She is actually. I had her trained both in armed and unarmed combat, I had a expensive sword master here just to train her. She has proven her worth already, one night she was keeping me company a crow assassin tried to kill me in my bedroom chamber. I didn´t even have to lift a finger. At the end of the fight she threw the assassin right out my tower window. *chuckles*

 

She can also recite some poetry, even dirty ones too. And play harp. Beautiful tones.

 

So yes, I would love to see her beat up some templar dogs.

An Orlesian noble dared complain to me for having slaves, this when I visited a merchant guild in Antiva. So I asked him "Is that mabari yours"? Yes he said. I then further asked him: "So that dog is your property?". Yes he said again. 

The Orlesian admits to having a living being as property. 

The question is then, why is my property any different? On what right did this impudent fool attempt to judge me?

I swear by Dumat... the way these foreigners think makes no logical sense!

as a sputhern born its like this: a dog is sentient but not sapient while a human,elf, or qunari is.

Mabari are fine animals, good and loyal. I have two that are dear to me. They are perhaps the only nice thing to come out of the backwater of Ferelden.

She reaches out and touches his hand holding the staff. "I sense your sorrow master and I hope I am not the cause of it". 

*He looks at her silver eyes and sees another, crystal blue eyes staring at him.* "No dear, it has nothing to do with you. Stay with me tonight. Tell the servants not to bother me any more tonight." He touches softly her chin and sees another face. "Anything my master desires" she says with a relief and hurries to inform the servants.

The Mabari didn't come from Ferelden, the breed originally came from Tevinter until they defected to the Allamari barbarians in Ferelden. Fenris brings this up in Hawke's mansion.

Also, just for the sake of clarity, Ferelden doesn't have a great deal more mabari, or even just a great deal more Dogs, than most other nations. Ferelden association with dogs is a result of their significance in the culture (I.e. the respect directed towards them).

Lots of Orlesian nobles own Mabari, such as the one looking for his two prize winning hounds in Mark of the assassin. They would not, however, depict them in their regalia or treat them like people, as Fereldens are known to do.

Orlesians also make for great sacrifices to Dumat. I do thoroughly enjoy hearing them plead for their lives in those atrociously silly accents of theirs. *mocks an orlesian accent* Maykair, pleaze seve me. *laughs hysterically* Dumat certainly has a sense of humor, he gives us Orlesians.
