Sure, meant the Imperium vs qunari, not the blight. That would require a game of its own. Just a local conflict.

I'm all for Tevinter invading the south.  That place is garbage anyways.  Go get em...I'll even cheer for you.  Ambition is a great and powerful thing....when it starts turning into insanity though....you need to be put back in line.  Qunari all day.

This is funny, especially after the southerners were getting wrekt by a rogue Tevinter cell.

Eheh, insanity is thinking the Qunari weren't completely castrated in DA:I. Tevinter's conquest of them in DA4 is all but guaranteed if Bioware decides to stick with the cuddly cows approach.

Not on the field.

In fact the two times they did meet Orlais won handedly.

Arbhor Wilds and what was the second time? If there is one thing the derpy time travel plot proved, its that Orlais would have been toppled like the house of cards it is if it weren't for the Inquisitor's bacon saving plot armor. Heck Celene and Gaspard armies couldn't even cope with a few undead summoning cultists in the exalted plains.

No; it just comes from knowing 80% of a war is mathematics and logistics.

I honestly think either.

A.  The writers were clueless and new

or

B.  With the talk of the "Kossith" In DAI they are gearing up for them to be the next powerhouse and as a result they have to make the Qunari like muppets or something.

I can already see it. Tevinter and the Qunari fighting the greatest battle; incomes the Kossith smashing both their armies. Becomes the mayor antagonist of the plot.

Which blows the Qunari, well the real Qunari from previous games, had great potential as looming threat. Now they're just...meh.

Yup and that's why those Exalted marches finally forced Tevinter to accept the heretical white chantry... oh wait  :P

"The last Exalted March on the Imperium ends in retreat for Orlais"

Oops. That was even between two separate instances of Orlais getting shamed by barbarians and farmers.

Again that wasn't due to any innate strength of Cory's forces or any innate weakness on the side of Orlais it was due to the oddity of situation and circumstance.

Orlais ripped itself apart with infighting in the alternative future with Gaspard and Celene both dying, the armies of both likely were tugged in whatever direction a would be usurper pulled in.

As for the exalted plains...both sides had already withdrawn to their fortresses when the deserters struck, it was no grand victory. It was taking individual garrisons that had already been bled by the war.

So sure there wasn't a organized response due to the ongoing peace talks but it wasn't something I'd laud overly.

And the second victory came at Val Chevin in the diplomatic option after the peaced talks have concluded.

You basically ask the Orlesians to take back the city and assist the Templars and loo and behold the Venatori are routed.

That's quite a long time ago, the Imperium actually had the muscle to take territory back then.

Also those marches ended for only ONE reason buddy and you know it.

It wasn't Tevinter military supremacy.

Point remains, Orlais struggled to deal with a tiny splinter faction of malcontents from Tevinter who enjoyed no real support. From Tevinter's point of view the Venatori were a lulzy joke at Orlais' expense, from Orlais point of view they were actual credible threat that almost succeeded in toppling them.

Heck, Nevarra gives Orlais a run for its money and when Josie brings up the prospect of an Alliance she suggests you go with Tevinter instead as they are the greater power. Guess where that leaves Orlais? In the same position as their french inspiration full of bluster and nothing.

Since they weren't able to hold any of the lands they conquered outside of Minrathous, I'll mark it under Orlesian military ineptitude :>

Orlais got hobbled by Tevinter's losers and wackos. There's no denying it.
