If you are brave, willing to improve, to gain power. There are ways.. it's not an easy path, and you would never be a true Magister, but you will know the fade and ways of the arcane.

I can make you do my every biding, to make you crawl on your knees, dance for my amusement, curse your bellowed Qun. Should we meet on the field of battle, you will find yourself but a candle in a wind storm.
Beautifully done. It's always nice to see such a fire in people! It's almost like you could have single handedly held Seheron against the Qunari and drove us back, but here we are. Not even all of Tevinter AND the people it HAD to ally with could get the job done. Here the Qun is on what used to be YOUR land. The largest island in all of Thedas. Really puts how "powerful" you are into perspective. You sure can preach it though I'll give you that. Only a collar will do for you I can see you will need to be captured.
Suicide? Look at history I'm going to have to say you don't have a choice.....You have an ultimatum. Make the right choice, or lose EVERYTHING. Tevinter is a joke. They only place they are "powerful" is in their own minds. And even that power isn't earned or deserved. My style is just fine btw. I have opened some eyes to the Qun and warmed many more hearts to it.
If it has no purpose in the Qun then it has no purpose at all. It would have been fun though. I am sad to see the choice you have made, but I also will not stand in your way. The side I pick is where the strong are. Where you earn your way and you need no allies, no help, no nothing. The people can take care of business and you can either hop on board or get ran over. That is the Qunari, that is Qun. We don't need help, we don't need allies, we don't need golems, we don't need magic, we don't need anything. We have an objective and it gets done. For someone to not respect that, to not want to be a part of that is absurd. If theres anything to respect and strive for its that. Not needing spells to wipe your arse.
Why leave? To join those that don't even have a place of their own to call home? To sit on my staff and think how great I am when I am nothing but a tool for the fade? To live in a place where stealing, murder, slavery, and everything else is accepted and looked over? Where its nothing but the weak and their lying and deceit?

But...as for an attempt to become a Mage? A meager pretender beside those who are genuinely gifted? I think I am of more use to Tevinter pursuing my current discipline.

Oxmen know in their hearts that the stylish finely crafted and decorated boot of the Magisters will crush them eventually. The feeling of the lingering doom is obvious and frightening. I have no desire for that, nor does any thinking being. Then of course is your blasphemous disregard for the worship of the Maker. to think that he is not real is a stupid notion, you bind, stitch and chain the people whom the maker has blessed with his gift of magic.

No but it's logical to kill him anyway because - ''I will not suffer even an unknowing RIVAL.'' So..
The only problem is not being able to take his place, not that you have to fight him.
I'd conscript all his defeated agents that I get to judge to my side. Give Leliana to Alexius to experiment away etc.
