The one thing that makes me curious about the lack of healing spells is if they're going to give an explanation of some kind in game. We had them in previous DA games so... what happened? The breach disrupts it somehow? Or our three mage companions never studied healing? It could be the case with Vivienne and Dorian. Being ambitious and from a cutthroat society respectively would lead to focusing on attack power. But Solas? Or it's just 'welp, it's gone now'?
No healing spells whatsoever

Sorry if its been mentioned already, didn't Mike Laidlaw mention in the demo there is a spirit spell that acts as a ranged revive? That sounds pretty neato
I don’t understand how you can have revive in the game and not a heal in the game, it should be the opposite. IT should be you stay dead until the fight is over but you can heal team members.

I honestly don't mind the whole no heals feature in the game. Im sure it wont be too hard to gear up or loot health potions from defeated enemies.

I like this change, whatever makes the game more challenging is welcome in my book.

While I agree that the removal of healing spells will make the game more challenging, I still think the sudden absence of said spells is a bit weird. We had healing spells in Origins and DA2, so what's the reason those are suddenly gone (lore-wise)?

I'm wondering that too. It's weird.

What could be interesting I think would be to have a basic healing spell, but useable only back at the camp. I mean healing spells are often described in the books, and most of the times they're not used during battle, but right after or back at camp. So it could be a solution to still have a healing spell but used in a more realistic way.

You mean like the lore explanation we got for mage teleportation?

Maybe..they are going after MMO style ? It's something I noticed . in GW1 for exemple , you could have a cleric healer class (called a Monk ) and even have a hencheman that do just that . Come GW2 and there is no healing class at all . You can't build one that do just that either , and no hencheman to save your ass .
Although , some MMO still keep it . Swtor have those and alot of them . But some others don't .
Maybe they are going for realism ?

That's not the word I would use, considering the setting. I think it's designed to make the player feel that they are in danger, they are outnumbered and they will need all the help they can get.
Soloing this game would be extremely difficult, I think. But one heck of a challenge.

There's no teleportation in Inquisition, Mike also talked about this on Twitter. It's just moving really fast. Doesn't look like teleportation in the demos, more like a "speedy" move.

Realism as in you shouldn't find a chest full of potions and med kits scattered around in a ruin where none seem to have lived in centuries . That kind of realism . Maybe there is another word for it..I wouldn't know .
Suffice to say...my hoarding days as a herbalist are over with ![]()

I wonder if it's even possible, but no doubt that people will try.
With a looot of backtracking, maybe... but even then...

Perfectly reasonable for defeated enemies (who aren't undead, beasts or demons) to drop them I would have thought.

I'm pretty sure that you will unlock new base camps by exploring areas, a la Tomb Raider, Dark Souls etc. Back tracking may not be as prevalant as we fear.

So basically the world is ending, and every mage in the world choses not to use healing spells in this period. Healing spells excist in the world. Two games have showed us that. Now every mage just ignores that possebility. Lovely.

haha good point ! I was mostly thinking about 'Monsters' like skeleton and Abomination . One thing doesn't seem to have changed is the loot....when you end up after a hard fight getting merely a few bucks
why is everyone soo broke in Thedas ?

Simple solution, though. If the game has some explanation about healing magic not working, its all fine. Maybe due to the tears in the Fade etc. That would actually be a good explanation. I very much doubt anything like that is in the game, though.

As everyone decided not to pay attention, you can heal with our new "Focus".
Lorewise, healing is extremely exhausting and no, it doesn't matter that you could heal your sweet, sweet buttcheeks off in previous games.

well..I would like to say maybe those green power kinda kill any healing ability you may had . But that wouldn't explain why your companions don't have any . Unless it is bad luck and the one you have just arent specialist in it .
Or maybe healing power come from the fade and since it is tearing and **** coming out...you can't use it due it being instable or something .

Yes it does matter that you could heal in the previous games. Healing spells is part of the lore.
Can everyone heal with Focus, or just the mages?

It does not. Lore> DA:I > You.
Refer to Anders when you first meet him in his healing hut.

The healing power doesn't come from the fade at all. It works the same as other spells, according to the codex. But I am sure it could be explained by the opened fade interfeering with the "healing waves" in the spells or something.
