I've always wondered why the vints did this.  If you are so pro mage and blah blah blah....why do you allow mages to be treated the way they are in the south?

Their view is similar to Morrigan's: why expend resources helping those who allow themselves to be imprisoned?

Power and freedom is for the mages to take, as it would be expected of them in Tevinter.

tevinter is partly a meritocracy. To them if they refuse to take their "rightful place" then they arent worthy of aide. This just my theory though... it could because they lack table manners

There are several types of people and each expressed their different opnion. For example: I am in favor of extremism of the mages, I like the rebellion ideia and thought crap like the rebellion was resolved in Inquisition. But what a poor guy like me can do? is a south system, a guy alone can not do anything, that saying: '' unity is strength, alone is weak '' comes in handy at this time. No one can save the fate of the magi alone if they do not want, then be complaining sometimes does not help, the world needs more action and less bureaucracy. Going back to your original question, as I said, most people of this topic people are pro-mage, but how they act relating to it is different, but does not change the fact that we are pro-mages. It is interesting to see... example, we have those who like the slavery here and others do not, there are those who also think the mages are a superior ''race'' and others not, you know what I mean? I think you will not understand... my English sucks ._.

Well, Tevinter is dominated by mages, the Magisterium is the Senate Tevinter and larger houses have their seats in the Senate. They make the laws. Magisters , meanwhile, come from the ranks of the Circle of Magi and the Imperial Chantry, but most hold Their seats by virtue of having an Archon Granted it to Their family long ago.

tevinter is arguably a meritocracy which mages by technicality rule. Its gov't is has senate that make its laws and all the other boring stuff, the archon can veto certain laws if its required.

What others said, much like the ancient Rome and senate of its time. Except senators are Magisters.

Although I like to point out that Tevinter is like Byzantine right now. The Ancient Tevinter was like Rome but after becoming Andrastian its more like Byzantine than Rome.

Except it will not fall like the Byzantine Empire in real life, and it'll be the savage Qunari who will fall.

Though according to Dorian he never does, Something tells me the Magisterium actually has The Archon under the thumb. If thats true I can't wait for one to come along and put them in their place (Maybe even help them =D) All must kneel for the Archon.

Sounds like Hessarian got them to do it however, bypassing them and creating a connection between the Archon and the Soporati. Brought the Magisters and High Priests to heel. Damn Hessarian is awesome, despite the temple of andraste ghost I hope his conversion was purely political because that would make him Tevinter's ultimate badass. Though he still would be anyway, Old God Temples were growing weak and failling apart anyway according to codex's from DAI

Alright, so I'm asking this here because I figure that you Tevinter-loving players also have an interest in Alexius and will be able to answer this. I've been trying to think of the various bad things that Alexius actually does which might be enough to warrant his execution. For me there is always this element of pity for Alexius because of his son that I find it difficult to execute him, so I've tossed him in prison. Most of this is running through the facts I'm aware of. Feel free to add or correct anything.

I ignore the whole future thing. Both Dorian and I come out of that unscathed, and I'm not going to punish someone for events that haven't happened yet.

He kicks out Arl Teagan and indentures the mages. This is bad yes, but not too horrible IMO. By the time we get there nothing bad has yet happened to the mages.

So far the only really terrible thing is the whole mess with the Oculara and the tranquil skulls. Honestly, this is so horrendous and disgusting that it might just be enough, but I still want to know if I'm missing anything else.

Does Dorian have any sort of reaction (as in dialog, not just approval changes) if you either have him do research or execute him? This is one of those cases where I would like to have a follower's input on a judgement. [edit] I just watched all of the judgement options for him on YouTube and Dorian doesn't have any approval reactions to any of them, which I find interesting.

He's the one who took my Fiona and pushed me over the edge. I cannot tranquil/execute him fast enough.

Dorian's approval comes into play once you talk to him again after judging Alexius.

Alexius is pretty much broken anyhow, I told him to research under guard. He was a zombie after he lost Felix.

He has done nothing bad since nothing happened like you said. There is no reason to lop his head off. I hired him to do magical research.

If you execute him and speak to Dorian later, he'll actually be pretty bummed about it and you'll get a disapproval hit. I'd imagine it's the same if you make him Tranquil.
