I watched the new gameplay demo on twitch today and it occured to me (especially during the quest "Deep Trouble" located in the Deep Roads)... is it possible for our Inquisitor to fall off a cliff ? I remember that we can actually jump on command and since it's much more open world than the past two titles, is it possible to accidentally fall off the edge of a bridge etc?

I believe they said that if you fall off, you'll be placed back where you were. But, yes, it does appear that you can fall off.
Interesting, I'm glad that it's not as 'claustrophobic', like how it used to be an invisible wall keeping you in the designated walking zone (like The Witcher 2 for example and DA:O and DA:2)!

It would be great that if you do fall of a cliff you companions comment on it.

Companion 1: He... what? Fell?
Companion 2: Want to blow up a chantry? Maybe we'll get another one.

In DAII, for example, when you were down during a combat, you loose a part of your max health until you take a potion or go back to your house. I think that having such feature if you fall from too high and if the machine brings you back where you were that you would loose something like a part of your maximum health.

Not sure about companions but you can kill enemies by throwing/knocking/shield bashing them off cliffs... ![]()
Might lose out on the loot though.

This is seriously going to mess with my obsessive need to collect everything and put it in my stash. "Get away from there! I need to kill you HERE, where it's nice and safe."

I know... I'm probably going to want to knock someone over the edge once to see it and then I'll be like you... killing enemies where I can't loose the loot ![]()
I'm an obsessive collector too

All I know is I'm going to love starting a conversation with someone, stop conversation midway and abruptly jump off a cliff.

I think when they said "NPC", they meant someone who isn't part of your party.

I can just hear Varric saying..."Whoa, look at him bounce!"

Quisitor and anyone else can fall off.
Companion would be dead if falls off, curious to this death state in Inquisition for companions.

I hope that somewhere in the game there isnt an option to teleport back up and you die due to the fall. And you get an achievement or something XD

Wait...WE CAN JUMP IN THIS GAME?!
*Arm flail of happiness* I swear the only Bioware game I can think of that allowed jumping was SWTOR.

I wonder how it handles companions falling off ledges, will they just appear from a corner? Will they teleport behind the player camera?

It was said they will die if they fall off, unlike the Inquisitor who resets back at the entrance.

As above, I think they meant enemes. Technically your companions are playable characters.

They said they can fall off, then mentioned can push enemies off. The part where they was standing at the edge talking about inquisitor falling off, companion was stated can fall off and die. Then moved to the side of the stairs to say enemies can be pushed off. I watched it while it was being said and remember that, cause I tried asking a question about their recovery right as they said it.
EDIT: I wont doubt I could be wrong, as I did stay awake when I should of been sleeping. Quite sure I heard it, otherwise......if the inquisitor can fall off, why cant companions too?
