Dammit. Bioware just went live with more CC, plus gameplay.

http://www.twitch.tv/bioware

I'm watching it now, but I think I missed the CC. I checked my email 20 minutes too late. Was hoping to see more of the CC, especially since I'm choosing a different race now.

Missed it! If you find a vid archive, please post a link!

If you didn't watch the stream live, Mike Laidlaw referenced us (indirectly) ;)

He said they are definitely looking to improve hairstyle options for future titles, but that leaves it unclear as to whether or not we have hope for more styles in Inquisition.

Just putting this out there, but I would gladly pay between 2 and 5 dollars for a hairstyle pack DLC (that comes with an in-keep barber or something so you can change during game). I know it might seem trivial to some people, but especially if there's long spans of in-game time passing, I'd like to be able to mix up styles. In DAII I used the mirror from the Black Emporium to change Hawke's hairstyle from chapter to chapter.

We don't even have that much :crying:

So Female Dwarves can have beards, but Female Qunari can't have hair longer than glued to head.  -_-

I imagine bearded dwarven lasses will be an incredibly popular option, and only role-played with the utmost respect. Any and all resources spent thereupon were vastly better utilized than those that would have been wasted on giving qunari hair. After all, we'd only make a qunari with decent hair for the 5 second kick it would give us.

Except the beards for dwarven females - from what I saw of the latest vid - are only various styles of stubble, rather then actual long, flowing beards. IMHO, the stubble looks stupid on females (at least, constituting as the only bearded options), whereas actual beards for them would have been rather glorious.

I get the impression that Bioware may have cut a number of "seemingly insignificant" corners to get this game released when it is, rather then pushing it forward again. Understandable, perhaps, but I really hope that they rectify those shortfalls with some decent CC-related DLCs - which I too would be willing to pay a fair amount for.

That is not why I would make a Qunari with longer hair, so drop the 'we'.

Unless you are being sarcastic, in which case I apologize.

DID YOU GUYS SEE HOW MANY ******* EYEBROWS THERE ARE IN THE CC....?!?!

How many different versions of ugly, unruly, bushy eyebrows do we need?? There were easily 20 of them!

And the fact that Bioware created an entirely separate slider for *beards* for female dwarves... That proves that they could have easily broken the horns slider into two categories (horns and hair).

Also, I noticed how eleven hair moves around their HUGE ears when you're changing the ear size/shape... How does that not pose clipping issues??? The elves get beautiful hair and their ears are almost as long as Qunari horns!

If anything, I'm even more upset now.

And it sounds like we won't be getting a patch OR a DLC... The devs indicated they "MIGHT" include more hair options in an expansion, which is at least a year away.

:(

Maybe the eyebrows are different for the females (since that was shown on the male elf, if I recall correctly)? We may be getting more groomed styles, since I don't think I have ever seen any female in my entire life that has eyebrows like some of those, even before they've seen a pair of tweezers (or twine).

Okay, I hope to the Maker that they are because I don't know what female player in her right mind would make a female character with most of the eyebrows right there.

I think that the dwarven female beard slider was really just the same as the beard slider for males, minus any of the *actual* beards (only stubble).

Something I noticed on the twitch stream is that they're investigating a way to change your appearance sometime else in the game, like the Black Emporium for DA2.  It won't be available at launch, but they're looking into doing it.  If they introduce more hairstyles that way, that could be a solution :)

The bolded part is what gets me the most, though giving women the option to have beards and bushy brows (but not a long haired horned amazon) is ridiculous too. :D

I listened to the livestream again... Mike and Mark talk about a Inquisition DLC akin to the Mirror of Transformation pretty definitively, but when they mention Qunari hairstyles, it sounds like improvements to those won't happen until a future game. :(

Trying to stay positive about hair... by looking at the other options revealed in today's livestream and picking my favorites for my human and elf Inquisitors :P

I seriously do not comprehend the obsession with bearded female dwarves. Like... 100% do. not. get.

I don't think I've ever seen any MEN with eyebrows that unkempt... I could see them looking good on a hairy dwarf, but did we really need so many variations of bushy and ugly? Seeing the variety in eyebrows/beards really made me sad when I thought of the pathetic female Qunari options...

I don't understand why they're just now "looking into it". Why would you eliminate a VERY popular feature from your last game? And then when fans beg for it to be put back in, you wait until a month before launch, act all surprised, and say "oh, we're definitely looking into it!"
Bioware had an extra years worth of development to "look into it". Unless it's part of a money making scheme for paid DLC... In which case, I don't even care: I'll happily give you my money just please release it ASAP! :)

Me neither. I wasn't even aware that was a THING!

Bearded Dwarven Women was a throwback to the Tolkien esque fantasy settings of Lord of the Rings, where many PnP RPGer's would cite their first experience of ever even hearing of the trope, DnD for a time also adopted that though in recent years their art doesn't reflect it so much, instead they tended to talk down the beauty of Dwarven women in general possibly because of beards. lol

It's a Tolkien thing.  All of his dwarven women were bearded in his stories.  They just decided to leave that out of the movies.

Soooo Bioware is perfectly fine copying an obscure physical trait from Tolkein that not many people will even use (female dwarves are the least played race from Origins, IIRC), BUT they can't even be faithful to their own concept art of female Qunari? Makes perfect sense :P

Not sure what's with the side glare... Obviously I didn't expect Bioware to actually give us long, flowing hair for the female Qunari... But you'd think if they put things like lip shine, broken nose, Adam's apple, beards for female dwarves and 20 different eyebrow styles they could have given female Qunari a couple of options that the fans would actually like.

I mean, so far the devs have just said "sorry guys, this is what you're stuck with" but none of them have defended the Qunari hair options or even explained their baffling choices that limit customization for Qunari (not being able to mix and match hairs/horns)... I'd really like to see ONE dev say "I'm actually REALLY proud of the female Qunari hair and think it looks great!"

...but they can't. Because it doesn't. :)
