So Tevinter knows how to use fire ships as well (Venatori use one to attack Denerim), I imagine those would work wonderfully on Dreadnaughts as well.

Just like their real life counter parts their pretty much worthless against naval opponents though.

Three fereldan war galleys were more then it's match.

I have a feeling we're not talking about the same thing.

Good lord, I'd hope so. That would be beyond embarrassing if they weren't.

Again, I'm not sure we're even talking about the same thing.

Naval warfare involving fire ships?

What do you mean by "fire ship", because if it's the same thing I'm thinking of, this:

Just like their real life counter parts their pretty much worthless against naval opponents though.

Is, like, emphatically wrong.

I'd suspect a warship armed with incendiary weapons either in the form of mages or launchers for pots and pitch.

You know like actual fire ships.

Unless if they went Greek...

No. I'm talking about ships filled with flammable and/or explosive materials, that are intentionally set on fire and sent sailing in the direction of the enemy.

Oh.

Those weren't what were used.

You don't crew those types.

Sure the Venatori would likely do it but what would be the point besides suicide?

Well, you actually do to a certain point.

If successful, accomplishing the same thing (setting the city on fire) with a lot less effort. Against the Qunari, there is even greater potential.

Usually its given a heading and abandoned unless if things go wrong.

If you look at their usage in modern and ancient warfare amicus.

There's fire ships such as those used by Sir Francis Drake in order to help scatter the Spanish Armada

The infamous Greek Fire Ships of the Byzantine Empire (also called "Dromons")

Then there are artillery ships, predominantly used by Rome and Carthage that used pots filled with flammable material, also snakes and other unpleasant items

Which would be impossible unless the ship embarked from the Fereldan mainland itself.

Considering it came out out of southern Fereldan at least by destination it wouldn't be impossible.

I like the idea of artillery ships which is why I'd think that is what Tevinter employed.

Southern Ferelden? Considering the placement of Denerim, it would be beyond unlikely. I was thinking somewhere along that same inlet that leads to the city.

The Drakon river?

I suppose, pointing being though it set off from Gwaren.
