Everything that Bioware's doing for Dragon Age: Inquisition...

Another thing, this is an opinion. I feel very strongly about it, but it's still only an opinion, nonetheless. I honestly just really needed to vent and didn't know exactly where to put it.
Now...
Everything that Bioware's doing for Dragon Age: Inquisition, they don't have to share with us. We bicker and cry and whine and scream about things not going our way; e.g.) the Kossith hair options, an unavailable LI, a restricted use of weaponry. There's obviously a difference between complaining, being someone who is constructively criticising, and someone who is reacting in an extremely insulting way.
I don't think we (the fan base) have any right to verbally abuse and insult devs.
Being upset is one thing:
"This option isn't available to me, and that bums me out but I'll be fine."
But this is definitely something else:
"I'm disappointed that I'm not getting to do something specific that I want."
The second one isn't even completely bad, but it's ridiculous when someone tells the devs that they're "disappointed" with what they've done or haven't done.
This is their world that they're allowing us to see it. They don't have to give us anything.
I'm so grateful that they're letting us run through it as a character.
But I can't stand how people treat them sometimes. It disgusts me.
This isn't just from the recent thing that occurred, it's accumulated over time.
I know it's not the majority saying things like this, but as I said I needed to vent.
If this ended up somehow offending someone, I'm sorry, that was not my intention.

Amen. I can't thank BioWare enough already for what they're giving us in their games, nor for how open they're being about it, communicating with the fans as much as they do. And then to even push through all that negativity every day. I like to think positive comments like yours make it all possible, and worth it.

As customers we certainly have a right to complain and to express our opinions. They have a right to choose what opinions (if any) to listen to. As long as people aren't being abusive or disrespectful towards the devs I really don't see much of a problem.
You are always going to get people being a bit over the top on the forums, that is just because they are fans and so they are passionate about the game.

I am incredibly grateful for how much they have listened to fans but lets not forget that they did that because they have gotten incredibly large amounts of negative feedback in the past. If they had not gotten that negativity this game may not have been what it is today.

I understand the right to do it, and I approve of criticism and feedback but there's always someone who is very rude, disrespectful, or/and abusive. As customers we certainly have a right to complain and to express our opinions. It just makes me sad that people behave that way.
EDIT: Also, do you think I should reword that sentence to avoid future confusion? (I realized how it sounded after rereading it again.)

Well if they are being abusive or very disrespectful I agree and I would generally either ignore or argue with people like that. Sometimes people just get a bit upset because they are disappointed though and usually they get over it.

A thread complaining about people complaining.
Okay.
Also, I see many more excited than disappointed comments. *shrug*

For every complaint an individual on this forum expresses, odds are that they're happy with practically everything else.

I reworked it a little; I didn't mean complaints that could be used/seen as constructive criticism.
Just the ones who actually insult devs.

I do get what you mean and it's specifically horrible when people are nasty to the devs on twitter. I just think we have had a lot worse in the past, there have only been a few "pre-order cancelled" comments over this.

I agree people can be over-dramatic and cry doom and gloom before games even falls into their hands. That being said, we are more than within our rights to critique the game and while it may be BioWare's "world," it is being created for our enjoyment. As many developers, including BioWare, have said time and time again, they wouldn't have a job without their fans. They ultimately are the ones with the skills and the tools to create amazing entertainment, but it is up to us to judge its merits and determine whether it's truly worth our time or not through our financial investment.
Much like in any business, public opinion matters. You want your consumer-base to be happy and you want a product that appeals to them. Many of the additions and creative changes BioWare has made over the years has largely been due to player feedback. More action-oriented combat. A return to the tactical camera. Large and more open-ended environments. Gorgeous visuals and an in-depth character creator. Better romances and more compelling dialogue. Our feedback largely drives game direction, and the games that are generally the most successful are the ones that listen to their fans.
Now obviously a developer can only listen within reason and all issues cannot be addressed or resolved. But by in large many of the major issues that a large majority bring to light will be rectified, and the more feedback and constructive criticism BioWare has, the better in my opinion.

I know, I didn't just mean what recently was shown though. It's more of a grouping of everything all together.
So basically I have been hiding in another thread where it was safe during every "freak out" lol but it occasionally leaked into there too.

I never said anything about people not critiquing or giving feedback.*snip*
The closest word I used was "complain" originally and I even fixed that.
:/
Sorry, it's really difficult for some reason to type up and make sense completely. I hope that made sense, because I do agree with you.
I was literally just talking about the crude people who weren't giving actual constructive criticism.

Fair enough. No need to apologize. Ultimately it is only a small, extreme vocal minority that I would even claim is guilty of committing the heinous acts you are mentioning. Most people are just passionate about BioWare or the Dragon Age franchise and they want to see it become better. Nobody will ever be completely satisfied, and really that's an unrealistic standard to set anyways. Without criticism though, how can anything get better? Same things goes for competition, and I'm glad BioWare is aware of its competitors and is trying to remain relevant and stay ahead of the game.
The best way to counteract any troll or hater is to just not respond to them. They have no ammunition if you don't recognize their presence. That being said, generally it's easy to determine from the quality and content of a post what the intentions of the poster are. I think it's fair to say anyone on this board just wants the game to succeed and be as great as it can be. One of the great things about games more recently is they continue to have a development cycle even after launch and that will give BioWare time to consider feedback and improve DAI even after November 18th.

And usually I don't ever being it up, I think it's just been building up. lol
I'm not a social media (or whatever it is called) person so I'm normally not seeing these things but I've been following DA non-stop
I haven't even replied to any trolls (that I can think of). And any... I don't know, maybe "angry" comments I've said are actually all at the top of this page. lol I'm not usually an upset kind of person, just needed to vent.

I will be playing the game regardless of what was shown today and and many people will be still complaining here on the forum about the game and never even play it at all.
I know what I will be doing at 11:00 P.M. on the 17th when I finally get to actually play it after I have pre-loaded it several days before.
