So tell me, what do you think of Orlais ?

Eh...I actually have to read that **** carefully to make it out.
It's not much of an issue unless I actually need to talk to them, given that he's sort of a jerk I don't feel the need.
You are from Orlais, anti- mage in Tevinter, of course you must strive to understand me. This is a land governed by magi.

...actually meant pronunciation and grammar but alright.
Oh, sorry about that, I already explained my problem with English xD
Joke opinion: its a wonderful place of cheese and lovly women who can kill me after a passionate night.
Honest opinion: on the surface orlais is the jewel of southern thedas but deep down i see her as a gilded nation of petty squabbles and expansionism. The "game" they play is the only thing that keeps them incheck and were ot not for the white chantry having its fingers in everything id be alot more tolerant. Add to how their chevailars have free reign to do as they please with lesser born, makes me even more against them as a nation. Sure the current empress is more to my liking but the damage is done. Mind you i dont love orlaisans anymore than tevinters or qunari each are self-destructive or over the moon and my opinion is none meta knowledge since it cause arguement i truly dont care to hear haha. Its simple to classify villians and heroes. Its all peespective which why i never take a side full hearted for i will lose perspective for either bigotry/prejudce or stupidity
The ''Game'' reminds me Asoiaf. Your views on anything are always enigmatic, equal to that discussion we had about the circle of magi.
Z, I'm curious. Do you only ever play as a warrior?
*sniping the long, awesome post*
So cool. I haven't...really cool.
I'm going to start checking the dungeons more.
DA4 Qunari will allow ''captured'' mages to decide what role they want to take on in the Qun.
these comments will never get hold to me.
it reminds me more like office politics played to win more than a corner office. The ''Game'' reminds me Asoiaf. Your views on anything are always enigmatic, equal to that discussion we had about the circle of magi.

And its a gift being a enigma on my views lol. But really its simply seeing everything more than what it is.
Ex: Z can be extreme overly stern and stubborn but thats just one side to him but if one talks with him with logic(or my case curiousity) you find a interesting nuance in his views and i often on occassion find common ground, when we arent rping
Ex2: magic is dangerous and its power can be a "negative influence" but by seeking to understand its power and limits aswell it practicioners. I've found a beautiful interpetation on the arcane arts and how it should be used. I believe that magic is a tool(a dangerous but wonderful tool) that is benign on its own but in the hands of fool or madman/woman its a tool of destruction and malice but in the hands of healer or scholar its a tool of faith, justice, and morality. In the end its up to the user to deciede what his tool is to be used for(we do need a academy for training tevinter style or not)
Ex 3: spirits are just emotional or ideological spectrums they are people who focus on one aspect due to mortals preconceptions. Is a spirit a "demon because it embodies lust? Is a demon a spirit because it embodies zeal? All good questions that are worthy of investigation
Ex 4: are mages and templars so easily defined as jailors or oppressed? No they are not. The world is not so black and white. It is a spectrum of belief
We engage in an interesting field.
The reason I like The Witcher for example is this gray tone that he has and I saw in Dragon Age ( started with the witcher and then went to the dragon age ) You showed me an interesting social discussion, the country where I live currently, social discussions happens every time and it is interesting to see that even in fiction it returns ( otherwise) Here for example we have an economic oppression(the people have a lot of racism too) and this generates many bandits that are usually created by poverty and to combat this we have corrupt cops and oppressors, saw my point? I see this relationship between magi and Templars, if you get it. In the world of dragon age I am extremist, but in the real case I tend to go for a more gray side like you, I found it interesting how you view magic, same as my, only I look the other way '' magic is like the sword of a soldier ''

. For me its similar for why i smpathize with magi, they are people while "dangerous" they are still people of course their has to be a balance but at what point should freedom be sacrified for freedom. Honestly i see no easy answer or right one i see and sympathize with both groups
I fully agree, people not choose to be born as a '' Mage '' they are simply born, I do not agree to judge a group of people by the action of one, if get it (I'm doing this to see if you understand my English). I have nothing against the Templars, they do their work. My problem is the people and the Chantry. I do not question the existence of the Maker or anything, I do not care about this, What I care about is their will to lock up the magi in that towers. About the Qunari... that's a tricky one for me, I served the army for a year and there I had brainwashed... so I ''understand'' the Qun...and his fear of Saarebas, in a way. I like to discuss with you , good to see the point of view of a person from another culture.

Z, I'm curious. Do you only ever play as a warrior?
The qunari... the whole word makes the back hair of my head raise. It is the most opressive and anti-individual system of Thedas. No personalities, no freedoms, no names. Everyone is regarded as tools and their worth is just that. Tools have use, for a time. What then? Are there retirement homes under the qun? I seriously doubt it, it serves no purpose.
Real world equal would be north Korea probably, not anything historical. A place where leaving or deviating from your place in society is rewarded with death. Person is as valued as a tool, no more.
I loathe that system. In the end, when Imperium eradicates it from the face of Thedas, I am finally happy.
*stomps staff to marble floor furiously and sends lightning bolts across the Magisterium*
It does have its flaws
And an expiration date, like all non-tervinter things.
ah now i get to my views on tevinter hahaAnd an expiration date, like all non-tervinter things.
Tevinter is the truth. That or the life of an apostate in Southern Thedas. Does anyone honestly believe that freedom for southern mages will last for more than a month? The South has bred hatred for all things magical for generations; the hate for magic is not going to go away no matter how naive people wish to be. Ultimately, they are at the mercy of their masters and puppeteer mages who dole out allowances to keep the sheep satisfied. The mercy of a system that has stripped magi of their humanity and sees them for nothing but ticking time bombs. Tevinter is what mages should strive for; mages should want true freedom like any mundane in the south. Not temporary privileges that can be taken at anytime if you so much as sneeze in the presence of a bigoted mundane. It's a spencer society that understands strength; Tevinter does not hide behind the Maker and spout platitudes at those less fortunate. You sink or you swim.
Question to my fellow magisters...and to the rivianni fellow...what should we do with the southern mages now that they rebelled and are trying to get freedom? Invite them over? Try to help them (through underground movements) establish a second mage-friendly/ruling nation in thedas? Let those filthy andrastian dogs die?
Give me suggestions.
