At this Point We don't know enough about the venatori. Your theori is possible, as well as them being sent in Ferelden and Orlais because the Senate/Archon decided.
If I recall the Venatori are related to a quest in Nevarra as well, infiltrating the king's court. I doubt a small faction will operate in thee countries (if Not more).
Small faction to the Glorious Tevinter Imperium.
I'm sure the rest of thedas will see them as a massive threat.
kind of like how irrelevant countries that appear tiny on the map are ruled by "kings" or how North Korea considers itself a global power.
Obviously is the US's entire national guard landed in those place's it would be seen as a massive invasion...... while the US would want to know why only the national guard was sent.
Again, that's headcanon. We don't know yet how big the Venatori Are in tevinter.Small faction to the Glorious Tevinter Imperium.

Think of it as learning a foe plans pre-emptivly. If they speak gibberish you lack context and are at a disadvantage but if you both know gibberish you potenially have the edge.
Just a thought senor mage

Some of us, anyway. Others would be speaking Tevene.

I'm going to the dogs/I'm fucked.
Na via lerno victoria:
Only one lives to know victory.
Vishanti caevas:
The Three Demons take you!
(Vadeve) Venhedis:

To the Void with you!
Fastevas:
lit. May they all screw.
Screw/**** them all.
Asti a vala femundis:
To the stars through difficulty.

If they were just garden variety bastards, I'd support the imperium for fun.
I don't find slavery funny though. Even in games, I just can't bring myself to roleplay with factions like that. Like in Fallout or NV.
Well, all the nations have their faults, but slavery and blood magic are big negatives on Tevinter, I agree. I am more in support of the Imperial Chantry and its hope for a better Tevinter as envisioned by Hessarian. I think it does need a second Transfiguration.
However, it is better than the Qunari, and they are the only faction that is actively opposed to the Qunari, so it has my support in that as well.
Maybe if other nations were friendlier towards Tevinter, there could be greater trade and economic growth and more pressure to remove slavery, but with being isolated and at war with the Qunari, I don't think change will come easily or even be tolerated at this time.

I can agree with all that actually.
And I think Hessarian might have been a cool guy. It's an important element missing from the rest of the chantry.
One thing I like about Tevinter is that their culture is pretty unapologetic. All other nations condemn them and they are like: "Yeah... WHATEVER".

That might change with Dorian. I get the feeling he's got some beef with them.
Also, Lambert was a Templar from Tevinter. He hated them more than other countries do.

I'm sure we will discover more nuanced aspects of Tevinter culture, and Dorian (and maybe Lambert) will convey that but one could argue Lambert and Dorian are just individuals.
I hope Dorian won't be just defined by his status as a renegade from Tevinter and will display some pride for his nation (I don't know, maybe he thinks Tevinter is better at developing magic potential despite his opposition to its excess or maybe he has his own interpretation of the "Magic must serve Man...etc...").
Tevinter's nobles seem to be as varied in their views as Orlesian and Fereldan nobles.
Some are good people, some are villains.
Dorian's title is "The Redeemer," and so I would assume he does have some pride and/or hope in his nation. If he didn't, why bother redeeming it? Why not just abandon it like Lambert? As he isn't a magister, he can be voted to become the Archon... just wanted to point that out...

Yeah, I don't mean to bundle him and Lambert together. I was just mentioning both of them, not relating them per se. The only relation I suspect is they are dissenters from Tevinter's status quo. But I don't think Dorian has abandoned them.
Wait a minute. Only non Magisters can become the Archon? I sense a great opportunity with my friend Dorian.
Human Mage Inquisitor 'Hey Dorian old buddy, ever think about becoming Archon? '
Indeed. Archons either inherit their position or are elected by the Magisterium. No magister or member of the Imperial Chantry is eligible.

Ah yes forgot about the Imperial Archons, added it to the OP.
I think tevinter is impressive in that they are still fighting the qunari and the chantry declares the exauhlted marches on them however many times they did and yet the tevinter capital has never fallen. That said the higher up people are for the most part horrific.
