I agree and don't agree.

on one hand, I would like to have that as a goal for my character in tevinter to strive for; and I know a good number of people are going to hate tevinter simply because it is a slave-holding country.

That said, Narratively this tension here creates for some interesting stories, even if I may dissagree withit

That's exactly it, though. Tevinter as we know it, cannot endure without the Slave trade.

If the country is reformed, we essentially lose Tevinter as we know it.

Spot on. Weaker countries need reforms. All our beloved Imperium needs is people with strong will to stand up to the barbarians and oxmen. Nothing more.

more likely slavery. Keep in mind that from an Out of Character/Player persepctive, slavery isn't exactly a postive trait of an empire. Lots of people have issues with it and would hate and complain to bioware if they had to support it. it could blow up in their face as this is a more touchy subject for people IMO.

Tevinter Imperium without slavery will not be interesting enough. I want to have my own slaves, maybe even trade them during 'operation table' missions. They would fit into place of a missing mabari dogs, although I don't mind having both dogs and slaves.

BW already gave us slave that we can torture in SWTOR: Vette. the only new thing that they can introduce is blood magick ritual changing non straight characters into straight ones. After all it plays it role in TE politics; breeding.

I don't know why but when I read the title of this thread, I felt like it needed a dramatic bass drum background music.

Jokes aside, I would like to see how things are managed in Tevinter (even though I don't agree with most of Tevinter's practices). A new hero perhaps based there? a slave or a next magister to play with. It would be interesting

Why would it get us locked. It is lore established practise, all we need to do is to keep real life talk from it. I would with no doubt, not even a shred of hesitation, use this ritual on Dorian and make him a healthy part of Tevinter Imperium and house Pavus.

we don't know that the ritual would have even worked; it could have just as well turned him into a drooling vegetable. More over I doubt bioware would endorse magical gay conversion, that would blow up in their face big time.

Why wouldn't it work. You can do pretty big things with magick. I'm willing to take a risk, at worst I will put him in my garden and sell tickets for drooling carrot show. They have already endorsed it by putting in the Tevinter Imperium lore. Maybe they will retcon it, who knows. But if there won't be a retcon and we ar egoing to visit TE then I wish to see it in practise.

I really doubt bioware will do something that endorses homophobia.

I like things being in order and this makes perfect sense lorewise. They can't do TE properly if they cut content from it.

Please, try to avoid bringing real life socio-political subjects into this thread.

There is more to blood magic then just magic gay conversion, which btw you brought up first. I don't see tevinter being ruined because they show blood magic in its power, glory, and horror but they don't include magic gay conversion.

Of course there is much more to blood magick, but conversion from non straight to straight is a neat feature that would definately enhance gameplay and immersion. Yes, I have brought up first but in a lore focused form, without real life tentacles. I see it as integral part of Tevinter Imperium, alongside with slavery and many other things. I imagine being able to sacrifice slaves too and other people from lesser stations. It could be included with a 'table quest' where you send your agents for manhunt, to capture poor and weak (nobles sometimes) and then you perform a blood magick ritual that gives you + permanent stats and maybe even opens new dialogue options as you become more and more recognised Magister.

They have balls to support homosexual relationships, transgender people, which a lot of people even on these forums have problems with. Why can't they have balls to stick to the ideals of Tevinter?

I for one ''out of character, player perspective'' am tired as hell about morality being stuffed down my throat, I don't want to fight against slavery.

There's some indication the next game might take place partially in Tevinter. Fingers crossed.

so you are saying that they should be endorising homobphobia?

I repeate what does the lack of magic gay conversion change about the nature of blood magic. It is still the evil/dark magic that you like.  There is more to it, nor does that need to be there.

I say you should be able to do whatever you want in a video game and NOT tie it to political BS. You should be able to support slavery, racism, homophobia, whatever. Is killing ok? No, yet in video games we slaughter people by the thousands, but hey that's totally fine, that's not a concern. Why the hell are moral choices towards other people supposed to be a problem?

I don't like blood magic because it's evil/dark, I don't even consider it to be evil/dark, I like it because it's powerful.

But my original comment wasn't even about this gay conversion you were discussing with other people, I don't care about this aspect. But if someone does, all the power to them, let them have fun.
