Serfdom isn't slavery peasant.

It's not a slippery slope. The entire purpose of viddath-bas is to provide free labor. They are property, beasts of burden even (this much also applies to Saarebas). They don't have any choice, or any rights. That's as basic and literal as slavery gets.
You can get sentimental with the "hopeless" bull****, but that doesn't change what it is.
Seems to me purposely creating slaves that need 24/7 care and support....they can't even feed themselves or go to the bathroom is pretty far off from "efficient"
If you wanted to engage in slavery then you would do like Tevinter does. Or at the very least there would be a more effective way than that to have slaves.

Ah, so efficiency is the criteria that defines what slavery and what isn't? Now that is a slippery slope.
I'll humor you. Even if it were, it would be more like a counterbalance or trade-off. On one hand, you do have a body of slaves that need constant assistance to fulfill their basic needs. On the other, it's a workforce that literally does not have the capacity to rebel or question.
I wonder what Tevinter would think of the practice... considering how much of their old power has been undone by rebelling slaves.
o.o Considering Qumek obliterates higher functions I doubt slaves treated with it are capable of more than physical labor.
Also you need people to help them eat...
You were a little slow on this one.

It more that as the Qunari are currently written in the world of Dragon Age and how they are described, to say they make "slaves" for that purpose when at the same time they are greatly handicapped and require much assistance and attention is absurd.

A hobbled slave is still a slave. Really, it's not hard to understand.

I never said the end result wasn't a slave. I said Qunari weren't slavers and didn't use qamek for that PURPOSE. To make the most out of what is left is perfectly understandable, but to say that slavery is the idea and reason behind it or the fact that what is left is more of a hindrance than a help.

How can it be absurd if it's literally slavery? Again, you seem to be stuck on parameters (efficiency, popular opinion) that don't actually affect whether or not it's actually slavery.

Actually this started by you saying the Qunari made slaves that couldn't fight back. And I said no thats not true...thats just a side effect.
If we are arguing semantics now then thats fine. I have nothing more to add. You can throw whatever title you want on it....but if you're going to practice slavery then it should be productive.

Side effect? That's the entire purpose of the Qamek process. You think if it made people total vegetables without any capacity for labor, they would still use it? lol.

The problem with that is that they are obviously more of a help than a hinderance. After all, given the Qun's obsession with efficiency they'd likely just kill them as Tal-Vashoth if Qamek didn't make them contribute meaningfully. Also you have to keep in mind that Qamek zombies have value in being a great terror tool, either toe the party line or end up a wasted shell of yourself slaving away for the very thing you rebelled against.
Finally, you have to remember they're not actually 'salvaging' anything, they're purposefully destroying people who disagree with their philosophy. Qamek is the final resort of the ultimate slaver society where everyone is enslaved to the demands of the Qun. So yes the Qunari are slavers, they want to drag everyone down to their level of mindless obedience and if you refuse to comply willingly they will use Qamek to accomplish that very same purpose.
An illustration of your inability to comprehend reality?
It is apt.

I fail to see how a "slave" who cannot even feed themselves or even properly use a bathroom could be anything other than a hindrance in a Qunari society. You have any thoughts on that?

It's me coming to the realization that either.
A. You are trolling me.
or
B. Ignore the game's lore. The fact that if what you claim is stupid. If it was true then half of Par Vollen or even more would be zombies.
and either way I do not care enough to continue.

They can do simple hard tedious labour for hours on end with out complaint, thought of rebellion, or even getting bored. Having a couple of handlers baby sitting them is a small price to pay for a workforce capable of doing the jobs no one else would want to do.

In my mind if you can't even feed yourself you aren't capable of doing work that require motor functions beyond moving a fork from a plate to your mouth. I guess we might see in a future game.

I'm pretty sure it is you who doesn't understand the Qunari lore, mr. "Next Arishok". The Viddath-pas are utilized for menial, unskilled labor such as working the mines. That is what they offer the Qunari society.
The idea that the Qunari would create a demographic of people who are a net hindrance to society entirely contradicts what the Qun is about.

The first part may be true. As I see more and play more then my view may change. I am man enough to admit when I am wrong...although this would just be a case of needing more information, but from everything I have to go on (having played all dragon age games) its sound to me.
The second part has been my point the whole time.

It's a lot easier to swing a pick, use a shovel, or simply pull around things than it is to use a fork if you're lacking fine motor-control.
The second part has been my point the whole time.
Which has nothing to do with the question of slavery. If the Viddath-bas were a net hindrance, they wouldn't exist at all. But since they do, clearly the (slave) labor they offer has proven to be worth the time and resources it takes to care for them.
