it is the rejection of both magic and the weaknesses of mortality.
Someone told me that anti-magic templars would block out the blight and the lyrium.

And the hypocrisy arises haha
I also love how he basically calls me immortal power incarnate, and then says how his random Elf necromancer will beat me.
ikr but hey its fun to watch him go in circles about blah blahI also love how he basically calls me immortal power incarnate, and then says how his random Elf necromancer will beat me.

It grows, it absorbs, it consumes, it is the rejection of both magic and the weaknesses of mortality.

And tainted at that.
I always find it weird that mages are almost completely unaffected by refined Lyrium and do not get addicted to it but raw Lyrium is lethal to them, more lethal than it is to none-mages at least.
Lyrium is in the blood i believe it just augments usI always find it weird that mages are almost completely unaffected by refined Lyrium and do not get addicted to it but raw Lyrium is lethal to them, more lethal than it is to none-mages at least.

I think WoT likened it to a kind of "mana overload" that the mages can't handle. The kind that is (relatively) safe for consumption, processed Lyrium, is heavily diluted.

Mages probably don't get 'addicted' to Lyrium because they're constantly drawing mana from the fade on some level. Meaning addicted or not it doesn't matter; they're always getting their fix naturally.
Oh, and mages can definitely get addicted to Lyrium. They even suffer different effects:
Mages have additionally been known to suffer physical mutation: The magister lords of the Tevinter Imperium were widely reputed to have been so affected by their years of lyrium use that they could not be recognized by their own kin, nor even as creatures that had once been human.

I get the impression the whole mutations thing has kind of been swept under rug seeing has no ever brings it up anymore, not even people from Tevinter.

there is still no mention of a mage getting addicted to it.

That could easily be the case.

It could be because no mage really has a need to personally consume so much Lyrium any more. Prices have probably gone up over time (especially after the most the Lyrium in the empire was used to breach the Fade), and if someone truly needs a lot of power quick... blood comes much cheaper.
For mages of the southern Circles, there's just no reason for them to be drinking processed Lyrium regularly. They have the raw stuff for certain rituals such as the Harrowing, but how often do you think they'd really need to boost their regular spellcasting, with the Circle's permission?

And there we go, if that's the case it all boils down to one and the same thing every single time - if a mage is powerful there won't be any problem, as the proportion received from lyrium won't be too much for the huge natural mana pool to handle.

I was actually mistaken :>
It just says the dangers are more acute for magically-sensitive beings, which includes blistering, nausea, memory loss, deafness, and internal hemorrhaging.
