Any similarities or ties Tevinter Imperium have parallel to real life?

Rome during the Byzantine Era. Tough there style of dress seems atm more generic gothic and emo. I am hoping that with the fact that they are in a warmer enviornment and closer to the tropics of thedas, that we can see some more unique outfits. If it was me, I would add in some Indian sari style robes for mages. 

 

If the next game is about the Qunari invasion, I want the option of siding with the Qunari or even joining them. Because I know I will want to play at least one character that does that.

 

Of course if we go to Tevinter, you have to tackle slavery IMO. How bioware tackles this I am not sure, but it must be dealt with. One could just remove it, but that also feels like just white-washing the horror of it away, they could also try to tackle full on the horror of slavery.  Not to mention, this could easily blow up in Bioware's face if they mishandle this. 

 

Still, I do think there is more to Tevinter then just the slavery aspect, however it is an aspect that must be addressed. I even have an idea or two for a few characters that support tevinter but find slavery abhorent. Since you guys rp a bit, I might even try to do so, would give me something to do while passing the time as I wait for DA:I

Life is cruel. No matter where you go its always the same. I hope we are given the opportunity to make the inquisition more faction-base or more supportive of the Tevinter Imperium an having a huge effect on Thedas.

 

We might, at the very least we can give Skyhold tevinter decorations if you wish to do so.

In the horizon a new day starts. The morning light crawls slowly in the streets of Minrathous paving a way for a new day. The mist on the streets starts to faint in the new days warmth. Outside the wall surrounding the tower yard sounds of busy people doing their daily chores increases.

*He stands in front of the stables main doors by the tower, pulling his gloves on. His stable master walks out of the stables personally escorting two saddled black mares and a white and brown blotchy packhorse carrying supplies. "Master if I only knew where you are going I could determine which horse would be best suited for your journey". He looks at his old white haired servant, this man has served his family for a very long time. The man was a stable master already when he was just trying to learn to walk.
"The matter is personal, and that is all you need to know" he says coldly. Old man seems upset but tries to hide it. "I´m sorry master, I wasn´t trying to pry on your business". "Good, that would be the best" he says, but softens his tone a bit. "You did well regardless, these are good horses".

*They are both dressed in travel clothes. brown laced long leather boots, pants with tunikas and hooded travel cloaks. Very conventional clothes. He has only a basic dagger as a weapon on his waist. A shoulder bag to hold parchments he uses for trading if gold is not enough. Nazlik has light dual sabres on her back and small horse archers bow with quiver attached to the saddle. She looks at the horses and him and smiles. He wonders if there is anything truth what his daughter said about Nazlik. "What harm could it cause anyway, doesn´t it only strenghen her loyalty?" he thinks to himself.
"Are we ready to go my master?" she asks eagerly.
"Yes, the faster we get on our way the better" he says reching for the reins. He walks to the servants gate behind the stables leading his horse and Nazlik follows him close by pulling her own horse and the packhorse with her.
Stable master says farewell watching them leaving and then notices one of the stable boys playing tricks to his fellow inside the stables. Old man heads to them eagerly to distribute some slaps on the ears.

*He opens the small gate and steps to the side alley with the horse. After Nazlik has made her way through the gate and closed it, they both get on the saddle and ride slowly out of the alley. He pulls his hood on and smells the air. "Isn´t the fresh morning scent with a hint of sea salt nice?" he asks from her. "It is my master" she says smiling.
"From now on you do not call me master" he says, "my name is Caeso Trebellius, second grade archivist and you are my wife, Didia".
Her smile becomes even wider.
It seems Nazlik is really enjoying this trip already. They ride slowly through the busy streets of Minrathous towards the southern city gates.

"He's here... i can sense him" the first enchanter said he knew he was planning was petty.. but retribution is a petty thing..

A large man entered the arena covered in burns and scars awaiting his next oppenent "As i bring salvation to the cursed i am given a place by the makers side. I walk the dark path to bring freedom to those who are oppressed by the curse" the man chanted

Then the gates opened showing his oppenent. It was the first enchanter wearing a rivaini robes showing his pride for his homeland and in rememberance for those lost

"Tarem you may have escaped my retribution before but now i will avenge my friends" the FE shouted as the arena spectators cheered and tarem recognizing him

"Ha so you've finally become what you've hated a tyrant, fighting for petty vendettas... i will grant you mercy monkey to be sent to the makers glory"

Tarem charged at him imbuing his sword with templar magic. Monkey threw a fireball intending to create a distraction and follow up with a bolt of lightning but Tarem easyly dispelled it and unleashed a burst of energy that sent monkey to the ground negating is ability to cast any magic.

"Ugh damn it not good.." he mumbled quickly getting to his feet ready to reengage his foe. The two engaged in a one-sided melee with Tarem having the upper hand constantly

"Enough" * Tarem shouted as he closed in and cut monkey's staff in half and then stabbing him in the shoulder and kicking him to the wall.

His arm was useless in his current state, his magic still silenced.. he considered allowing retribution to take over but worried about the aftermath.. but this was his fight.. no magic.. just skill. He picked up the sword end of his broken staff and readied himself for the final bout "This ends here" monkey charged at him almost getting ran through but pivoted himself to tarems rear and stuck him.

Tarem then fell to the ground the light slowly fading from his eyes. "Maker give me strength to strike this malificar down" his magic returning monkey finished the templar by incinerating the templar with his functional arm.

The arena cheered at the end of it throwing coins and flowers for the FE's victory... but he wondered was it worth it... sure tarem's dead.. but he still felt "empty".. he left the arena to heal and attend to his duties and weaking morality
