Well, I never said that exactly. I don't want to attempt to be a mage, but learning as much as possible about magic isn't doing that. Trying to be a mage when one is not would seem both presumptuous and pretentious to me...Not to mention rather lacking in class. I would also not perceive a mundane who had learned some form of magic through another mage's manipulation of the fade, or the assistance of a spirit, to actually be a mage. I did not perceive Fenris as a mage, even though he had magical abilities.

I would, however, be eager and grateful to learn as much of magic as possible. 

 

At the same time, I am not utterly confident that I would have courage in the face of encountering...say...Zarr. Not that I imagine you go around introducing people, by any means.

If I understand your meaning correctly, that I am a Darwinistic like you, then I would have only one point in response: If you had a choice between doing something that would benefit you or something that would benefit me, then you would select the option that would benefit you...as is befitting a Magister (and a Darwinist). In the same position, I would also select the option that benefits you, as is befitting one who serves the Magisters. 

 

I believe, I am thus disqualified from being classified as a true Darwinist.
