doubtful he's stuck in his ways lolWhen I have my own, maybe I can host it. However, when he understood that Qun is a flawed system for mages and when it is too tired, well, have a shelter here as any other .

I've moved on to quoting random "rap" lyrics.

Here's something to rock the boat, what would people think of abolishing the system of attaining Magister status through inheritance?

That sounds silly. What would be the purpose of such a change?

Silly?! Viceroyalties and Governorships are way better than the chump alternative. Landed Vassals, psh. They will bend to the Archons will or be destroyed, thats their choice.
And this Feudalism in the south displeases me, when they rejoin the Empire we will implement Imperial Administration laws

A seat upon the senate is something that should be earned, not merely dropped into one's lap when their only qualification is a surname. Such a change would help crush the Altus stranglehold and introduce new blood in worthier candidates.

And you'll castrate them all, I imagine? Anyway, you'll note two things: 1. Imperial Administration is meant to reflect the Roman government and 2. viceroys you appoint are still highborn, the only difference is that they don't inherit a fiefdom: they're just appointed to an office.
The Roman Senate -- which the Tevinter Senate is modeled on -- was a hereditary institution. Senatorial status was one of three varieties of Roman nobility (along with the patriciate and the nobiles) and it was attained by a combination of landed property qualification and either election to an entry-level magistracy, a qualifying military award, or adlection by the censors. However, the same families were chosen over and over by the electorate or by the censors because nobody else was eligible, and nobody would vote for anybody outside of the senatorial families except in rare circumstances.
The landed requirement was simple -- only those with an actual stake in the republic should be chosen to run it. Of course, that also meant that they had to pay for most government operations out of pocket, and (especially in the early days) serve in the military themselves. Aristocracy is much less objectionable to the people when the aristocrats pay for everything and do all the dying in wars. ![]()
Anyway, nice to see a fellow CK2 player.

It is not easy for me, I say I am neutral in certain thing, and she is one of those, I like the Qun, but there are certain things that I do not approve , I like to Tevinter and do not approve slavery for example.

Poppycock and hofflenosh I say. Why not just give every idiot with more ambition than sense, of which there are many, a license to to burn down a district while you're at it? There are already plenty of unimportant mages fool enough trifle with demons or resort to irresponsible use of blood magic as it is. Abolishing the right of inheritance to the Magisterium would just incentivise the behavior, as more would seek to claim a place.
The Magisterium works fine as it is, those who are truly worthy can already be granted a seat by the Archon, and those who are truly unworthy can already loose theirs through their own incompetence.
They exist, but in essence their just tiny grenades.
And considering Thedasian grenades at this point are just pot and pitch I wouldn't get your hopes up.

The problem with this is that it would create way more infighting than we currentely have.
you get used to it milady haha...just always suck the fun out of everything.

Interesting, but would that actually be a point in favor of inheritance, or one that speaks ill of the current selection process?

Think about it this way: blood magic and demon-summoning is often the resort of the magically inept, frequently as a result of envy of other, better mages. If the Magisterium were opened up to anybody with sufficient magical prowess, how many more inept mages would resort to blood magic out of desperation?
The Altus families which feed into the ranks of the magisters have bred the best bloodlines of magical talent they can muster, and they have the resources and influence to ensure a top-tier magical education. They have no need to resort to desperate trickery. But those eager to join them are a different matter.
