.....it's silly to think puny magic holds any chance against a long range bombardment.

If the Quanari, really wanted to conquer Tevinter, they could do so with ease.

Can you provide any reputable source, for any of this?

I'm not sure why the Quanari would let them be, if they could easily conquer them.

Fenris and Stens dialogue? It's not the most reliable, but we aren't exactly given a lot of information on the conflict in the first place. But the fact that cannons are tactically superior to magic is just logical.

Since they both despise Tevinter, it would be too subjective for me to believe it. Maybe Dorian wil provided more insight.

Also what if magic can block cannons/explosives? I cannot confirm or deny this, but it could be possible for magic to do so.

But even barriers can't withstand everything and since it's almost impossible to even predict when and where a cannonball is going to hit, this seems unlikely. That's not even counting the massive air velocity and destructive force of such projectiles.

Tevinter will burn.

While I'm not the biggest Qunari or Qun fan, it's silly to think puny magic holds any chance against a long range bombardment. Gun powder is the pinnacle of warfare. Even the most poweful mage in all of Tevinter is helpless against a cannonball to the face.

If the Qunari, really wanted to conquer Tevinter, they could do so with ease.

You said it yourself in your next post, we don't know enough. But we do know Qunari like all attackers before them are utterly incapable of conquering Minrathous. The Qunari can only use their gun powder with ships not foot soldiers. Minrathous is an island close to land only reachable with a bridge which can be destroyed to completely block ground attacks and repaired with magic quickly to launch a counter attack. Most of the Island is surrounded by cliffs which is deadly to approaching ships. Also Minrathous has access to dwarven city beneath it which means infinite supplies during a siege.

The most powerful mage might be powerless against gun power, but even the most powerful gunpowder army has no chance against the most fortified city on Thedas.

All fair points, but the Qunari seem very inventive and if they found a way to block access to their dwarven allies, the city would be doomed. Even the most fortified cities and castles have historically fallen to prolonged sieges, betrayal and internal strife.

That is probably the only way to conquer that city but its very unlikely to happen. Tevinter and dwarves are allies for Millennium and its very profiting for both of them. Dwarves are the only race that its actually illegal to make them slaves in Tevinter and surface dwarves living in Tevinter are almost more respected than none-mage humans who are not nobles aka Soporati social class. Tevinter dwarves have their own branch of government, the Ambassadoria, unlike dwarves in other countries. Ambassadoria representatives are elected by the dwarves to advise the Archon and the Magisterium. In other words surface Dwarves can be actual nobility on surface which is not possible anywhere else.

Said qunari invaders would need to find another entrance. Even if they manage that, I doubt very much that the dwarves would welcome them. An invading force would also face Minrathous's massive Juggernaut golems.

My human necromancer will be very interested about Tevinter and will be asking Dorian as many questions as she can.

I hope Tevinter and the Qunari continue to wear on each other for the foreseeable future.  If we're lucky, some day the Blights will be dealt with and all the truly civilized nations of Thedas can unite to bring down them both.

The end of extreme ideologues.

I'm actually surprised when I see people out and out liking Tevinter.

I mean they've got a really cool look and all but they also seem like what would happen when you really want to make an over the top "Bad guy" faction.

How many Exalted Marches have been led against the Imperium? How many have failed? ;)

Probably not. I mean, it's possible, but probably not efficient.

However, you can blow up their ammunition with magic *wink*

Fenris doesn't care for Qunari either.

How many Exalted Marches have been led agaisnt the Imperium? How many have failed? ;)

About those Marches... they were conducted before Tevinter went solo against the Qunari by refusing the Llomerryn Accord.  Tevinter has worked itself into an impressive stalemate, but it can't hold forever, and I really don't think the Qunari are giving everything they have.  In the meantime the Qunari act as the perfect blunting agent.  I imagine if there was enough interest from a united Thedas, attacking on Tevinter's opposite front could be quite effective.

Likely, if that were the case, whatever nations back-fill Tevinter territory (assuming a successful conquering campaign) would work themselves into the same stalemate position against the Qunari that Tevinter currently holds.

It is important to note I'd rather not have the Chantry involved, this wouldn't be an Exalted March.  I would rather have rational best-interest be the driving factor, not religious fervor.

An extremely unlikely scenario, I know, but I can hope.

But if Tevinter is gone... Who are the "civilized" nations supposed to sell their elves to?

HA!  Bioware already took your healing spells away.  It only a matter of time before they take other spells!  They hate mages too!
