*The elf was defiant. He had been questioned before as the obvious marks on his face spoke of rough treatment. "I will tell you nothing shem!" he snapped at Ukki as he entered the cell spitting at him, "I know who you are Magister. You will get nothing from me". The spat was just a feeble attempt to show his bravery. Ukki looked at him amused, "Oh, is that so my dalish friend?". This young man had a nice looking vallaslin on his bruised face even he would admire. "I´m not your friend shem" dalish hissed. Ukki turned to guards and they left the cell.

 

"So, what do we know about this one?" Ukki asked then turning to Tullus. "First of all, I have to say we were incredible lucky. Trough a blind luck one of my operatives was in the vicinity of the Eluvian in Minrathous circle. You remember the agent you placed there to keep an eye on the First Enchanter?". Ukki nodded.

"So, during the midnight hours the Eluvian suddenly fired up. You can imagine the surprise of the agent as it happened while he was just passing by. Then, this elf walks out of it, just casually like he would have done it several times before. After his exit the Eluvian died out again." Tullus turned to look at the elf who stared at him with fiery eyes.

"The interesting thing is, this elf didn´t waste much time, he came practically straight here. Like he knew the city already. As he crossed the perimeter wall of the tower our guards captured him, not without a fight, I might add. He injured two of your guards. Good thing the agent was on his tail and was able to alert the guards in time. Slippery bastard".

Tullus gazed the elf with cold eyes.

 

"Well, well" Ukki said turning to the elf with a cold smile, "what was the purpose of your late visit in my humble home? And the most important thing, I am dying to know how did you get the Eluvian to work?". He whispered the last words as he leaned towards the elf.

"I was sent here to kill you fenedhis lasa" the elf grinned, "Death to the Venatori!" he shouted. With the last word the elf looked like he chewed something. Suddenly he started to blow air at Ukki. A grey mist spread to the room as he exhaled. 

 

Ukki stumbled backwards lifting his magical shields in haste. Tullus wasn´t so lucky. He inhaled some of the dust and started choking. His face turned to blue as he tried to gasp for air scraping his throat. With a flip of his wrist Ukki unleashed a firebreath which engulfed most of the room, along with the elf tied to the chair, burning the grey dust from the air. After the fire had died down he glaced at Tullus, he realized there was nothing left to do for him. The man laid on the floor on his back hands still holding his throat, lifeless. Red rage filled Ukki´s mind, how dare this pitiful elf try to assassinate him?

 

The elf was still alive. Barely, but still alive. A miraculous feature and a stroke of luck for Ukki. He stepped forward fast pulling his dagger. With a swift move he cut a deep wound in the elfs arm, deep enough to find blood. He then smeared his hand on the blood and placed it on the elfs scarred head. There were practically nothing left of the elven features as the head was just a round bleading and smoking flesh ball with with horrible burnt marks. But he still had his mouth. Ukki bent down next to what was left of his ear and shouted with a demanding voice, "tell me how to activate the Eluvian, tell me now! I command you!", putting all his willpower to work with the blood spell. 

 

As he crouched down to the slit which was once a mouth he could barely make out the words "Fen'Harel enansal...". Ukki pulled his hand of the elf´s head shaking pieces of burnt flesh off his hand.

 

"Just a few words.." he said to himself in his thoughts.*

I have discussed the fate of the captured Venatori agents with the Archon. There are a number of Altus among them; their familial ties make this a precarious situation. But that does not matter. Our charge is clear, as are their crimes. I dissuaded him from allowing the Magesterium to vote on the matter. We know a number of them supported the Venatori, directly or indirectly. Even those that didn't will fight to preserve their lineage.  I told him that now is the time to assert his power, to bring this rabble to heel. Fealty to the Imperium stands above all else, even blood.

 

I have ordered Commander Horatia to make the arrangements. I realize many look upon her as peculiar, but I believe her methods will send a most powerful message to all dissenters and schemers.

Promises, Promises to revive a dead culture, preach hatred of humans and despise what Tevinter gave them. It is best to stifle it soon, before it becomes a nuisance. The pride of them led to such. 

First, I do not know who is the leader of the uprising, can be anyone, even a slave, a Foreign, a dalish elf. But for there to be an uprising, the idea needs to be spread and when start polluting Tevinter, the Magisterium must put their spies in the streets. Second, they can not just attack us directly, then they can stop our trade routes to get food or quality steel and shortly after hiding in a hole. They would need allies, but I believe that no kingdom like to help elves in their uprising. Then loot us would be the best way to get food, steel and gold.

That's all I know, So I ask the Magisterium put me in charge of such an act, the secret police will find out who is behind it and stifle the uprising.

Should they be allowed? Yes. Is it likely that the Magisterium would overlook racial biases to promote such a thing? Not really, but I'm confident that Feynriel will work to change things in Tevinter and excel in his studies. Perhaps he will work with Maevaris and Dorian to reform the system. And maybe, just maybe, Alexius will join in as well, having returned to the man he once was.

