graphical bugs on the off chance that most fans would be okay with it.
And that's exactly what they are doing at the moment. Grabbed this off of the twitter thread.
Saturday morning 10am, no place I'd rather be than at work, squashing bugs! #DAI
They are doing last minute bug fixes, which is easier to do right now than make a whole bunch of hair options. This final stretch towards the game going gold could include re-examining the textures for the qunari hair. I'd much rather have them make the game as polished as possible now and add a patch for the textures and a possible DLC for CC options afterward, and I know that most of the people in the thread feel that way. ![]()

Well, you say that, but if the bugs interfered with their game being approved for certification, or being able to complete a lot of quests, you'd probably change your tune.

Well hence I said "unless they were gamebreaking"

Missed that, sorry.
I do agree it would be nice to see more hairs, especially long ones for the quinari. The texture quality of the hair options *really* needs fixed.
I can also see that it wouldn't be adding one hair at a time. It would be adding 8 (four for female and four for males), at the least, for each hair, because they would not want that hair to clip with any of the horn styles or they would have to make someone chose a certain type of horn for the long hair (which would also upset some folks).
it also looks like the sizes of the horns may be different for male and female that could also cause areas that clip differently.
At the moment i'm not happy, but it is also not a deal breaker on my playing a quinari. Now, if it comes out to find that the guys get a long hair version because they used the model from DA2, then there will be much, much ranting on my part.
I don't see this topic as very important and have trouble understanding the vehement tone of many posts. I love creating characters, I'm glad I can make a quanari, I'd love love great hair options, but I'd rather have the game ASAP and it play smoothly. I also think it is weird complaining before we have the game in our hands.

Most of us would just like a patch or dlc to come out later on with retextures or new hairstyles, not to have the game's release date pushed back again.
Also, we're not complaining, only sharing our opinions and offering suggestions. This is the Feedback/Suggestion forum, after all.

I'm sorry, but you don't see the unequal treatment in the aesthetics of one race to the other three as important? The fact of the matter is, qunari hairstyles do not have anywhere near the quality texture of the other race's hairstyles.

There's a certain level of expectation which comes with a AAA game like this, especially when there is currently a lot of marketing emphasis on the CC. It is being shown and cited as an example of the kind of choice DA:I will offer players. On top of that, lots of people were looking forward to playing qunari, since it's the first time they've been an option. I think Bioware knows that they're highly anticipated fan favourites judging by their remarks in various videos and interviews which have been released.
As far as I've seen, most people in this thread are being as realistic as we can about this. We know that it's too late to do anything about it before release, and there are other far more important things Bioware need to be doing right now. Personally I just wanted Bioware to realise that people care about this issue, and hopefully to get the point across in a reasonable manner so they didn't just dismiss it as entitled whining. It's obvious that this is an issue that can all-too-easily be made to seem petty as hell. Especially to a currently overworked and crunching dev team who are just trying to get the game out of the door in a polished state.
I just hope they try to see this from our point of view, that's all. I really think this is an oversight or an effect of tunnel vision in a hectic, large and protracted project. I suspect they were so focused on the horns and getting past Frostbite's obvious issues with hair that they didn't step back and realise how few hairstyles they were actually providing. Since they merged the horns and hair into one slider, I can see how it'd easy to glance at the number of options and think "hey, we've made a lot of these". But the vast majority of those choices are the horn styles, and at least on female qunari, those horns aren't enough to replace the importance of hair to a person's overall appearance.

No-one is calling BW to pull the breaks on the game. However, we have received confirmation from the Devs that those hairstyles we have seen comprise the extent of our options. Many are dissatisfied with those options and are voicing their dissatisfaction in a feedbackand and suggestion forum intended for that exact purpose. The sooner they know players have an issue, the sooner we can move towards a resolution.
Certainly there have been some posts that have been somewhat south of civil, and while unfortunate, it must be remembered that those are fringe cases, and the vast majority here desire a polite dialogue. We did not create this thread because we hate BioWare and want to viciously lambast them; we are here because we love the games and the IPs they create enough to feel invested. We want them to succeed, and we want the game to be the best it can be.
You are perfectly free to feel that this issue is not important. However, that does not mean that others should be denied the opportunity to speak up on the topic. We are, all of us, happy that BW has included Qunari as playable race. But their mere availability does not mean that we must be perfectly content with whatever options are provided regardless of breadth or quality. We all want to see Qunari given the same love as other races, and we want to be able to create characters that feel like our own. A big chunk of that is through appearance.
