That's not what I'm implying. I merely saying that Tevinter isn't the only nation that practices slavery. I abhor slavery but I understand why they allow it - they need it to maintain their economy after all.
Bull****

Oh...well as long as its just to maintain the economy then.... ![]()
You forgot.
Are pitiful and weak.
Can do nothing without their magic.
Living on borrowed time.
Will look good in their Qunari anti magic collars....those that survive.

The future of all Qunari, Best get used to it now
Future life in Minrathous is going to be sweet, No longer shall I have to distribute all my luggage among weak elven slaves, These Qunari be strong and shall make life so much more convenient.
*They teamed up with the Bro race the Dwarves!
*The Imperium created the Blights!
Some friends you turned out to be.
This made me laugh. ![]()

HAH! Keep that in your dreams bud. Thats the ONLY place thats gonna happen. The arrogance of humans is staggering.....they really think they are above all and can do whatever they want. You think because elves are spineless and live under humans all races will. I can't wait till all of Tevinter gets blown to bits and theres nothing left but Qunari sifting through the rubble.
You know what I'm going to do on every single Tevinter corpse I pass?
Check out Tevinter Rose's posts in the Qunari support thread for her Arishok gif. ON ALL YOUR CORPSES.

We are above all, We broke the mighty elven empire, we pushed back the Qunari Hordes (Didn't even need an Exalted March to get you out of Antiva) The elves were once a strong and dominant race, and we broke them as we shall break you.
The only reason the Dwarves aren't kissing our feet is because they're the only ones that can mine Lyrium.
Andraste couldn't break Tevinter, The Qunari couldn't, The White Chantry and the nations of the south couldn't. Tevinter shall never fall, Tevinter shall rise again stronger than ever before.

The Dwarves of Orzammar send their armies to help lift the Siege of Marnas during 4th Blight, centuries later Tevinter Imperium content to leave the dwarves to battling Darkspawn alone. They never return the favor and help Orzammar. Scumbag Tevinter Imperium.

Just like I've told your other cheerleaders. YOU have done nothing. Your crutch has...your magic. Nothing you have you deserve. You rely on outside things to give you worth to give you strength. You know nothing of real strength, nothing of honor. You only know shortcuts and loop holes. When the day comes that you are tested you will fail. When your collar is on you will see how pitiful you really are.
The elves are nothing....vashedan. They don't even have a place to call their own. If you are ignorant enough to compare them to the Qunari you've already lost. No pity for the weak.
The only reason you didn't die before was because we were testing the waters. You had to scurry to all the other bas for help......it was no secret you had met your match. When the time for talk is FINALLY over and the Qun unleashes its righteous wrath upon Thedas you will be the first to go. Let them all see how the arrogant, the cocky....the weak who rely on outside forces to MAKE them strong and never earned anything their whole existance fall.

All hail the Imperium.
There is no denying, that even in this point in the series, the Imperium still holds much allure and power. Though many might not agree with their methods; none can deny that they are still one of the greatest powers in Thedas.
I hope that we will be going there in DA IV as well.
that is what fasicnates me about them there politics are iffy imo but their culture is curiousAll hail the Imperium.

A pride demon would have a field day with some people on this thread, LOL!
I am not immune to the allure of mystery and empire. I've always regretted that empires tend to be depicted as evil in fiction (realistically, they should be not more or less evil than any other political entity). Tevinter is certainly one of the most interesting cultures in Thedas, one I'd absolute hate to see fall (I hope they don't push the Byzantine analogy that far), and if its fall included the loss of all their magical knowledge I'd curse Bioware forever for again promoting the delusion that ignorance is good.
However, one should not be blind to its flaws. I don't blame them for the Blights. That was an accident they had no way to predict. Tacit acceptance of blood sacrifice, though, and the form of slavery they practice? I still have to see a convincing defense of those. Slavery takes many forms, and some of them may even be temporarily acceptable in the light of realistic alternatives in some worlds, but every evidence so far indicates Tevinter's isn't on of those.

Every culture has it's flaws, whether necessary or not. I would be impressed by any one who could prove that any culture in Thedas, that has no flaws. I think one of the things that makes the Imperium so unique is their radically different take on magic, where subdued in other places, is embraced as a position of power. Also the fact that, though they have converted in religion, they do not follow it the same way as every other nation.
Nice to see a Tevinter support thread!
As one of Tevinter's biggest fans, count me in!

I agree with the unique take on magic. Considering the flaws, however, so far Tevinter's make it appear rather more distasteful than, say, Orlais or Ferelden. Basically, much more distasteful than any other culture but the Qunari. Maybe that impression will get mitigated in future games and books that play in Tevinter rather than making us look at it from the viewpoint of cultures whose preferred boogeyman it is, but I do resent that the most magically advanced culture is also depicted as the most distasteful.
Having said that, I would actually support strengthening Tevinter at the expense of Orlais, if at least *some* leeway could be made to improving things in Tevinter itself. I don't feel comfortable supporting the tacit acceptance of blood sacrifice. Or perhaps there could be some revelation that things aren't quite as bad. For instance, that the victims of blood sacrifice actually don't usually die in the process, or that a magisters' style of slavery is individual and most actually aren't much like Danarius. That would bring down Tevinter's flaws to being more comparable with Orlais'.

Understandable. I believe that in evey major RPG, there is always a nation or organization that has to be the "big bad". Those who have played Morrowind will note that House Telvanni ( a group of magister lords) are depicted in a smiliar light. (Though they were not depicted as creating something along the lines of the Blights per say).
Circling back to Thedas, though not going as far has having slaves, technically, there is still a large divide between the wealthy and lower classes in Orlais as well. The main difference is wealth vs. magic. Enslaving in the physical sense and enslaving in the poverty sense.

When our enemies try to face us, we will destroy them with any weapons out our disposal, Magic is a tool to be pushed to its limits and used for both the benefit of the state and to utterly crush ones foes. That you view our great weapon as dishonourable and A weakness only makes it more amusing to use against you.
Such talk reminds me of a certain east-asian group that refused to use firearms viewing them as dishonourable, That group is now extinct.
And so shall you be, For your greatest weapon you keep leashed and untrained like dogs, you fear them like all the craven cowards under the Qun, they are nothing in the face of Imperial mage might.

Hey now the Archon gave the dwarves a lot of acolades and one of them became a Paragon! So I say it wasn't that bad.
Query how do tevinter punish magi tgat step out of line. If the answers acceptable i might side with them
If you mean a non-magister I'm pretty sure its those dumb enough to scream outside of the Minranthous Circle: "HEY MAGISTERS, I'M GOING TO USE THIS AWESOME SPELL TO KILL YOU AND BECOME A MAGISTER MYSELF!" Afterwards a small force of Templars will apprehend the numbnuts and perform the rite of Tranquility on him/her. Then he/she will be shown to other non-magister mages so that they can avoid being stupid.