Well, to answer your question. *clears throat*

If the person is a stout defender of the Imperium and has shown his or hers devout patriotism through out the years with clear service and deeds then yes, I believe it can happen. Though I have my reservations against anyone from under the qun. Vashoth in the other hand might be a suitable beginning. *takes a sip of wine*

*Ukki walked out of the cell chamber as the startled guards stood there watching at him weapons ready. Livia, Tullus left hand came running down the stairs with several guards. "What happened my lord?" she asked surprised, "guards alerted me that the elven prisoner attacked you".

"Next time you apprehend someone sent to kill me check every hole in them before sending for me. And by the way, you have now been promoted. Congratulations spymaster" Ukki said to the baffled woman as he walked by her. "I need to see you in my study as soon as you have cleaned this mess".

When Livia finally arrived to his study, she found Ukki with a wine glass and pile of papers he was shuffling. "Good, you are here. Sit down" he said without looking up from the papers. Livia was a daughter of the main clerk working for the Ukki´s house. A laetan born mage. She had shown a remarkable talent for cloak and dagger activities raising fast in the ranks of the Vaellanius spy network.
"I need to know who has been throwing my name around with the Venatori knuckleheads" Ukki said taking a sip of the wine. "That is something I will not let go unpunished. I don´t care about the elven forest critters being delusional, but I do care when this pops up with my contacts in the Magisterium". He slapped a parchment on the table. "No one smears my name". He turned to look at Livia, "find me a name, that is all".
"Yes my lord" she said standing up taking the parchment, "I will get to the bottom of this".

After she had left his butler knocked the door, "my lord, Magister Paulus of house Novation is here to see you. Will you see him now?". Ukki nodded.

Magister Paulus rushed to the room before the butler had even turned around. "It is horrible my friend, horrible!" he wailed wringing his arms.
Without being asked he sat in the chair, "it is my son, that bullheaded young man". "Tell me what is the matter my friend" Ukki said calmly pouring wine for the man, "how may I assist you?".
"You know how the wretched Venatori messed up things by serving that blight monster, Corypheus? Of course you do. You know everything" Paulus said taking a sip of the wine. "My son has been active in funding them. He was not part of the organization but did go in their meetings". He stood up and started pacing around the room. "Now Archon has arrested all the known members of Venatori and all the active people helping them. And now he has my son". He stopped in the middle of the room looking at Ukki pleading, "I don´t want my son to be exiled, or Maker forbid, executed".

Ukki leaned back tapping his desk with a fingertip. "You had to know what would happen in a situation like this. It was too risky from the beginning. I told you so, even disregarding the blight monster. Who in their right mind would support that thing? It was a abomination which needed to die".

"I know, I know, and I told this to my son", Paulus said starting to pace around the room again, "nothing like this would have happened if you would have let your daughter Cassia to marry my son. She has a level head. She would have kept him grounded". "She doesn´t like your son, he has peculiar hobbies" Ukki said with a dry voice.
"How do you know..?" Paulus said stopping again, "Of course you do" he continued letting his shoulders drop. "look, I need your help. I beg you, help my son. You have status and power in the Magisterium, people respect you." he walked at his table, "I will do anything you tell me, just save him". A cold smile crept on Ukki´s lips, "I will see what I can do".

"In the mean time, know this. There is a indication that the current Imperator of the Ordo Silentia is working to have Archon to bypass the Magisterium in this matter. You haven´t heard of them, I know" Ukki said as Paulus looked at him confused. "A specific group of talented people usually inclined into special operations. A group many are not aware of, unlike me. I know the Archon is having problems with the captured Venatori idiots as many are high born. But, to actually do anything drastic to them will cause a uproar. A uproar someone would like happen. This someone is out there to disturb the balance of power. I am not completely sure if this someone is the Imperator, but that is a strong possibility. He needs to be watched closely.

This situation needs to be curbed. You need to circle around to alert our friends of this matter. A little publicity will do wonders for the Ordo Silentia. A show of soft power is required, at this point. Tell them what I told you, but do it like you would have come up with this. I don´t want to hear my name on it. And here, take this" Ukki hands Paulus a parchment, "this contains some more detailed information about the correspondence between the parties and the people in question". Paulus took the parchment, a quick look made his eyes open up. "Also one more thing, Commander Horatia of the praetoria guard is not to be trusted. She is part of the Imperators little group. She is using the praetorian guard to advance the position of this little secret society of theirs. A death may be necessary I´m afraid, think about it".

He leaned back taking a sip of the wine, "just remember, you were never here and we did not have this conversation. You can leave now my friend". Paulus looked at him and at the parchment in his hand. Then he left in silence.

 

Ukki sat there contemplating the situation as Nazlik entered the room, "what is going on here?" she asked, " a lot of people have been coming and going".
"Nothing" he said, "nothing yet. Lets hope nothing will happen either".*

I don't really trust any of the devs to give each of the nations and cultures of Thedas their due, given the track record thus far.

 

But I do wish Weekes luck in his endeavour and I'll wait and see what they do.
