May not mean much, but Dagna has either read or theorizes that Magi already have traces of lyrium in their blood (Magi Warden required for you to hear this line of dialogue). So maybe a natural tolerance to diluted lyrium keeps mages from getting addicted.

Hardly canon, but it's something.

All living beings have connection to the Fade; all are connected to it.

So Dagna can theorize all she wants, but having mana within the body doesn't seem the same as taking in the material of the Fade.

Especially. Considering it's psychological and physical addiction we are talking about.

anyways back to clothing. Considering that Tevinter is more warmer and closer to tropical Qunari lands. I wonder if any Tevinter mages might dress in an indian style Sari. I wouldn't mind seeing more non-european clothing designs, but maybe it is just me.

As for lyrium, I wonder how much fun it would be if people had to worry about getting addicted with serious negative effects.

Finally, this little interview seems to indicate that da4 can very well be in Tevinter, though I much prefer Rivian.

While BioWare has already stated that Inquisition is by no means concluding the Dragon Age series, the game "puts a few nails in quite a few coffins" and "introduces some new twists." For Laidlaw, the introduction of a multiplayer mode into the game is something he would like to continue exploring.

"I'm not sure if it's a perfect story situation, but it might be. I think it's something that's worth at least an investigation, especially based on reactions to the mode itself. I would say we've covered most of the South, I think we've covered the Chantry enough. But I do want to look more toward the North, I want to see what happens to nations like Tevinter, Rivaine, and do more with the Qunari. We're going to go with the same process we did with Inquisition, which was where we have a core story idea that starts to form and drive where we're heading next... the darkspawn, they're still nowhere resolved, there's still multiple arch-demons underground waiting to be woken up by them, there's still demons on the far side of the Veil. Nobody really knows what happened to the Elves. The Tevinter Imperium is still locked in a war with the Qunari. There's so much we could do."

Reading the codex makes it sound like mages don't actually ingest lyrium. If they did, they probably would be addicted.

They do. Both mages and non-mages are susceptible to addiction, though for some reason the side effects suffered from prolonged use are different.

Regular Lyrium can physically mutate mages over time, apparently.

Mages can just draw the mana from lyrium, whereas the codex specifically says that Templars ingest it. I'm sure some mages do, like the magisters of old, but most definitely don't.

Lyrium vapors. According to Dagna's epilogue. Like Vick's vapor rub, but with superpowers.

They aren't drinking it, I mean. Lyrium vapors sounds a lot like, "The magic rose from the blood," to me.

Well, both codices (DA:O and 2) state that they do have to consume it in its processed form to benefit from it. The reason addiction is mostly unheard of in Circle mages is probably because there's simply no reason to be "juicing" on the regular, unlike Templars. Its use for the mages is mostly reserved for enchanting and rituals for entering the Fade.

They believe in the Maker and they have Circles. It's far from mage paradise.

Where? It says mages can use it to bolster their mana reserves. It doesn't say that they do. It's also not like you can just stop taking lyrium one day.

DA:O codex:

"When mixed into liquid and ingested, lyrium allows mages to enter the Fade when fully aware, unlike all others who reach it only when dreaming. Such potions can also be used to aid in the casting of especially taxing spells, for a short time granting a mage far greater power than he normally wields."

DA2 codex:

"Though mages, of course, consume it in a diluted form to bolster their abilities, this is not recommended."

HOWEVER, unlike the rest of Thedas, the imperium perceives magic as an irrefutable sign of the Maker's favor...And the circle is way more in charge of itself than circles anywhere else.

Basically, power IS the true religion of the Imperium.

So, basically what just I said. It even says it's not recommended. Most mages don't do it.

Right, but they can't draw mana from it unless they drink it.
