@raging_monkey I appreciate the offer, however I am no apprentice. I am what the chantry considers a Maleficar. I consider the thought of a institution for all mages to learn an study magic but like all government controlled sites, its manipulative and only meant to restrict or limit ones capabilities. I only seek the Tevinter Imperium for refuge and earn my place within it.

A maleficarum? An enemy of the chantry? Welcome brother, the Temple of Dumat extends our warmest greeting.

Someone with tastes?

Fair enough. I like rocking armor as a mage too. But Warder tries to **** on Magi every chance he gets without thinking it through. Mages usually don't wear armor because they don't need it.

Now if Tevinter is going to battle that's a different story. Combat on that scale can be exhausting which would probably lead to barrier failure. In that case armor is an insurance policy.

I officially despise Iron Bull. He will be killed or betrayed or something if at all possible.

You can choose to Not recruit him...possibly Killing him.

I do too. Hopefully there will be a lot of new codexes in the game about it.

It's normal that they're curbstombed by Bull. In term of Strenght he's likely the strongest character in the Inquisition, Since he's bigger and bulkier then the average qunari.
Facing mages might be different.

The one being lifted is a mage. You can tell by the armor.

I imagine it's hard to cast anything with your throat being crushed.

Glorious servants of Tevinter! Getting their asses kicked... :/

I was under the impression that the Venatori were traitors to Tevinter. I don't think that the Magisterium wants to see the world end.

I can't be the only one who thinks that the masks look ridiculous?

They remind me of rabbit masks.

Honestly i cant see me recruiting bull on my canon run i can't think of a logical reason why a competent inquisitor (who isn't sympathetic to the qun) would accept the bulls demand that he sends info back to the cows.

i know metagaming it wont really matter but in character i have people that mistrust me already. i'm trying to unite the inquisition and prove my power and i'm allowing a foreign spy in my ranks? plus trying to close the breach, dealing with a civil war, mage vs templar war and worrying about insane templars and a tevinter cult. explain to me why i would want an enemy of thedas to have information on my organisation?

I like bull but other then to experience his arc and banter i can't justify his alliance with an enemy that's already tried to take over the world once and wants nothing other then the subjection of all people and cultures?

The situation is Indeed a bit weird, though I'll wait to see what he'll exactly say and propose to the Inquisitor.

Not to mention didn't the Qunari invade Ostwick in the past as well as an exalted march against the Qun? I plan on playing a pro-chantry human archer quizzy, at least at first. Considering that, I suppose I might miss out on Bull during my first run. Which is fine as I planned on Cassandra being my main tank and warrior, but I suppose we shall see what happens IG.

Honest question have we actually had confirmation that Mages get addicted to lyrium?/quote]

Honest questions.

You read WOT? The passage describing it's effects?

Mages use Lyrium too, take it into themselves.

There honestly is no reason they shouldn't be addicted.

Anyone prefer just casting, melee with protective magic, or casting with protective magic? Essentially, what kind of mage play style do you prefer?

I was having a discussion with someone who suggested that mages actually using the lyrium to cast magic sort of works it out of their system in a way Templars don't.

I wonder if we could compare Templars methods to drinking a protein shake without exercising well afterwards. It's...Hmm, less healthy?

apart from different physical effects of lyrium on mages. as far as i know nobody but mages risk near instant death by going near raw lyrium and as far as i know nobody but mages gain mana from processed lyrium. it clearly has different effects on them. that combined with the fact that only templars are referenced to be addicted to lyrium make me question it.

the paragraph but lyrium addiction simply states that its a addictive and the more one use it the more they want it and in greater doses.

and yet with all the media around templars being addicted zero evidence about magi addiction.

Wall of text  :)

*Zera walk into her fathers study*

*he stands by his desk reading a tome.*

"You called for me dad, is something wrong?" she asks.

"No nothing is wrong dear, I just wanted to talk to you before I leave* he says, "there are things I need to tell you. Sit down, have some tea" he gestures toward the small table and chairs around it.

"No thank you, please just tell me. You said to monkey that it is urgent. I need to know what it is. Does it have anything to do with your trip to Deep Roads, did something happen there?" Zera ask.

