Yeah here is a bit of a storyboard i threw together.
Magister Numarian is in council with the war advisory and the Archon is in attendance.
The council discusses the advance of the Thedosian forces into the Imperium and the fall of Marnus Pell and Qarinus with severe damage being done to their military in the process with much of their naval might being shattered which paves the way for the naval assault against the capital.
The Archon declares a vast conscription be ordered to rebuild Tevinter's sagging military.
But even with these efforts the Imperium soon realizes this invasion is unlike anything that the nation of Tevinter has witnessed within its history.
Tevinter Military Forces: 37,000
Various conscripted and mercenary forces: 20,000
Circle Magi: 1,500
Total forces of the Imperium: 58,500
Forces under the exalted march
Olresian Force committal: 200,000
including a half dozen divisions of heavy and light cavalry and a legion of chevaliers
Nevarran force committal: 100,000
Free Marches Force committal: 45,000
Feraldan Force committal: 20,000
Rivian Force committal: 50,000
Antivan Force committal: 75,000 (Made up of assorted mercenary armies, and private merchant armies)
Anderfel Force committal: 2,000
Chantry Military Committal: 15,000 (Assorted Magi, Templars and Seekers)
Total Force under the Exalted March: 507,000

Uhm.. lolwut? 200.000 troops from Orlais AND 100.000 from Nevarra, yet you only estimate Tevinter forces at 58,500 TOTAL? Sorry but that is waaaay off. Sure, theoretically a small force of approximately 60,000 troops could hold off an army numbering half a million in a battle... But actually fight a war to a standstill? No. They would be overrun in a matter of days.
Tevinter would have an army at least the size of Orlais', maybe even bigger.

Seems like the southern nations are OP but it makes sense if we take a logistic look at them
That's sort of the point.
I wanted a "realistic" invasion.
Not to mention as will be covered in the story erm...some folks in the south have a long memory.
Featured prominently will be Gaspard De Chevins II, First Enchanter Melcorm, Magister Numarian, Archon Gilitus, Lord Seeker Lambert Van Reeves (I will explain why he is still around during the story) King Yumak of Rivan and Grand Admiral Alberto Armino.

They would be overrun in a matter of days.
That's pretty much what happens.
They initially hold off the coastal invasion but the ships just keep coming, more forces keep landing and the battle lines simply break.
Tevinter would have an army at least the size of Orlais', maybe even bigger.
Not after the second Qunari War, the Imperium was reduced to just about half it's current size.
.-. Its why i bothered to mention they took that opportunity to invade.
In the Aftermath of the war Nevarra actually managed to successfully invade the Imperium to an extent.

But it is a completely unrealistic weakness level of Tevinter. They would have fallen apart as a nation, long before the first boats even landed.

*Shrugs* You can claim its unrealistic, I am working off my own storyboard.
But it is based off the premise that the southern border region with Nevarra was lost, but Tevinter had enough muscle left to force Nevarra's expansion to stop and over the next two decades it regained its balance and by the time the story actually begins its actually in a period of economic recovery, its actually stronger then it has been by this point since before the second qunari war despite its loss of territory.
It was able to centralize and nationalize a bunch of its collective industries and become slightly more modernized during the period, it was to be an era of prosperity, in the wake of a terrible war but it then becomes a struggle for the Imperium's very survival.

They also give the Imperium access to a few key advantages in terms of having the deep roads under tevinter reopened.
Other things will be thought over as I mull over the actual plot more.

