Game development is a zero-sum operation.
Devs preferred putting more time into developing other aspects of the game. Considering they have delayed the game twice, I assure you that "tressFX" hair quality was low on the list.
It seems passable to me. I only hope the beard is closer to the face than in Da2.

Respect where it is given. Apart from the facial hair this looks amazing. I usually find a disconnect in quality between companion and user facial models but this time they are on the same level.
Too bad the team didn't outdo themselves when it came to making good hair.
Not sure why they waste time on niche options like broken horns (nobody asked for them), don't they have any focus testing. They can cut half of the CC sliders and as long as they have lots of hair options nobody would miss them.

I like the broken horns, actually. But they only suit a certain type of character, and it's not the kind of character I intended to make...

We've seen the explosion at the peace treaty in one of the demo's. I don't believe they went to all the trouble of creating that awesome scene and then don't use it in the game.
I'm still curious as to why the hair and horns are locked together. Clipping could be prevented by having a limited number of har options for quanari.

The 'stache and van dykes and stubble are pretty cool.

Iron Bull, Salit & Sten (in the comics) have beards, so theoretically qunari can have beards - however we have not seen enough of the male qunari CC to know if the qunari Inquisitor can.
EDIT: qunari inquisitor does have a beard slider

There was an option for beards on the qunari male CC promotional image, so I believe they can.
The one qunari in the Talis DLC for DA2 had a beard.
Apart from the revelation from this thread that people are calling the Inquisitor "quizzie" (seriously, inquisitioning is serious business people, don't make it sound cute) I am very pleased. That character creator looks quite impressive and is probably one the best in a single player RPG next to Dragon's Dogma if you ask me.
It was made worse when they decided to combine stubble & beard into one slider.Facial hairs was never DA's strong point in CC (if it ever had one
