I am not opposed to worshiping Gods, provided that they exist, but if possible I am more inclined to become one rather than worship one.

Hessarian was a fool. It is because of him that we are stuck with this wretched chantry in Tevinter along with the cult of the maker. As a magister I support The Old Gods, whom without Tevinter would never have risen. Silence has fallen upon us for we have turned our back on our lord.
We will crush the cow scum and reclaim the south, but not until our devotion is brough back to Dumat grace. When silence returns to our great imperium chaos shall again be quieted, flames and chains will power our conquest. Beauty will again make himself known to this ugly world. Mystery will be revealed and when night comes, Silence will blanket our great Imperium.
Return to the true ways brothers. The old ways. They are not the old gods, such titles are beneath them and it implies fallibility and a chantry driven propaganda. They simply are the gods. Meh. Considering it's possible Dumat's intention was to Lead the magisters to the Golden/Black city and became corrupted, It'll be my pleasure to kill him again, if he's still alive.
Also, the Faith in the Old Gods was already weakened after the Two centuries of the Blight. Andraste/Hessarian were Just the Last straw.

Andraste was nothing more than a blasphemer and barbarian wench. She spread her legs for Maferath and for some unnamed spirit claiming to be the maker, or hallucinated it. No true deity has the mortal need of a bride. Brothers awaken from this hypocrisy and heresy. The gods are the past present and future. Without Dumat's power we never would have conquered anything.

Dumat was not responsible for our downfall. It was our own hubris for believing we could usurp the gods. We were promised the power of the gods, but not by Dumat. We were tricked by some entity claiming to be our lord. Perhaps the elven trickster spirit Fen'Harel? Or perhaps some cunning Demon. This entity tricked us, and in our arrogance we tried to claim a golden city and the light of the gods, What was there was not gold nor light, it was black and tainted which to me screams Demons or Fen'Harel. 

 

This taint spread into a physical avatar of Dumat, in his fury and rage brought on by this taint which we released, he punished us, rightfully so. With our eventual triumph he was released from this taint. His power is incorruptible and he is eternal, as are all the gods. We must find a way to find the avatar's of Razikale and Lusacan and wake them from their slumber before the Darkspawn can taint them. 

 

The ultimate treachery is that this taint from the Black City could corrupt the physical avatars of the gods. Think about it, whatever this entity was is clearly an enemy not just of mortals but of the gods themselves. It sought to corrupt and contain them. Why? because the gods are the only force in this wretched cosmos that can destroy it. A convenient story about a maker is ridiculous. The Maker never turned his back on thedas, because the maker that is being espoused by Chantries spanning this continent does not exist. At best he is the first spirit, at worst the being that is responsible for conspiring to trick the original magisters. More than likely he is the creation of a mortal mind.

no she didn't, the Chant forbade magic being used to control peoples minds.

Blood magic is outlawed because it CAN be used to control peoples minds. but it is not it's only purpose, the use of blood magic, (so long as it's not used to control peoples minds) does not go against the will of the maker.

 

You must also remember that Andraste was merely a mortal prophet, she was the mouth of the maker nothing more. I know you're still learning but it is not right to worship andraste, one can only worship the maker. (besides we don't even know if Andraste is the author of "transfigurations")

that particular part of the chant comes from chapter called transfigurations. but the author is unknown, so we don't even know if they were andraste's words.

Our founders would be disgusted with us. Darinius an Thalsian founded this empire in the name of Dumat and brought enlightment and control to akl of Thedas. Their spirits look upon us with shame.

Ah because my friend unlike our spineless Hessarian they have had the good sense not to abandon their beliefs for political convenience. They, despite their crumbling siituation and eventual extinction have not bent knee to the faith not their own.

Hessarian forced this...chantry down our ancestors throats as a political power grab. His day is long done. Yet still we bend knee? To a barbarian queen's fictional tribal cult? I cannot and will not do this. I serve the gods. Make no mistake my loyalty to Tevinter and our right to rule is unshakeable. However until we break the bonds of Chantry lunacy our power will remain sequested here in the north.

While the chantry has existed we have seen our power stagnate. We pray to this so called maker, and it is for naught. What is the response? Silence...yes Silence. Dumat hears our prayers to a false god, he is sickened so Silence is all we shall hear. In our golden age Dumat was far from silent, one has but to look at our glorious civilization.

Do you not see fellow magisters of Tevinter? The way to the future is through power! The gods are power, unhindered and unadulterated power. They were our creators without them we would never have grown beyond Neromenian. Our future lies in our past. A return to the old ways, the true way is the only path we can take. This chantry laden drivel has brought us ruin. Even more, we worship the same faith that the south worships however seperate the methods, the result is the same. Are we not better than they? They are our former slaves and conquered provinces. Change is coming, we must embrace it. Re open the old temples it is time.

Indeed, we must be flexible. Especially in our beliefs. The Maker, I will not argue his existence or lack there of, has served its purpose of appeasement to the masses long enough. Our beliefs should be flexible enough to return to the seven gods. Now, intractable at times I may be, but I'm not a fool. Let the downtrodden and slave castes cling to this...this...Maker notion for awhile let them pray to the nothingness that has always been exactly that. If it makes them sleep, well all the better for us. The mind is a wonderful thing to shall we say coerce while it dreams and roams the fade.