*Allright then" he says, looking at the tome in his hand. "it does, kind of. But not like you think".

"I have never told you this, nor to anyone. But the thing is, as a young man I found a love of my life. She.."

"I know dad, I know all. I know you loved an elven slave girl" she says with a warm smile, "mom told me long time ago".

"What?? How did she know, and why didn´t you tell me?" he asks completely suprised.

"Granpa told her father and he told mom, and mom told me. I think granpa thought you might resent mom and he wanted to explain your behavior to her family. I know you and mom didn´t love each other and never have. You two haven´t even lived under the same roof for all my life." Zera says.

"It was a marriage of convenience, nothing more" he says bitterly. "We both being from old and respectable families had something do with it. My father and her father made a deal of three children. That is why after your youngest sister was born we moved apart."

*She looks at him with disbelief*

"No. Absolutely not." he says strictly, "I have loved you all dearly from the day you were born, never question that. I would not hesitate to sacrifice myself for each of you. Just don´t say it to anyone. I have too many enemies" he adds with a faint smile. "so, back to topic. What I wanted to say is that I nearly died in Deep Roads. It made me ponder my life once again." he says.

"I know dad, I saw the results" she says with a sorrowful voice.

"You mean the boy?" he asks, "it was a necessity. I did not do it out of wickedness. Would you have me died instead of him?"

"No! Of course not, I just wish.. I don´t know..." she says with sad look.

"The boy had a good life, better than most of the poor people huddled up in the streets below. He learned to read and write, had even a profession given to him too. He was well fed. The only unpleasant thing was his ending though he could have as easily died there in the hands of darkspawn." he says.

"or maybe not" she says with fire in her voice.

*He waves with his hand. "I know how you feel, and I did not bring you here to debate on the issue, you have admirable ideas about equality. But the hard fact is, world is a bad place for many people."

"You could make a difference dad" she says, "you have power and prestige. People would listen to you and..."

"Enough!" he says, "I am what I am. You should know better by now.", *he moves closer to his desk to avoid more debate. "Getting back to original issue. Since you know my history this becomes easier. As you know I studied necromancy, I did that in hopes of finding a way to revive my true love. Unfortunately the old archives here in Minrathous proved fruitless. Atleast for now. I do not want to reanimate her, to bring back as grotesque puppet. No. I want to resurrect her, in the form she was in the day she died."

"Dad, its been years. You need to let it go. Even if you could do that she would be younger than me, and you..." she says with her voice quieting down.

"I know, believe me I know. If it would be possible at least I could save her, which I was not able to do so many years ago. She relied on me, and I failed her.." he says with grief. "At least that would be a closure for me. Even a bitter one. So this is what I´ll do. I will travel to Nevarra disguised as a scholar/information seller. Despite the Imperium having the biggest knowledge on any magic Nevarra has made some advancement in the field of necromancy, And I want to find out what. While my apprentices search our archives I will go to Nevarra. I will only take Nazlik with me, she will play the role of my wife." he points to the qunari slave woman standing behind Zera.

*Zera turns around surprised and Nazlik bows to her smile on her face, then backs out of the room.

"I don´t like this dad" Zera says, "it is dangerous. Not to mention to take a slave woman with you. She could react differently out there. Do you even know she loves you?"

"Of course she does" he says calmly, "I have used blood magic on her. She will be forever faithful to me"

"I don´t mean that" Zera says, " I know you are a master of blood magic. However, she really loves you. I can tell, womanly instinct. The way she looks at you, touches you, acts when you are near. She looks really angry when ever you have dealings with other of your... "companions". It can change her behavior".

"Don´t worry. Everything will be fine" he says and waves his hand. "In the mean time I have made some legal arrangements. Should I die of any reason you will be my heir. You will heir both this tower and my seat in the Senate. Your sisters will both have mansions outside the city and lands will be divided among the three of you."

"No dad, don´t say that" Zera says with concern.

"Just a precaution, nothing more" he says. "I will leave tomorrow. I told you this because you are the only one knowing this in my house. I have one more trusted man but his identity stays hidden. In my absence you have my vote in the Senate" he takes her by the shoulders, "you have to leave now". He kisses her in the forehead. "I will see you when I get back".

*Zera turns and walks out in silence*
