its more sedatation than "calm" haha and if i insult someone(which is rare unless they hit "the madmen" spectrum) i lose insight and i hate being in the dark. That being said i generally dislike circular arguements( orlais ruler, MT, dalish, culture, realism v fantasy) it gives me hemmroids

True enough XD. Well, I'm not the nicest person on the BSN, but I rarely insult someone as well, and if I did it was only a couple of times when people step over the line or really get on my nerve. I do believe we dislike circular arguments regardless of subject. At least, I don't want to see this thread get caught and ruined by endless arguments that get us nowhere.

I doubt you would, I don't noticing a lot of very vocal Celene supporters frequenting this topic. Monkey's a supporter, I believe, but not a very vocal one.

...But I suppose it is usually wise to err on the side of caution.

Monkey suporter? then you share the same vision of magi of him?

Well, it means that we're similar or share the same taste, preference. You could say that it means we're friends who share similarity. We are friends, Red. :P

Hmm, how I made my decisions in Dragon Age has nothing to do with my social position or country, and as for personal experience? Could you give me an example please. I'm trying to judge without engage.

I can not explain, then, do you have any specific judgment to make the choices?

Maybe one day I'll be able to buy land there...you still can't even get into the country as a tourist.

I was only let in due to my position with the shipping company. Humanitarian work is about the best way to get in.

Still you can dream.

To be fair, Monkey. This is thread is about vint, and despite people hanging around waiting for something new from BioWare. It would be awkward if we discussing anything else more in vint support thread. :P

Well, I was actually referring to Monkey's support of Celene with Briala for rulership of Orlais. Which no...We do differ slightly on that.

Monkey and I have very similar thoughts on the circle system, however.

By the way, I wonder if maybe a way to phrase your question for Aeducan might be "what ideology or mindset do your in game decisions tend to circulate around?"

The problem is, I don't think everyone does make in game decisions that are consciously influenced by real world beliefs. I think those tend to be instinctual for a lot of us, if that makes sense?

There are a few issues that I have a really hard time deciding on. Sometimes I feel like this world is too gray for me, in that they try so hard to make all decisions justifiable that it can actually induce apathy sometimes.

Edit: The Cole person/spirit choice comes to mind.

Arti that's a nice thought.

Gray...the blending of immorality and morality, of compassion and greed, of empathy and apathy.

Of course the entire labeling system is pointless regardless, it's just a notion to somehow deny the basic truth of life.

The weak kneel and the strong rule.

A sheep does not set terms of his life.

hehe from a certain point of veiw perhaps.... Well why ill tell the tale of monkey's veiws on magic im drunk anyway

I believe magic is benign at worst and a powerful tool at best and up to the user to decide if they are good or bad. I believe in mage freedom but at the same time in academies that will foster those worthy and eventually be leaders(not sole leaders) of the world trying to better the world... but under my ideals my main dream is to see the veil be sundered permantly and that magic should be infused with every sapient species allowing them to be more.... and those worth should be unified with spirits (similar to wynn, flemeth, anders, evageline) to become something more... im fully aware of the potential damage my plan causes, but i would like to see it happen... if not out of curiousity

Yes! That's it! You translate what I meant :P

The reason for my question was that our choices are inexplicably equal, even in other games. In my case, is much more personal belief, I can not separate my ''ideology'' from real world from that I will apply in the game, so I have difficulty e.g kill some characters. I can not play Mass Effect with full renegade, even I would not be very nice. In this case it might help me understand. Apparently you judge the situation for ''herself'' I can do this only in some occasions.

From the first time we talked about it and now ahs changed some things(remember that I joined the forum shortly before the release of the game). In your case, from what I understand, the sense of freedom changed from something more free, for more closed and my from more closed, for complete freedom. Much by the influence of this topic. Arishok was not here to help me.  :P

Well, as Arti have pointed out, in my case I try not to let
real world beliefs influence how I made my decisions, but there's few time I allowed rl beliefs influence me. For example when it comes to Orzammar ruler decision. I personally don't believe isolationism, outdated tradition that allowed abuse of power is good for Orzammar.

its more due to finding a new purpose than freedom... its more benefit to my goals than primary objective

Caste system?

It is an interesting debate.
One day I was watching TV (in one of the rare times it happens) and was going through a kind of political debate. They were talking about the value of family and everything, the objector said that tradition and culture should not be considered ''untouchables'' because, according to him, ''there was slavery in the country and was part of the culture, then she should not be touched?''

Is something to think about.

Here we had the elections and the southern people were willing to back the military dictatorship for electing a left ruler of a Communist party that was born and today... just in front. Were preaching xenophobia against the people of the north that is less favored and tend to vote the left side who help them. And the election was well fierce.

Maybe I'm too extremist. Not always the means justify the end, right?

So you do not believe in change by force?
