I've already given up all hope of playing my beloved female Qunari mage :'(

I resignedly switched my first playthrough to a male Qunari mage, but the fact that we haven't seen ANY hair for male Qunari is kind of worrisome...

They will have exactly the same styles the females have, if the other races CC is anything to go by.

Also, same. My first playthrough was going to be femme Qunari mage. Now I'll probably be a Dalish... something. Feck I dunno, I figured I'd have a whole games worth of time to figure out playthrough no. 2

Please do not 'bombard'. The last thing we want is someone giving an ultimatum and pissing off the devs. That's not what we're about. It only serves to weaken our position by making those who want better options appear to be whining. They already know the issue exists, and there's not much we can do about it until after release. That's when we'd get a surge in support anyway. Let's keep it respectful.

Yep. Just wait for release and when the "wait...that's it?" responses roll in. (and they will roll in).

I shall be waiting with snacks.

Huh. I guess I should have expected that, but when you take into account the male Qunari can have beards, that means the female of Qunari really are the absolute least customizable in terms of appearance options... :( Sure, they gave us a lot of cool horns, but hairstyles are really what sets your character apart.

We shouldn't just sit back and wait... The day the games comes out we should organize a Twitter campaign and make sure as many people as possible tweet the devs with the hashtag #HairForTheQun. Bombarding them now is futile cause the game is about to ship, but once it's released, we need to make sure they hear us loud and clear. I don't think this thread has done much of anything to convince them to give us more hairstyles (although it's a great place to vent!)

I noticed that too and was not amused. They have no justification for giving female qunari the short end of the stick, clipping be damned. Their hairstyles aren't even that complicated or complex, texture-wise!

Movement as in adding in more hairstyles or do you mean hair physics? I was looking forward to the latter when I first saw the game had cloth physics but then came just another (well minor) disappointment. -_-

Hair physics. They're pretty much static, meaning any argument regarding clipping due to such is much less convincing. They showed two female characters with shoulder length hair, and neither one had any actual shift or flurry - and the clothes they had them wear certainly cause no issue with clipping. The shading was hit and miss too, but it didn't look bad - just a little inconsistent.

I'm personally not that assed about hair-physics, I play Fallout, Skyrim... WoW, Sims... none of those games have much, if any, hair movement. I'm not interested in, y'know that Tomb Raider hype about her hair a while back? Sure it was cool to know it could be done, but I thought it looked messy and unpredictable as hell. I'd rather have attractive static meshes to unruly moving ones.

Not defending the position, but I think the clipping argument is that for longer hair with a static mesh it will clip. No idea if this has merit though

I can cede the argument for hairs that go beyond shoulder length, most certainly, but Bioware (and many other companies) have always produced shoulder length/shorter hairs to avoid the issue... they just didn't even do that for Qunari for some reason >.<

they can always make the exactly same hair as ALL the qunari in da2, that will ease the situation very much

Yeah, I can understand how clipping would be an issue for longer styles... But I'm honestly surprised Bioware hasn't researched various ways long hair can be worn up, like in braids or something like that.

There are SO many beautiful hairstyles Bioware could have re-created that don't go below the shoulders but still give the illusion of length.

I know there aren't that many women that work at Bioware, but don't they consult their wives/girlfriends/random women on the street about what kinds of hairstyles look good?? Or have they heard of the Internet? A quick google search can turn up millions of hairstyles that would look AMAZING.

Sure, there are about three or four hairstyles for elves/humans that I like, but that's it. And I kind of hate every single female Qunari "hairstyle" - the "mud bun" would be ok without that awful middle part and if the bun itself had a bit more volume and detail. The Mohawk should be bigger, in my opinion. And don't even get me started on the "tootsie rolls"

*sigh*

Lmao that it's now known as the mud bun.

I really hope that it isn't the only option to cover the sores on "hornless" male Qunari heads. That mud bun would look ghastly on a male. I'd die laughing to see a pic of it, or for myself on release.

Supposedly the male Qunari share the same options as the female Qunari, so, yeah... Looks like we're stuck with the mud bun.

I was just watching the Redcliffe scene with the female Qunari Inquisitor and her white bun honestly looked like a pale butt sticking up between her horns... I've never seen a woman wear her hair in a bun with a PART in the middle... It just looks dumb.

It's okay, it's just that devs will most likely respond better to polite and reasonable request rather than people filling up their tweet feed with angry comments :)

My biggest question is why mostly bald and hair not separated by horns? some horns are incredibly great, but I hate the hair attached (when there are hair)

Why not a buzzcut? why not a hairstyle not parted in the middle? A buzzcut should not give clipping problems...and the others races all have many different kind of buzzcut. And the same style but not parted in the middle instead that parted is not so different...

Sigh. I only hope fervently for a Hair DLC.

I wonder if the hair options are designed together with horns instead of them being seperate file/whatever they use ^^; That would explain why all hairstyles aren't available to all horn styles.

I'm pretty sure this is the case - hair styles and horn styles not separate. There's only the single slider for both together. Which leads me to ask, again, why? So much detailed customization, so many ways to make your character look exactly the way you want, but we can't decide which horn style we want with which hair? It seems like such a glaring limitation.

Maybe they had problem and couldn't seperate hair and horns from each other? Idk, I can just guess  Hair and horn slider seperated was what I was thinking they would do before CC trailer.

The three hairstyles are all SO short and so similar that they could easily be interchanged with any horn style. That is an irrefutable fact.

The horns all originate from the same two points on the head, meaning that it would be quite easy to recycle the same three styles with all of the horn options. Why Bioware didn't do that is anyone's guess...

Maybe if someone from Bioware would be so kind as to explain to us why that decision wasn't made... *HINT HINT* :P
