Spells are not a destructive as explosives.....the ONLY thing a mage have over a Qunari....you can heal each other.  Oh wait a minute.....

You need one hell of an explosive to match my spells Shok. Those kind of explosives will not see the world in your lifetime.

Well actually...gatlock can apparently bring down reinforced stonework I'd rate a canon shell to around six to eighteen sticks of TNT from the lore and the brief glimpse in DAI.

So stronger than what you average magi can do non augmented.

Far stronger in truth.

You'd need to be a PC special snow flake.

+1 really hate time travel tbh. Very slippery plot device, actually cannot ever be done right, too many variables.

I am.  ^_^

Would totally blow up  dreadnought or a.. wall. xD

That's one of the reasons I laugh when Shok says he could beat me in combat. It would just go like *splat*.

The first problem we have here is that people automatically put man made explosions on a higher level vs magical explosion. As if on the start magic is somehow inferior. There is absolutely zero evidence of this. We have not seen a single time how the Imperium uses magic to make military level explosions or otherwise. Qunari have powder, sure. It is strong, sure. But is it superior to magic? No. Nothing seen or read from Thedas so far has indicated so. What we have seen points to a opposite direction, four mages blowing up a qunari dreadnought.

To quote Solas that's how anti magic abilities work, casting off the foreign influence of magic by grounding it in the natural state of the world.

Because according to him, magic has become a foreign element.

It also explains why Templar and Seeker abilities are so effective.

It's like just invoking an already immersed power.

Reality rules Thedas.

It's laws, not magic are supreme now.

Tell you what, a single Templar won't overpower my influence over reality, nor will a bunch. But if I face like 50, who will all focus on blocking me out from the fade, I'll switch to the taint instead.

Also seekers draw their powers from the fade as well, so don't clump them together with Templar abilities.

I say Anders made quite the explosive. Mages could just make a bunch of those and then launch them at Qunari bases. Why not?

Your average mage cannot demolish a building with a fireball.

Scorch the stonework perhaps but not obliterate it.

So in terms of relatives I'd argue nine times out of ten the Gatlock beats magic.

Magic can bring down walls as well.

Kirkwall is an example but we have no idea of how many mages were involved or what power was invoked.

Not at once ( if it's an average mage ), but thy could prepare a ritual, an artifact that could do that after a few hours of investing magical energies into it.

Thinking about infusing my body with some lyrium tats btw.. Red. Should fit in the body well seeing as how Red is the tainted lyrium, and the taint is already present.

Would have a nice extra power supply.

Three things.

A few dozen Templars overpowered the largest concentration of magical energies in the modern age along with the anchor.

So thinking that fifty would be required for a single mage is amusing grand standing or being OP either way it's more a joke to me.

Two the Taint can be magically negated as well.

It's spell casting is not protected or immune.

Three Solas inferred it was the same in principle for both orders.

Pretty sure that by Lore there was a lot more templars working on that breach, and the Inquisition is a lot more grand, bigger than a computer engine can give justice to.

Yeah I like OP.

No but that would be twice the chore, and more prone to being overpowered, keeping both the Fade and the taint at bay.

Tainted processed lyrium + tainted blood + having a support from Zarr.. I'll pull it off. ;)

Remember Cory had red lyrium in him as well? yeah.

See, more of this is what we need. Toss a few of around Minrathous' harbor, weight them down... Whatever ships survive being torn apart by multiple gravity vortexes will be obliterated by the following shockwaves.

Actually no.

According to Cullen the veterans were only a few dozen in number.

So twenty four to forty eight would be my guess.

Templars that were with Cullen + Barris men = 48? Srsly? That's all the Inquisition had?

They were the Vanguard sent to seal the breach.

See what Magister KainD said. If a single southerner mage can release such a devastation what can the mighty Imperium do, with a military concentrated and trained in magical fighting/creating explosions for centuries?

As for your average mage, we have no actual knowledge how powerful or destructive fireballs are since gameplay dwarfs mage abilities for balance. And for them we have only seen your average circle mage. Not a Tevinter mage, there is a big difference. The first one is taught to curb his power, the second one is encouraged to exploit it.

Not innately and that's the point.

Using a focus or ritual is using a power outside of the mage.