*slap*, *another slap*
He wonders, do they slap you in afterlife? Again he feels the annoying *slap*
*Slowly and with great effort he lifts his eye lids. Over him hovers black bearded square face with strong nose and piercing dark eyes. "Vartag?" he whispers. Someone speaks from the side. "I´m sorry master dwarf but this is the best I can do. Our master was badly injured and I used all my strength in the combat". He turns slowly his eyes to the healer mage, Gnaeus. Boy is crouched in his right side. Gnaeus has a sad look in his eyes. "I´m sorry master, you have suffered severe injuries, you have broken bones and internal bleeding. I have closed all the large open wounds you had but I don´t have strength for more".
*He turns his eyes to Vartag, "how..?" he whispers. Dwarf pokes his stubby finger in Ukki´s chest. "You still owe me money Magister, and I intend to collect" Vartag says with a raspy deep voice. Ukki laughs brokenly and blood bubles in his lips. Gnaeus snaps from the side, "do not strain my master".
Ignoring that Vartag continues, "when you collapsed that roof the statue standing behind us fell forward and provided a small shelter form the falling rock to all of us. Dwarf points to another three soldiers and one slave standing near by. They are all bruised, bloody and dusty. "On the back of the statue there was a crack in the wall through which we went. You literally flew into our hands through smoke and dust, either thrown by a falling stone or one of those ogres" Vartag says pointing at Ukki.
*He nods slowly and then coughs blood again. Gnaeus says tiredly, "we can´t move him in this stage, master will die if we move him". Ukki fixes his eyes on the slave, with a huge effort he gestures the slave to come closer. The young boy crouches next to him with wide eyes, "how can I help you master? I pulled you through the small crack in the wall" he says proudly.
*He eyes the boy, "you did well" he whispers, "come closer". The boy leans forward.
*He grabs the boy by the arm and mutters, "you have served me well, now serve me for the last time". Boy leans even closer, "what is it you are trying to say master, I can´t hear you?".
*his voice comes stronger and grip tighter. The boy realizes that his master is not talking but casting a spell. His eyes spread even wider when he feels the effect of the spell. His mouth opens wide for a painful groan but nothing comes out. Boys eyes turn around, his skin starts to become wrinkled and it tightens over his bones.
*While all this happens he feels life rushing into him and warm feel inside tells his wounds are closing and bones healing. The boy falls silently on his side and lies emotionless. He takes a deep breath, there is no blood nor caugh. He looks at the boy and then pulls himself up. Vartag spits on the floor with a disgusted look.
*He disregards that and eyes the remains of his group, "anyone has any idea where we are, where are my maps?". Soldiers look him fearfully but Gnaeus steps forward with a shoulder bag. "Here are the papers and items from your strongbox. It was smashed by a large rock and all the items came out.".
*He grabs it and then eyes around, "Where is my staff?". One of the soldiers rushes forward and gives him it. He grabs it silently and says, "onward now Vartag. There is only one way to go now". Dwarf nods and they start to follow the small tunnel forward.

when is this set? orlsian forces appear far too high compared to the rest at any date but more so if it's set in the dragon age.
the Nevarra are supposed to have the largest military force in thedas not orlais.
and the SEVEN circles of tevinter appear very under represented?

*Group continues down to find a cave in* looks like this is where they made their last stand...* monkey destroys the rubble feel the tremors from the earth* the path is clear i sense he's close. To go up sometime we must go down..
The group finds more corpses and a familair face*
It was tavis... a slave who looked as if he'd been drained of life... things must've been dire if this happened monkey closed his eyes and gave a quick prayer so that he may rest in peace.
We've dallied enough we must go* group goes down a small tunnel*

Its z story on the fall of tevinter. He's showing how "real" tevinter is weak after x event and to prop the south that they are better. Disagree but i like fanfiction so i dont look to deeply hehestill doesn't explain how orlias got more troops.

That's less then ten percent of their population.
The average military contains roughly three to eight percent give or take.
More before modernization.
Honestly I'm working with what the devs give me
Gaider said Orlais has a population of near and around four million
They could presumably field two times that if need be.

I think you're jumping the gun to be honest. For all we know Orlais might spiral back into barbarism or anarchy after Inquisition. *crosses fingers*

I just ****** hate Orlais. I'd rather Thedas be in a three way tangle of superiority between Tevinter, Nevarra, and the Marches while Ferelden catches it's breath and actually develops. And Orlais rebuilds from the remnants of their toppled Empire.

I love when people complain about Tevinter being decadent and enslaving people. Then praise Orlais. Orlais does the same thing, just tries to cast it in a different light.

It's fanfic man he can run with it. You could just as easily write one where the Orlais never recovers from the civil war and navarra invades North Orlais seizing everything as far south as Val Chevin, While the dalish backed by ferelden seize the dales.
