Except it happened.

Lucius something or another did die in the battle, he was a praetor and there have been stories about how he died mentioned in a half dozen books on the subject.

That's a exaggeration obviously but there was a praetor fatality on the field.

Who? And what books?

And are we switching the story from "dying in the arena in single combat" to "dying in the field of battle"? How, then, would it at all be relevant, let alone an inspiration, to either the film (another claim you have no source for), or even the hypothetical scenario you conjured up?

Now its getting interesting

Nah, that was probably my final contribution to this particular line of discussion. Trying to "win" on the internet is never worth it.

That's going to have to wait until I'm off the mobile and am actually at home.

It's always worth it; imposing your opinions on other people is the only way to live. If they do not accept, they are simply being obtuse and you should call them on it.

Actually you are right, first function of human speech is persuasion.

Anyone have heard about any kind of mod allowing 'us' to craft Tevinter armours?

Ah, but why not sit comfortable in your superiority? If you've got a high horse, why risk getting knocked off?

Better to gallop around as others watch in envy.

Edit: yeah I don't think we can edit schematics yet. Nor can we use cheat engine to display Tevinter models on our characters bc I don't believe they exist as normal items.

I´d rather wait for official item dlc than start modding the game. But that´s just me, I am a bit lazy on that regard.  ^_^

It is despicable. Such teasing should be forbidden. Their armours are one of the few redeeming qualities of this game but you can't obtain them. They should release 'an apology' DLC with all these armours plus more from multiplayer. Tevinter Imperium is the only truly interesting place in DA universe. They should focus on it, because I'm truly tired of all these commoners and what not.

Alright I reread the passage on the third servile war and Grant wasn't specific in which campaign Lucius died only that it occurred after the defeat of the Roman army in the Italian heartlands.

Not as detailed as I had hoped but such is to be expected.

Speaking of Grant isn't he just the best modern academic when it comes to Rome.

Easily citable and referenced research materials, fairly detailed and best of all his books are common place.

Also o.o I had to dig out the book from behind a old Atari and vcr in the garage.

I wouldn't give the accolade of best modern academic to somebody who writes for a popular audience (the same reason I prefer Vasiliev or Ostrogorsky to Lord Norwich for instance.)

I'd say the best modern Roman historian would have to be Syme, without question. Living, it's trickier -- Cameron has put out some interesting works lately but I don't much care for him. Green is certainly highly influential, but a little casual too.

Green sort of beats a dead horse when it comes to history.

Especially antiquity.

Funny guy though.

Imperator,

We enacted the spell on three captives, as per the enchanter's notes. On the first two, it didn't take, could have been extremely messy were it not for the barriers. Veins went black on the third one, with no other changes visually; we're still not sure what caused the variance in results. Final captive was then enthralled and ordered to travel back to Hirad.

At the moment, we can only assume the spell worked... if not as we intended. The Qunari apparently liquidated the entire settlement the next morning, which included our contact, so we cannot report on the spell's exact effects as of yet. However, a rumor is spreading among merchants and travelers of a red mist swallowing Hirad before its destruction.

In my opinion, the spell is simply too volatile for a larger implementation on Seheron, at least for the moment.

*Wind bends the long dark grass, it spins and swirls the grass forming strange and peculiar patterns. Nazlik runs through the grass in hurry, she tries to reach Ukki who walks calmly far away ahead of her. Even how fast she runs she cannot seem to reach him, no matter how much she struggles. She just cannot catch up with him. Cold wind gathers dark clouds in the sky. Ukki starts to climb a small hill standing alone in the grassy plains. On top of the hill she can see that strange stone table from the tomb, surrounded with four tall stone pillars. This time the table is larger, crouching ominously on top of the hill like a formless beast emanating sheer horror, as if it was alive. Nazlik wants nothing more than to turn and run from it. But she can´t, and he is going determinedly straight to it.
She tries to warn him, stop him from going near that evil thing. But the cold wind takes away her scream as if wanting to silence her. She runs after him but running feels like she is wading through waist deep of cold water. Black clouds gather over the hill as Ukki finally reaches the table. Lightning cracks the sky.

She can hear his voice as the wind carries it to her as if it would want her to hear it. "Power", she hears him whisper in a cold hollow voice as he places his hands on the stone table. The moment his hands touch the stone table a thunderstorm breaks loose, four lighting arcs strike down from the dark twirling clouds striking the stone pillars around the table. The power of the lightning funnels down from the pillars across the top of the hill into the stone table. Through the table the crackling power fills Ukki and she can hear his ecstatic voice echo all around her.
The constant thunder storm illuminates the hill top revealing strange dark shadows standing by the pillars. That moment when she sees them the shadows start to move. They all detach themselves from the pillars and start gliding towards Ukki who doesn´t see anything else but the stone table.

Nazlik screams her warning and this time he seems to hear her. Ukki turns around and their eyes meet. There is saddness in his eyes, as if he knew what was to come though still unable to stop it. Dark shadow figures gather around him, she sees how each of them draws out a strange dagger. Black as night, like a dagger shaped tear in the fabric of the world as if there was nothing there but a hole in their shadowy arms.
Each one of them plunges their dagger into Ukki. He stands there looking at her as the blood gushes from his wounds. He smiles at her and whispers, "For you my love". Slowly he falls on his back on the stone table as the shadows disperse. She falls on her knees tears falling from her eyes, loss and grief wash over her. With his death the thunder storm slows down, as if it was the sole thing this storm was waiting for. Slowly the wind dies out a cold rain begins. Nazlik wanders closer to him, silently sobbing she cleans the blood of his face. She then reaches out and closes his staring eyes.

Sudden convulse shakes his body. For a moment a faint hope fills Nazlik´s heart as she leans closer but then she has to back away in shock. A crack has appeared on Ukki´s chest among the wounds. Black slime pours out of it. This black and oily slime oozes out of the wound throbbing with a sickening pulse. It grows and expands taking a shape of man. For her shock it starts to look like him. The being stands up reaching it´s arm towards her hissing "price...".*

*Nazlik winces awake. Still feeling the horror from her dream she reaches out to him but he is not there. Despite the comforting sound of the rain outside the cave Nazlik sits up agitated looking for him, to her relief she sees him sitting by the mouth of their cave watching the rain in the early morning light. He watches the rain in his thoughts as she wraps her arms around him from behind. "Not sleeping anymore I see" he said as she pressed her cheek against his. "Promise me you will never do anything to endanger yourself, or us" she whispers to his ear, "promise me". "Whats this?" he said turning to her, "what brought this up?" "Just promise to me" she said squeezing him tighter. He took her hand reassuring, "I promise".

This was probably not the best moment to talk to her about the stone table he had been thinking of, he thought. He was now more than ever sure that the ancient stone table in the tomb had resonated with his latent dreamer ability. The more he thought about it the more sure he was. As Nazlik sat there next to him her arms around him he thought to himself, "There has to be a way to bring that item to Minrathous".*

Honestly i expect that to be covered in DLC and by the time DA4 rolls around, Solas will have been in the ground for literal real life years.

Possibly, but I'm really not confident that will happen. I guess we'll just have to see the scope of the first single-player DLC to know for sure.

Nah. They've said one of the reasons why we didn't visit Tevinter this game was because it deserved its own game, which is great.

Also, given that the Blight and the Old Gods are as yet unexplained and given that there's at least some relation to the events you mentioned from DAI, I think a game set in Tevinter is ideal. It's the oldest place in Thedas and has connections to everything that happened way back when. If anything, I think the stuff that happened in DAI increase the chances of a DA4 set in Tevinter.
